Strength:

- Very reliable - Looks great - Smooth Powerfull V6 Engine - Awsome Handling - Huge Trunk! - All the perks that you'd expect from a top of the line car in 1993. Power heated mirrors, power sunroof, power windows, cup holders, air condition, air bag.

Weakness:

-When repairs are needed, they are extremelly expensive! -Timing belt will cost an arm and a leg -Ridiculously small back seats -Original paint requires alot of buffing to keep shiny. -Some rust starting to show on sunroof

Overall I have to say I love this car. I bought it over 2 years ago with 160,000 km's(dont know how many miles that is) on it for 6k canadian. I have now driven it to 235,000 km's and its still going strong! I even drove it from Toronto to Miami and back this spring break. Thats around 6000km's back and forth. All I needed after was an oil change! The look of the car is way ahead of its time! I cant think of another 1993 coupe that still looks it could be a new car even today. Some of my less knowledgable friends actually thought it was a new car when i initially bought it and cleaned it up a bit. Girls love it! The pickup is pretty good on the V6 standard version I have, especially considering the milage. Its only 165 horses, so dont expect to be blown away if youve ever driven anything better then a civic, but the engine is very smooth and responsive. The car is also very light despite the heavy look, which combined with the V6 engine, does give a satisfying feeling of tourque when you put the pedal down. I have reached 215km/h in it, but thats pretty much the limit. The problems that I've had with it have been either minor or routine. Brakes, Muffler, broken antenna plastic (cost 50$ at the dealer to replace), and most recently I did have to replace the struts, which did run me a bit. Other than that its been smooth sailing, but I will have to replace the timing belt (overdue by about 35k), and maybe the shocks, which I believe are still the original, but as long as they hold up ill keep driving.

Strength:

1)Great looking car 2)Well priced for what you get 3)Well rounded, performance wise 4)HONDA KILA

Weakness:

1)Paint life 2)Aftermarket Parts? Quality ones are hard to find (Damn Honda) 3)Premium gas? (Oh please!) 4)No recognition (ricers always want a piece because they think it's a easy win) 5)Canadian winters? A big no no... 6) Rule #1 Never associate yourself with Ford! 7)Brakes are a pain 8)Electical System played games at the start

I bought this car about 10,000 Km's ago with low Km's on it. It was good then with the 2.5L V6 KL engine in it. It's even better now that I have the J-Spec KL-ZE. The interior is spot on what I expect from a sports car. While it may be a bit cheap, the way it wraps around you makes you feel in control of the car. The suspension is great in corners, but you do start to feel the road a little too much sometimes. The engine is evenly distributed and moves well at all speeds. I really Mazda had discovered VVT when this car was put out though. Cabin noise is sometimes non exsistant and can easily be drowned out with the sound system that comes with it. All in all, I think this car is a good starter sports car for anybody who loves to drive. Just be sure that you don't get a Lemon. Research! And if you get the chance! J-Spec it!

Actuall this is my second mazda mx-6. The current one i have had only a few months and the first i had till i wercked it. What can i say... best car i ever owned. when i wrecked my first one i refused to buy annother car till i found an mx-6. It has some problems though, The calipurs needed to be replaced on BOTH cars. my first had bad electrical problems. both needed rear brake jobs. Actualaters in the trunk were collapsed. lights are foged over. gasket in the valve cover went and needed repair. some guy said that the timing belts were 5.5 to 6 hrs labor. he got ripped off. did it myself and it took me 30 min. you can work on them yourself if you know what your doing.

Strength:

Able to hit 115 mph at only about 4.5 krpm. Reasonable sound system. Good driver-side seating space--I am 6'3" and have no problems driving. Engine warms up quickly, and thus heater works quickly ihe winter.

Weakness:

Poor electrical system--I have had failures of the windshield wiper/turn signal triple switch, the HVAC selector panel, the CD player, and the alternator. I have also had failure of the clear coat. I have also had a failure of the retracting antenna motor. I have also had the intake gasket buckle, leading to stalling and low energy (which was also found on the sister car, the Ford Probe, in the next service bay at the garage I use).

Except for the fact that this car gets me from one point to another, and that the 4 cylinder engine winds up to 115 effortlessly, this car is a dog. I have had so many problems with it, especially electrical failures, that it just makes one wonder what was going on when they redesigned this car.

Strength:

Tank like durability/very strong 4cyl/great handeling/pretty good looks for its age/a very fun car to drive

Weakness:

NO CUPHOLDER

This car is one of the best pruchases i have ever made. Its a $800 4 banger that literaly out ran a mustang (although i now have to buy new axles because it was drove a little to hard for the 170000 miles on it). But still for a car with almost 200K on it it runs like a champ. It has great handeling and dosent look bad at all for its age. Its just as great as a car as any little civic or other little compact and a heck of a lot faster.

Strength:

- great acceleration, though there is torque steer - fast with great handling - good reliability - style still looks contemporary - nice interior

Weakness:

- not great in the snow - repair / maintenance costs can be very expensive - easily chipped and dented - goes through tires quick - can't do repairs yourself - what rear seats??

I've had my car since 1996, when I bought it used with 50,000 KM on it. It's a V6, 5 speed. Today it has 192,000 KM on it, and is still going strong. I expect it will drive to 400,000 KM with ease. All prices Canadian dollars ($1 US = 1.6 CDN). 1 mile = 1.6KM I've had very few repairs: distributor leads ($?), O2 sensor ($?), rear left caliper seized ($360), rear right brake cable replaced ($200), and the general wear and tire items -- brakes, muffler. The water pump though, went this week, so I had the timing belt, acc., and p/s belts replaced at the same time ($800). I consider this last repair / maintenance to be prohibitively expensive. To get to the timing belt requires 5.5-6 hours of labour alone, and you're supposed to replace it every 100 k or so. My shocks/struts went at about 100k miles, and I have not replaced them yet. Other problems included a leaking valve gasket, which could cause potential oil build-up in the spark plug wells. This problem disappeared on it's own. Overall, I consider the reliability to be quite good for a "sports" car, and it still handles well, and accelerates beautifully considering it's 8 years old! I'd buy a Mazda again.

Smooth ride, strong engine, well designed dash- easily accessed instrument panel. The outside of the vehicle is my favorite. Just look at it- ahead of it's time.

Weakness:

Oxidation on paint. (my vehicle)

This is my second Mazda MX-6. (My first was totaled in an accident- the airbags- worked very well!) The present Mazda runs wonderfully and fortunately (for me) neither vehicles have EVER had any major mechanical problem. Extrememly reliable vehicle- drives smooth, nice lines inside and out. The cars smart styling- still is up to date. I would definately recommend the Mazda MX-6 to anyone shopping around.
