Strength:

Good pickup (if you have a manual) for a stock model, the lowest model also, i can keep up with some 6 cylinders... I love that it's a 2 seater makes it seem like that much of a cooler car. Top comes off... but it's not like a rag top so in the winter it keeps the heat in well. Parking is real easy.... the list of strengths can go on forever......

Weakness:

everyone says that the roof leaks but i have yet to have this problem... other than that i wish i had a v-tech or an Si but for an average driver the S will do fine....

This is one great car... this is my daily driven car and being 17 this is one really good car. With raising gas prices i pity all the people who have hung on to they're domestics (mustangs etc. etc.), even with gas prices now a days i fill up with about 15 dollars worth...and yet i still rarely fill up... This car is great for the daily commuter....it has good pick up and nothing will ever come close to it's character. After seeing "the fast and the furious" i was looking to buy an RX-7 or supra... but after a little research i have discover that with the DOHC-VTECH engine and a few extra mods i can hang with some of those cars... I WILL NEVER GIVE UP MY DEL SOL....

i've driven a mercedes slk.... well the slk rocks... no doubt about it... the del sol can't really compete if your willing to spend about $30,000 more...

Strength:

The car has a sportier image when compared to the miata or even a civic hatchback. The targa top is easy to take off and place in the truck. With its small compact size, you can fit into almost any space. Also, since it's a two seater, you don't have to drive people around all the time and it is more convenient to catch the carpool lane.

Weakness:

Since it has a Single Overhead Cam, the car lacks much torque and horsepower. There's also the option for the 1.6 B16A motor, but it also lacks torque. It cannot compete against a 1.8 liter Dual Overhead Cam Acura Integra. If you were even to race a stock civic hatchback Si against a stock del sol Si, the del sol would lose because it is 100 pounds heavier than a Civic EX coupe. Ouch!!!!!

The Honda Del Sol is a good car to have. It is very reliable and affordable. I never had any problems with the targa top leaking nor have I had any problems with the motor. The Del Sol is a very fun and enjoyable ride with the top on or off. It may lack some horsepower, but to a normal person who just wants to get from point A to B, it will make a great vechicle.

I've owned a Mazda Miata in the past and I couldn't stand it. The Del Sol looks so much more attractive compared to the 1989-1997 Miata's.

Strength:

compact, quick, spacious, big trunk. oh....and the top...yeah, the top is kewl as #$%!

Weakness:

don't ever put a Prestige alarm on it. both my del sol and my friends prelude have one and they started going through batteries about every month. not fun. especially when you can't figure out why your battery is going dead.

I love this car. I'm gettin' seriously screwed on my interest rate, but i couldn't have picked a better car to be "stuck" with. It was fun when i first got it, but then i started fixing it up....that was even more fun. I'm sooooooo suprised what this car can do. I have mine slammed, wheels, exhaust, the whole racing thing happening and i've taken quite a few "faster" cars, with ease. very spunky car. =) oh, and living in Texas...it gets really hot here....which is another good thing about this car....very little space to have to a/c....gets cold really quick.

Strength:

Speed, handling, weight, looks, RELIABILITY - you could fix anything you wanted at home by yourself, but you won't have to.

Weakness:

People that drive the slowest model and think they suck - bad review apply only to automatic S models with AC on.
Only two seats (is that really a weakness? just you and your girl . . )

In a word, orgasmic. And that's stock. Plenty of options for aftermarket tinkering if you're so inclined. With minor bolt-on work, you can get gobs better handling and speed out of it. I'm afraid to take her to the upper end.
The car handles solid, quiet operation, plenty of pickup, excellent interior design (it's unconventional but very functional).

Similar Products Used:

Mazda Miata: No comparison, the miata is slow, small, and hard to control.
Honda Accord: Different league, it's a larger platform - more weight, but larger engine. Good for families and stuff.
Totota Camry: All the drawbacks of miatas, accords, and the sol, only benefit is four-seat space.

great handling, reliability, and power. THe metalic green color is awesome.

Weakness:

The roof squeeks, and leaks during rain. The trunk could be bigger

I recieved the samba green, draem machine for my 16th birthday. Since then It has given me nothing but smooth riding, great gas mileage, and looks from girls(the targa top is a nice feature). It is a reliable sports car that has alot of kick. (I put a RS camaro to shame). It is great car to modify, and it is not a trendy mod car(civic, integra, etc). So far I have added a viper alarm, 5zigen 2 1/4 inch cat back exhaust system,MR2 vents in the rear quarter panels, ashort shifter, tenzo R coilovers, a body kit, AEM cold air intake, Einkei 16 inch rims on bf goodrich 205/40/R16 tires, I have also advanced the timing. It has responded graet to the mods and performs great. I highly recomend modifing this car.

It compares closely to the earlier MR2 in looks, handling, and performance.

Weakness:

Cup holders location. Sun visors no side posistion No light in glove box. A slight leak in the trunk.

162 horsepower,4wheel ABS a near 1G suspension all stock. Road and track says 7 sec 0 to 60 but I dispute that. The only shame is you have to go way out in the country to really drive this car. I've pegged the speedo 130mph and still wasn't into the red line on the tach. This is what Honda should have done from the beginning. I have driven all the different models of Del Sol and then the 97 VTEC. There is no comparison. This is a completely different car. Excellent. It took me a year to find one that hadn't been raced. Everyone should own a car like this. It is built to handle the speed. It handles well at all speeds. Porches alwasy seemed a little stiff and rear heavy at lower speeds.

what other car can get 40 mpg...if you want it to?...or go 0-60 in 6.9 sec?..and do an honest 155 mph...if you want it to? NONE. for a little unassuming honda civic it attracts a lot of attention. the trunk is absolutely huge for a car this size. driving anywhere with the top off is a pleasurable experience. mine only had 65,000 miles on it when purchased 2 months age. all it needed was an oil change and new air filter. it runs quiet as a mouse under normal driving, and when you step on it the lil growl of the vtec gives my soul a rush. some think it's a chick car, but i'm a 53-yr-old male who loves his new toy!! i get as much fun out of this car as i would a new $25,000-$30,000 "sports car." and look at the price..$5500! this may be the last car i ever buy, what with honda's reliability and my age. it should last at least another 185,000 miles or 18.5 years for me...*S*

I purchased this red car last spring from my son, who is working in Gainesville, Florida;who had purchased this car on P.E.I, Canada. I really like the car,and really got to know the feel and handling of the car as I drove it back from Florida(2200 miles).I only drive the car in the summer, and store it in the winter. I really like the power back window, and have it down most of the time. The gas mileage is great ofr commuting back and forth to work-about 42 MPG.

Strength:

It's a Honda. It gets decent gas mileage, has a large trunk, and is comfortable.

Weakness:

The roof squeaks, but once you get to 55 you can't hear it. I hear there is something you can get at a Honda dealership that will fix that. It doesn't have a trunk release which gets to be annoying.

My dad bought this car for me 7 years ago with 11 miles on it. With 83K on it now I haven't had a single major problem. It still gets up and goes. Just recently i've beaten a few Mustang GTs, a Camaro SS, and an Eclipse GS-T. It has great handling. I've been thinking about selling it for a year and a half now, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Similar Products Used:

Civic Si, Integra GS & GSR, Prelude (S&Sh), Miata, Eclipse GS, Cougar. It's very similar to the Civic, feels about the same to drive. Nicer than the Integra GS, Miata, Eclipse, and Cougar.
