Gas Mileage/Styling

Weakness:

Cup Hoders

I purhased my G20 in 1999 with 9k miles. It's now 02/2006 and I have 71k miles. Car has been very reliable and gets good gas mileage; however, I've had one or two minor issues with the car. Brakes were replaced with 40k miles and then again at 70k miles. Strut mount recently needed to be replaced at 69k miles. Also, I've has some minor issues with the stereo. Other thean these few items I have had no problems with this car. I would recommend this to anyone looking for reliable commuter car, with a lot more character than the Accord or Camry!!

Strength:

Handling, front seats, GR20DE engine w/5-spd manual, gas mileage, cost of ownership, looks, reliability, Bose stereo

Weakness:

Crappy cupholders, weak off the line until the revs build then hold on, automatic strangles the engine

I first time I drove this car I knew it was something special. The baby Infiniti drives, looks, and feels how a small sporty entry level luxury sedan should. I would caution anyone looking for one to get the 5-spd. It makes all the difference in the way the car drives. The manual is a perfect match for the engine and makes it possible to extract all of the G20's potential. The front seats, in the '00 at least, are the same as those found in QX4. They provide for a very relaxed and comfortable ride even when spending long hours behind the wheel. The rear seats are also very roomy and comfortable and I've never heard so much as a complained from any of the adult sized passengers that have ridden back there. Sitting in the G20 simply feels bigger then it looks. All of the switches are smooth in operation with a positive feel that you would expect from a car of this caliber. But, the real fun begins when you find yourself behind the wheel on a lonely country road. This car feels athletic. The steering is absolutely spot on displaying a crisp response to input without the twitchyness or vagueness of some lessor handling vehicles. It's possible to push the G20t to a limit that other more expensive sporty sedans can only dream of. And it does it all while sipping on regular gas and averaging around 30mpg. That the G20 never seems to break, no matter how hard it's pushed, is a sort of icing on the cake. The fact that it can be found on the list of Consumer Reports most wanted used vehicles every year is not an accident. But, if it ever does require service, there is none better then Infiniti's almost legendary coddling of its customers.

Luxury for a very resonable price. Awesome handling

Weakness:

Lacks in acceleration power. However once the cars gains momentum the engines behaves like V6. I shouldn't be complaining as for a V4 it does its job pretty well

Awesome car. I drove it for almost 14 hrs straight. Car gave a millage of 36 Miles/gallon.

The Infinity G20 Manual 5 speed models manufactured from 1992 to 1996 are one of the sportiest most reliant sports sedans ever made. Check out older consumer reports. This model was at the top of the list for several years. Should not be confused with G20 models from 1997 on. Those are Nissan Sentra clones and have a different engine and overall quality.

Weakness:

Stereo on the fritz, and ac making noise, but to be expected.

I got this car from my uncle at about 80,000. I have put 50,000 in a year. I have had absolutley no problems for a car that has 130,000 miles on it. The exterior and interior, well for a teenager it is expected to be a little torn up.

When this car finally decides to go, it shakes the wheel to stop her.

Weakness:

I have no complaints, the fact that it doesn't accelerate when i'm ready to jump, saves me money, and the cup holders, just don't supersize it, and you'll be fine.

THINK OF IT THIS WAY My previous car, 92 civic hatchback, when someone lined up at a red light, she was ready to go, at green, she jumps, just like me, imature, just like me. Well, with the g20, when someone lines up, at green, you step on the accelerater, and she says, "hey, big deal, let the fella in the loud car waste his gas, get a ticket, maybe even impounded, then we'll see who the real winner is. Basically, this car is more mature when it comes to stuff like that. By the time she's done saying that, she's already in second and going.

Weakness:

like everyone else the cup holders suck you can buy an after market one that hooks on to your emergency brake, the automatic has a hard time picking up speed but does great when you do, wish that xenon headlights were available. the car does not have an ashtray so when friends ride in it and smoke they can't put them out anywhere, sucks for them

I love the body style of the car it looks great going down the road, you get plenty of heads turning, customer service is really good they deffinalty take care of you

Strength:

Fit-finish; sporty suspension; smooth power; no rattles even at 145,000 miles; still drives like a new car, and the engine burns no oil yet. The car will probably outlast me, and I'm not very old.

