The looks of this car are superb. When I saw this car at the dealership I knew I had to have it. It drives like a dream even in the winter time which I have to say I was suprised at. It is very upgradable which I am presently doing. I have already added on an intake, exhust, and new rims and tires. I am presently looking to lower it and add a new hood and turbocharger.
Weakness:
It does sqeak a little bit but not that bad. The only bad thing I would have to say if you are looking to get one is that damn blind spot. But you get used to it after awhile. I have loved every min. that I am in my car I have upgraded the sound system to include a CD player and two 12's by Rockford in the back with a nice Rockford amp. I did have to get a custom box for the subs but it sounds awsome!! The drive is one of the best I have ever felt in driving a car. It handles like a dream and can corner at a pretty high rate of speed. (Believe me I know). So if you want a great little Sports car get a Del Sol. My only regret is not getting a Vtec. Similar Products Used: It does compare to a Miada. It also looks like an old Pontiac Fiero. |

Strength:
my RED '95 del SOL SI 5 speed with black interior is for SALE. it has 108k miles on it. i replaced the timing belt at 90k miles (preventative) and it's getting a full tune-up (new spark plugs and air filter) on 3/17/01 (preventative, again). I also put new front tires on it fall of 2000. I have kept the car garage stored every winter from november to mid march. oil has been changed every 3500 miles or so. there have been no custom modifications, it's factory original. I can provide a CARFAX report to prove its history and the fact that I'm the original owner. the car has never had a maintenance issue.
Weakness:
it does squeak. tight suspensions lead to squeaks and rattles over time. the cupholders are inconvenient to get to. the sun visors are tiny. if you're over 6' tall, you may have some trouble getting in and out. once your in though, it has plenty of leg room. it's a great car, very reliable, i get about 32 mpg on the 5 speed. also, the insurance rate on the car is more liveable than other 2 seaters - a factor to consider if you're under 24. Similar Products Used: it's compared against older model miatas. the del sol is roomier and has much more trunk space, it also rides much smoother - making it more practical. i'm not going to lie, the miata WILL outperform the del Sol if neither car has been modified. |

I love just about everything. The removable hard top is perfect for the sunny Florida climate and locks easily into a rack in the trunk. This car just looks good. But above all, I have to recommend this car for its sheer reliability. I haven't had to do anything to this car in the 6 months I've owned it except change the oil, etc. It has a surprising amount of trunk and interior room (much more than a Miata). Even my 6'5" friend has enough leg & head room. The factory sound system isn't too bad either. Car handles well, very agile, makes very sharp turns.
Weakness:
Not many weaknesses at all. My main complaint is that this car has an abnormally large blind spot (due to the body shape and headrests). You have to take this into account when changing lanes, backing up, etc. Although I have no complaints with my car's power, some may not find it powerful enough (I only have the 'S' model), but there is always the more powerful VTEC version of this car. But overall, my complaints with my car are VERY limited. This is a very reliable, very fun car (especially in nice climates). I highly recommend it. Similar Products Used: Mazda Miata. Although I liked the Miata well enough, my main reason for preferring the Del Sol is the much greated interior and trunk space. I'm only 5'10" and feel cramped in a Miata. |

160 HP four cylinder engine loves to be revved. Good looks. Build quality is exceptional. Handling rivals cars that cost thousands more.
Weakness:
Roof can leak occasionally. The rest of the car is bullet-proof. A great little car. Removable roof makes it a great cruising vehicle. Looks great, runs great, and you get typical Honda reliability. Simply INCREDIBLE! Similar Products Used: 1994 Honda Civic Si - another great Honda, not quite as fun. |

GOOD ENGINE (B16A3).
Weakness:
HEAVY THE DEL SOL IS QUITE HEAVY. EVEN WITH A B16A3 (158-160HP) IT NEEDS TO BE FARTHER DEVELOP. FUTURE MODIFICATIONS: JACKSON RACING SUPERCAHERGER, DC SPORT HEADERS, TANABE RACING MEDELIAN... I PREVIOUSLY HAD A 88' CRX SI WITH 1.6 L. SOHC ENGINE. I MISS IT, BUT I GOT OVER IT QUICKLY WHEN I PURCAHSED THE DEL SOL VTEC. Similar Products Used: None |

Strong engine, great mileage, cool looks! This car has typical Honda reliability, which means it NEVER breaks! I bought it with 96,000 miles on it, and it's as solid as a new car.
Weakness:
Roof leaks a bit in hard rains. I'm a big guy, so getting in and out with the top on is sometimes a struggle, but it's worth the trip! That's about it. Anyone who is looking for something dead reliable, easy on gas but extremely quick and unique need look no further. With the targa you get the best of both worlds. My wife loves it, and so do I! (Sometimes, I even let her drive it!) Similar Products Used: I drove a Mazda Miata and a Toyota MR-2, and the del Sol was roomier, quicker, better looking and cheaper. What a combo! |
