Strength:

Smooth yet sporty ride
Very quiet
Good stereo
Fantastic seats
Great looks

Weakness:

16" rims, should go to 17's with a larger touring tire
Frameless widows look great, but will be trouble over time
More HP!! Give us 240 or 245
An optional Nav system would have been nice

This is an absolutely awsome car. Great ride, great looks, decent power, great fit and finish, just flat out classy.

I drove every car in the 28K to 35K price range, and for the money the Diamante won, hands down. I almost went with an Acura TL Type-S for the power and the Nav system, but the price was non-negotiable, and I want the most for my money.

Model Reviewed: Mitsubishi Diamante Wagon

Strength:

Reliable, comfortable, solid

Weakness:

Brakes, fuel pump, electric windows

(pre 1997 Model) - I think this model (the wagon) is Mitsubishi's knock-off of an Audi. Bought it from a dealer in Md. It was coming off a Budget Renta-a-Car leaase, so I got it for $15K w/13K miles and drivetrain warranty until 2001! Strong engine, solid car, luxurious for it's class. Very few made (in Australia, no less!) so not high on car-thieves' list, thus low insurance. Strangely, the front brake rotors have had to be retrimmed twice and need it again; they keep warping (may be an overtightening from an earlier servicing and so just this car) Needed a new battery last year and new fuel pump 3/99. Otherwise, a great car and great value! Too bad they stopped making the wagon.

Strength:

Powertain, body design, brakes, seats and sound system.

Weakness:

Rear end bottoms out when slowly going down a moderately slanted drive way with only one 115 Lb.person in back seat. Same happens with front end going up with two people in front seats.

Outstanding vehicle in every respect. Compares very favorably with previously owned BMW 7 and 6 series vehicles. Powertrain is the most outstanding feature...Quick off the mark, smooth shifting and quiet. Brakes performed flawlessy on coast to coast trip. almost "ate it" when 18 wheeler moved over into outside lane when I was passing doing 85. Brakes held beautifully, with no rear end sway or front end shimmy.

Strength:

Very responsive throttle. Lots of consealed power (needs to be brought out though) This engine can easily output about 300hp ...

Weakness:

Brakes Brakes and Brakes !!! Grinding noise even on brand new rotors and pads ! Pads wear off in a month. Original air intake is unnecesserily restrictive (two useless chambers and small panel filter)

Love the car. Excellent Interior and very original exterior. Great Wood/Leather combo. Super comfortable ergonomicly design features.
Nice seat memorey that's actually useful. Very comfortable for rear pasenger. (Rear reading lights are relly neat)
Engine was too restricted for quiteness and emission, but after few inexpansive modofications sounds like beautiful V8. (thanks to K&N filter and new intake) That also boosted power to about 220hp from original 202hp.

Had Honda accord, tried BMW M3 and virtually anything out-there. Diamante is strong in its class. Good value for the money.

Strength:

Superior styling which is timeless, stereo, and all of the above.

Weakness:

Low resale price which here in Oz is 20k for a trade on a 45k new one.
Gearbox was a problem very early on (a 20c ciclip) replaced under warranty.

My previous 2 cars were BMW'S. They don't hold a candle to this car. Smooth, powerful, quiet, great seats, aircon, stereo , handling and looks. I can throw this car into any corner at any speed and know I'm gonna come out the other side ok. Put harder front brake pads on the front and stopped all brake problems. I'm about to trade in on a new one which now has factory roof , computer, traction control and even better fuel economy.

In my opinion this car is (in Oz)equivalent to a 100k BMW or Merc. A 318i exec which still doesn't have half the stuff std on a verada is 65k!

Leather, every little button works! auto control climate. Super soft power steering. Hide away sun roof. Awesome looks inside and out. Just cant say enough about it. It dials 150mph and I know that it does at leats 147.

Weakness:

I would have to agree with every body else that the breaks are weird. I'm getting ready to do an upgrade on em. The vibrate at high speeds(65 and above)thats only $275. a very small prize to pay for such a great car.

Very nice car. Great looks, I have full leather in very nice condition. Amaizing detail inside and out. Built to last. Mine is 10 years old and in mint condition. Very nice and clean under the hood too. Just a very very nice car over all.

very smooth, very comfortable, greeat looks, affordable, powerfull engine.

Weakness:

i have noticed that the steering wheel shakes sometimes when i brake, im not sure what that is but nothing else so far.

I only had the car for about 3 weeks, i love the looks, it looks like a bmw. Mine has every option besides a CD player. including tinted glass. im only 16 and did not ever think i would have a car that looks like that this soon. It has 134,000 and everyone says its nothing for that car. Its so quiet and smooth.

The car is beautiful. Really turns heads. The stereo is awesome, the leather is nice and the woodgrain really sets the interior off. I am only 20yrs old and bought the car for its looks, but its time to sell it.

Weakness:

First, the brakes are god awfull, the rotors needed to be replaced after about 5,000 mi. The transmission has a mind of its own. It drinks gas BAD. Other than that it has been a great car.

ok
