G20 vehicle has low maintence Great on dependablity. Problem Free vehicle. Good options. Affordable.

Weakness:

Paint

I have had several Infinti vehicles ranging from the Q45 down to the G20. The G20''s were all very dependable and I had zero problems mechanical with them. If the G20 has any downfalls it will be the paint. Also in 1996 the car came with Recaro seat which in my opinion were more comfortable than seats of today. The car gets great gas mileage and the new 2002 version I have has alot more power than previous model which makes it even more fun to drive than my last one. Customer Service personnel at Infiniti need to be a bit more flexible in meeting customers needs and not so afraid of making a decision in the customer favor. I have had several dealings with customer service only the last 5 years and have never been satisified. Infiniti also needs to make it more clear to the customer about special offers and options on the vehicles that are available. Customer Service needs to keep it promises to the customers as well. Remember it takes months sometimes years to win over a customer but only a moment to loose them. I want to make things clear for the record I love my car but I am very dissatified with Customer Service. I was told on buying my new 2002 vehicle that a full size spare tire was not available. The bank had a order booklet that shows the full size spare tire was available at an additional 150.00 a real bargain in my opinion. My first vehicle arrived after about three weeks waiting for it. It was damage in shipment and another vehicle was ordered. While waiting I asked my saleman about the full size spare and he called Infinti while I waited and we were both told the vehicle had to be special ordered from Japan. The customer service representative said I would not see any vehicle with full size spare if they were not special ordered. I went into Infinti to get my oil changed and found several new Infinti''s with full size tire. I called back on 31 JAN 2002 an spoke with Leanna about this and she informed me that the full size spare was available if the car had a winter package or chrome wheels or was special ordered. I thought Infinti was a Japan owned company. I also thought the people from Japan were honorable. I was wrong on both parts it seems. Still do not have a full size spare and nobody offer to correct problem.

Great commuter car.. I drive 40+ miles a day to work... this car gets over 30 miles per gallon on the highways.. Big trunk.. roomy front and rear seats It''s a nice looking car, it gets great mileage, it''s more spacious than it looks from the outside, and I believe its strength definitely outweigh its weaknesses

Weakness:

The pickup with the automatic transmision is quite poor. When accellerating from a full stop you really have to ease into second gear. If you accellerate too quickly in first gear... The engine will rev and you will maintain the same velocity... After asking my dealler about this I was told, "The engine is desgned that way for fuell efficeincy." If you have a choice get the 5 speed... The cupholders in this car are absolutely awful.. honestly.. dont even think about bringing a drink in with you

I bought this car in August of 2001, a month before it was due to go back to the dealership, at the end of a three year lease. After many phone calls back and forth with Infiniti Financial and the leasing company. I was able to purchase this car.. at cost. After just finishing my own three year lease of an SUV.. I was ready to start driving a CAR... I would reccommend the G20 to someone that is looking for a well designed efficient car.

For a supposed touring car it is very responsive in handing, braking, and shifting.

Weakness:

Well two things: the turning radius sucks and of course the HP, would be cool if Infiniti would offer the SR20DET eng. as an option

I''ve had this ride for a couple of years now, and I do not regret buying this car. I think I got it a pretty good price. Im pretty harsh my car (racing and traffic) but it has done its job. But overall, take care of your maintenance checks and this car will run forever! Im getting ready to put some performace gear on it to increase the HP, can''t wait!!

Handling, Stereo, excellent seating and interior quality, 5spd tranny, heated seats & mirrors, huge glass sunroof, great looks. (Car turns heads with the two tone sport package)

Weakness:

None so far.

This is a car that, when driven right, will make you feel like a champ!!! Make sure to get the 5spd and don''t be afraid to rev it up. The handling is unbelievable thanks to front and rear bars and sport tuned suspension. Also, the limited slip differential is great as it limits the slip thus giving you more traction at start. I cannot say enough about the handling -- there is almost no body lean no matter how fast I enter sharp turns. I got a price quote for mine (fully loaded with every possible option on the G20) from carsdirect.com which then I asked my dealer to match and he did. Owning an Infiniti has been a great experience so far (Hint: Ford/GM/Chrysler). Get yours soon as they will not make the four-banger anymore with the introduction of the G35 next year. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Handles well. Nice looking car. Inexpensive to maintain. Incredibly reliable. Great gas mileage(30 MPG). Very good service from the dealer

Weakness:

Turning radius is unbelievable and even after 2 years of driving I''d catch myself off guard every so often 140 HP is just not enough for hills. On the highway it was not a problem but climbing hills she was not happy.

