Strength:

Powerful engine. Aesthetically pleasing design. Good fuel economy. Well built. Ultra-cool.

Weakness:

None to speak of, other than kryptonite

I am the original owner of my 1994 Mazda MX-6 LS and have enjoyed each of its 154, 220 miles to the utmost. The V6 engine is as fresh and powerful today as it was when it was purchased in 1995. Mazda makes one helluva machine and I'm only now beginning to have the first symptoms of new car fever. From the sleek design to the great gas mileage and lack of any major mechanical problems, other than general maintenance, I am completely enamored with this vehicle, affectionately named " the phantom cruiser". It handles like a dream and still looks better than alot of what I see on the road today.

Strength:

chicks like it, sounds tits with all straightpipe exaust. sharpe lookin car expessially with the rims i got on it. revs high for a v6 (7000rpm)

Weakness:

v6 engine has not nearly as much torque as youd think. the transmission is also too sporty, especially first gear, i dont get much out of first and it tops out at like 115mph. (which is very quick but i thought it would be faster)

overall, its a prety decent car. ive had a lot of trans problems and a few minor engine problems but its relativly fast with the exhuast and intake modifications.

Strength:

Turbo in working condition, rocks Not too expensive looking, but just sporty enough Quick on the start Comfortable car

Weakness:

NO cupholders, what are they thinking? Import car, expensive to replace parts

Ok I found this little beauty and thought to myself this car is gonna suck. And i have to say boy was i wrong. 1990 with 32000miles on it, it was a steal let me tell ya. The turbo runs hard and hot, not too many problems with the car. Maintence is a must, however i love my quater mile time of 15.01 and it has nothing done too it.

Strength:

The mileage, (177,852),still runs like new and the power.

Weakness:

Has onley one cup holder and the power windows cost alot to get fixed at a dealership. Parts are also expensive.

This car is my first car and while my friends were out spending lots of money on a 2002, I saved my money to fix it up. It is a nice little car that moves quickly,(119mph), and gracefully on the roads.

Strength:

horsepower for its class, reliablity

Weakness:

fuel tank is small, yet car is economical

Mx-6 is a very good sports car for its class. In performance it can smoke most Hondas (civics, accords) even with there type-r racing add ons and such. This car has descent overall hp, and has potential to be upgraded with aftermarket parts(although parts are harder to find for mazda) Do not believe people that say the Ford Probe is basicly the same car.. MX-6 has better handling, engine, performace, etc.. probe is something to be ashamed of,I would recommend this vehicle for somone who is looking for a quality sports car that will not depreciate significantly... is reliable yet very sporty. Thanks.

Model Reviewed: Mazda MX6

Strength:

Driving this car has been a blast when there isn't something wrong with it. Somehow, it manages to get about 35 miles to the gallon. The sunroof is awesome and the stereo system is factory and still sounds incredible. It is a very comfy car and has lots of trunk space. It looks very sporty, and people are always astounded when I tell them it is a 93. They always say it looks newer than that. There is still NOT ONE SPOT OF RUST on that car. For only being a 4 cylinder, it has awesome pickup. Cruise control is very nice, and the heater and A/C has always been great.

Weakness:

All the repairs. At high speeds of 70+, it has a shimmy that I am not fond of. The seats are regular upholstery, and there is a hole starting to wear on the driver’s side. The trunk keyhole has never worked, and the keyholes on the doors have broken 3 off my keys off. I recently received a letter from the Mazda Company, saying that in the 93-96 models, the CV joints are especially weak when driven in areas where they use road salt in the winter, which would explain why mine keep going out. The engine compartment is hard to access; my Dad hates to work on it because he can't get his hands into it. Tires are a pain to get off when changing because of the rims. And my windshield is such a pain on cold days, as it fogs up, and the only way to unfog it is to turn on the AC full blast. And that is not good in the winter. And for this car, parts are very difficult to find. Most parts stores do not readily carry them and have to order them - especially the battery. It is a reverse block battery, and almost NO ONE carries them; very inconvenient when the battery dies in the middle of Podunk Kentucky!! And GOOD LUCK finding a place that carries tires for this car.

I purchased this car to get me through until I could finish college and save some money to buy a brand new car. I should have kept looking. When I purchased the car, there was nothing wrong with the body, and everything electrically worked. A few days after I drove it home, the fuel distributor went out and that was $500 to fix. That was only the beginning. Then the muffler broke. About 6 months later, I had to replace one of the trans-axles. The next endeavor was a strange clicking noise when turning the wheel to the right. It turned out to be the right CV joint, which was $225 to fix. Now the other joint is going bad. Recently, I also had to fix a part of the muffler above the catalytic converter place...add another 200 bucks. I cannot accurately gauge whether this car is a lemon, or if 117,000 miles is about the point when this car starts to go downhill.

Be careful....look very closely at repair records and the condition of the car before you buy it. I have gotten my fair use out if, but the reapirs have been a headache.