Weakness:

Transmission mount (replaced at 140,000 miles, $300); radiator (replaced with an aftermarket at 72,000 miles); passenger-side visor needs replacing (costing 2 or 3 hundred dollars); brake master cylinder, replaced at 140,000 miles.

I've had my car for 3 years, and I've put about 73,000 miles on it. Total mileage is 145,000. It's an "L" model -- the basic model -- which comes with leather seats, sunroof, ABS, memory seats, and lots more. I'd probably buy another one if I didn't already have it, but a used Q45 would tempt me as well. The car is as reliable as a car can be, and I would trust it to go anywhere. It moves quickly and has great road manners -- in other words, I can cruise along at high speed without worrying about keeping it in the lane. It goes where you point it, without arguing. It's an expensive used car to buy, but I think that's only because it's such a cheap car to maintain, and it looks newer than it is. The Legend, I think, was made in Japan, and the quality shows. It's a pleasure every time I step into it.

Strength:

GREAT HANDLING, SMOOTH ENGINE, GOOD GAS MILEAGE (36 MPG @ 70-80 MPH REGULAR GAS), GOOD LOOKING, ROOMY INTERIOR FOR THE SIZE OF THE CAR, EXCELLANT OUTWARD VISABILITY, GOOD SIZE TRUNK, COMFORTABLE SEATS, REALY GOOD STEREO, HIGH QUALITY INTERIOR MATERIALS. OTHER THAN THE PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING MAYBE THE BEST THING IS THE OVERALL HIGH LEVEL OF ENGINEERING, MATERIALS, AND CONSTRUCTION. THOUGHOUT THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN TEST DRIVING NEW CARS (AUDI A4, BMW 325, MERCEDES C280, IS300 AND OTHERS) AND WHEN I AM BACK IN THE G20 I WONDER WHAT WAS BETTER ABOUT THEM. THEY MAY HAVE MORE POWER BUT THE G20 IS NICER TO DRIVE. I AM WAITING FOR THE G35 TO COME OUT, EARLY REPORTS ABOUT IT LOOK GOOD. WILL BE A NEW LONG TERM RELATIONSHIP.

Weakness:

TO BE PERFECT IT PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A G22 (MORE POWER IS ALWAYS WANTED) BUT THAT IS ALL. ITS NOT FAST, BUT REALY, WHEN YOU GET THE REVS ABOVE 3,000 RPM IS SCOOTS RIGHT ALONG.

PURCHASED NEW WITH 5 SPEED MANUAL, LEATHER, SUNROOF, CD, FOR $19,000. AT 95,000 REPLACED BREAKS ($600). AT 130,000 REPLACED DRIVERS WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ($550). AT 140,000 REPLACED ENGINE CAMS ($2,000 A PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINES). AT 150,000 REPLACED STARTER, CV JOINT AND BOOT ($1,200). THESE ARE THE ONLY PROBLEMS I HAVE EVER HAD. AT 160,000 MILES IT RUNS PERFECT, STARTS RIGHT UP, AND EVERYTHING IN THE CAR LOOKS AND WORKS JUST LIKE NEW. THERE ISN''T A LEAK, SQUEAK, OR RATTLE IN IT. I HAVE DRIVEN IT ALL DAY WITHOUT ANY DISCOMFORT. IT HAS JUST BEEN A PLEASURE TO DRIVE AND OWN AND THE DEALER HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT. THEY GIVE A CLEAN LOANER WHEN THE CAR IS IN FOR SERVICE (ONLY THREE TIMES NEEDED), THE LONGEST WAS TWO DAYS FOR THE CAMS AND MY CAR IS READY FOR PICK UP CLEAN AND WORKING PERFECT AGAIN.