I drove a 1997 G20 for 2 years prior to moving overseas. I had a hefty commute of 80 miles roundtrip each day. I found the car to handle very well, sporty, tight on the corners. My car was an automatic and I certainly did suffer from too little power when going over the very steep Santa Cruz mountains. Certainly a 5 speed would have solved this problem but would have driven me crazy in the stop and go San Jose highways. The car was maintenance free, not a single problem and very good service at the dealer. I''ll be buying a new car when I return to the States and if only this car came with a V6(or the highways where free and clear and I could drive a stick without contemplating suicide) I would consider this car again. The G35 sounds like a winner engine and performance wise but I don''t like the look of the back of the car, AT ALL.

excellent leather package, top quality Bose system, climate control,

Weakness:

not quite enough "get up and go" power on the engine, small compartments, leg room could be a little better. A V6 engine in this car would definitely put this car at another level. But taking the cost factor into consideration, this is an excellent car for an excellent price.

This car is truly a luxury sedan. I have parked it next to some 323/325/328 BMW''s and I must say that the luxury items on the G20 were just as impressive as those on the BMW''s. The leather in the G20 has a rich luxury look to it which really sets off the interior. I had a Mercedes 190E and this Infiniti has far more luxury than my Mercedes did.

Handling is superior..very responsive and stable. Car has minimal body roll in tight turns, stays flat. Engine has very adequate power if mated with 5 speed..its actually suprising with stong midrange. Dont be afraid to wind it up! Excellent warranty and with roadside assistance. Ergonomics are very good..everything easy to reach and operate. Driver is well posistioned and comfortable. Well built overall with good ride qualities with good steering feel and response. ABS works well...heated seats and mirrors are great! Gets 30 mpg with driving at 70+...could get about 32 at legal speeds. Cruising range almost 400 mi per tank. Trunk lid is somewhat heavy, but comes with hydraulic shocks allowing for a pretty good storage compartment area. Rear seat fold down w/pass thru space to trunk. Antitheft features and front/side airbags a plus. Carpet is not at all plush.. but full rear and twin front mats are very nice high quality...and covers almost all floor area. Bose system generally good...CD''s sound better than when using tuner. Moonroof option works flawlessly...full power features with 45 sec accessory power, auto climate control and auto headlite shut off are geat features.

Weakness:

The only true annoyances I find with this car is the turning radius...much greater than one might expect in a car this size. Also, the clutch has a long throw which takes some getting used to..but works well and shifting/gearshift is smooth procedure. Most previously mentioned weakness''s are true, but somewhat minor in nature sumarizing with the following: truly inadequte cup holders (front), short small console, adequate leg and heaadroom, but foot space tight between dead pedal and clutch. Too much wind noise around windshild at high speeds...road noise not as much a problem..seems fairly well isolated. Remote is weak. I wish this car had glove box and floor courtesy lights...also a alternator guage. Interior could use more wood trim, but this is a subjective thing....dash and interior trim kits are available in aftermarket and available thru some dealerships installed. I would also like a darker window tint...and the sunvisor is too short for much use on side window.

This is an excellent, well equipted and very dependable car for the money...but should really not be compared in many ways with cars costing 10-15k more as often seems to be the case. Actually, for the money..its kind of in a class of its own...too inexpensive to be true "near luxury"...but to expensive to be compared with most more basic trasportation! It is a wonderful upscale type commuter car with all necessary creature comforts, and is very fun to drive. You can buy less reliable high $$ maintenance cars for more money...or less quality built and equipped cars for less. This is a nice compromise, with a quality nameplate, warranty, and reputation for reliability and customer service all at a reaasonable price. Car is sold with most options included...easy to purchase without added expense or suprises, because you dont have to worry about paying thousands more for the car you want over the base price. Dealers willing to negotiate and provide great customer service. Car is available for near invoice pricing as this is the last year for this model. 2002 cars have 16in wheels which are a plus for looks and handling. Car has good history overall.

Strength:

Infiniti quality and luxury for a great price.

Weakness:

No true weakness, it could use better cup holders and a more engine power.

Excellent car for the money. I think consumers forget that the I30 is a Maxima. This car handles better than a BMW but is not as fast. I have a fully loaded luxury model and that is all I would reccomend. The G20 is a Luxury car let''s treat it like one, order it with the Leather seats, Moon roof and 6 CD player. The 4 banger provides ample power but not neck snapping torque. The handling and ride is what makes this car great.

exterior design, interior design, ownership experience, bose sound system, suspension, ABS, and hell of a lot more.

Weakness:

i really can''t complain about the engine because the engine is adequate for the size of the car. but it would be really nice to see that analog clock because it flat out looks cool.

folks, this is flat out an awesome car. it''s like the porshe 944 of sports sedans. since this will be the last year of production i urge you to get your hands on one before it''s all over. true that the engine isn''t as powerful as most of us want it to be, and the car seems have to be protein deficient on it''s journey from europe(like in the commercial, born in japan, educated in europe, available in north america) but let''s keep in mind that it''s a SPORTS SEDAN, not a SPORTS CAR. and if you really want to enhance your speed, then by all means get a turbocharger and supe up your G20. that''ll really get your G20 going, and can dish out a lot of cars such as celicas, integras, tiburons, mustangs, BMW 3 series, RSX''s and so forth. and A.T. is really good as far as performance goes with an A.T. also let''s remember that this is a RALLY CAR that won a rally championship back in 99 i believe under the name of primera. i personally think the sport model is nicer then the luxury because it has better performance, and certainly you can''t complain with the cosmetics you get inside with a sport model, like leather seats with suede, silver faced gauges, very nice rear spoiler, etc. also the bose sound system pretty much makes your G20 as suped up as it can be when it comes to sound. mess with it and it''ll screw things up so i would leave it at that. although i''m surprised why infiniti being a japanese company would use bose rather than something japanese like alpine, kenwood, panasonic, pioneer, or sony. then again lincoln seems to use alpine on their cars, so i really don''t know why it''s like that, but anyways. to conclude, this is just a wicked car to look at as it is to drive. THIS CAR IS "THE SECRET TO SOCIETY". i have heads turning all the time when i have this silver beauty with tinted windows on a parking lot or on the street. and the japanese really out do themselves when it comes to making cars which explains why they are more reliable then german made cars. the japanese will always be the best at making cars in my book, because in the long run, reliability is all that counts which german cars lack a lot. but somehow our backwards world rates german cars with average reliability with little value depreciation, and the japanese cars the other way around. ANYHOW GET THIS CAR, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. WHY? BECAUSE IT''S AN INFINITI, AND IT''S A G20.

Top-Notch Customer Service, Powerful Braking, Solid Build-Quality, Tight and Precise Handling, Tranny Gearing, Ample Ground Clearance (no bottoming out), Aggressive-yet-Classy Styling, Best Warranty, Reliability, Comfort, Ample Roominess (especially headroom), Awesome Climate Control System, I feel VERY safe in this car, ABS System (yes I''ve had to use it) is virtually transparent - there is the slightest pulsing in the brake pedal and no noise - you''d never know you just used it, Capable of whatever you want it to do, I am the envy of my neighbors.

Weakness:

Wide Turn radius (avoid tight U-turns), there could be some more interior storage space (although cargo space is plenty), no glove box light, the only Infiniti model that doesn''t offer Xenon headlights or that cool analog clock. That''s it: all petty complaints.

I LOVE this car! I''ve been reading everyone else''s reviews about the power and cupholders, and I will only agree somewhat. First, this car is not a Porsche, so don''t expect THAT kind of power. What you can expect is a very capable engine that provides a wonderful balance between efficiency and power, which is plenty in this car (w/ 5-speed manual) while getting consistent 30 mpg (even with lots of city/traffic driving. Oh yeah, and breaking the car in does in fact improve power and efficiency). I can easily fry my front tires (done it many times), and above 3000 rpm, definitely zero complaints on power! Cupholders! (can you tell we''re Americans?!) - first of all, understand this car was intended for Europe and Asia - not America - where cupholders are an afterthought. All you have to do is forego the use of the already small center console (hence the lid locks at full upright) and, viola, two very useful cupholders. Beyond that, build-quality, handling, climate control system, and braking are FLAWLESS! Seating is very comfortable. For a car with such compact dimensions, I surprisingly have more headroom than all the other cars I test drove (Accord, Civic, Camry) and I am 6-feet tall. Rear legroom is very ample (although laterally, it''s a slight squeeze with 3 in the back). Also, what sold me (beyond being a great value) was the unbelievable Customer Service Infiniti provides. I literally get the royal treatment every time I call or go in for servicing. The only thing on the car needing replacing so far was the driver''s side vanity mirror, the lighting was faulty. They took care of it, and aggressively made sure I was satisfied. Top-notch service that will make me a repeat customer, 100%. This car is the greatest package, and I got mine, a fully loaded Touring model in beautiful Millennium Jade, for $21,900 brand new! After 13,000 miles, you''d still swear it just came off the showroom floor. Zero regrets with this purchase!
