Even the 95 is still the latest model. The best bang for the bucks. Com'' on how can you find a similar car (1995 latest model) with such amenities for only NZ$ 7,700 (equal to US$ 3,000). Seat is excellent. Overall it is a very good buy.
Weakness:
Squeeking noise in the brake, but I don''t care. Are you guys aware that there are 2 version of Diamantes : Australian made and Japanese made. I have both of them, 96 OZ and 95 Japanese one. The OZ one is sucks, while the Japanese one is excellent. It has "only" 2.5 L under the hood but it is a DOHC and the latest model. It comes with all bells and whistle such as : climate air, CD/Cassette receiver, electric seat, front arm rest, adjustable front head rest (can move forward), rear head rest adjustable too, etc. I have driven Diamante for only 2 months but now I am falling in love with it that I bought 2 diamantes in the last 2 months, but I am going to sell the OZ one. Overall, this car is the best bang for the bucks, old model is still up to date, and the interior is very good. Handling is moderate, interior is quite roomy and the trunk space is good. Mitsubishi Diamonte
Strength:
Smooth Ride, Excellent Handling, Very roomy, Nice sized trunk and decent factory sound speakers.
Weakness:
the Breaks constantly squeak. I think this is a problem with all mitsubishi diamontes due to its excessive weight, its a very heavy car at about 3700 pounds. After driving american for 4 years, a mitsubishi was a nice change of pace for me. I liked a lot of the extra stuff that came with it like trunk cd changer, Leather interior and power everything. Mine came with tinted windows all around so it looked very nice. I am glad that the 93'' isnt plagued by some of the problems that the newer mondels are. Diamante LS
Strength:
Sound system is fantastic. The CD changer sits over the wheel hub, so sometimes going over big bumps causes some jarring, though.
Weakness:
Of course the braking system is a big problem. No one should have to replace the brakes as much as I have had to. The car developed a problem with smoke coming from the tail pipe at around 80,000 miles, and it seems that every Diamante I see on the road has this same problem. I wonder why this hasn''t been addressed by more people. The paint job is questionable as there has been significant peeling both inside and out. When this vehicle first came on the market, I fell in love with it immediately, and although it took about 5 years, I eventually bought a pre-owned one with 17,000 miles on it. Within one month I had to have the brakes replaced, and have been doing that almost every year since. Even after the first time I was told that the rotors were worn down so much that the next time they would have to be replaced. Other than the brakes, the car was a dream to me. The ride was smooth compared to my Honda Accord; much quicker in the acceleration, better sound system, lots of bells and whistles. Within a few months I had to have the stereo replaced, but that was under warranty ( I think I ended up with a refurbished one, though). The back light on the new one soon went out, but that''s a minor inconvenience since I know what stations I have preset into the system. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Almost everything. Smooth, quiet, powerful, comfortable, spacious, good looking and excellent features. I don''t know about in the US, but here now they have a tiptronic transmission too which is cool.
Weakness:
No complaints. Very reliable (Up to 150,000 kms with no probs yet). Build quality excellent and nothing lacking. My brother actually brought the car, but I thought I''d write anyway. In Australia it''s called the Verada but its the same thing. The Verada is a sensational overall package that offers great value for money. I don''t know about there, but you can pick up one of these babies (1 or 2 years old) here for the cost of a new Lancer. So much better!e Similar Products Used: Holden Calais (Australian luxury car). The holden is a nice car, but lacks the refinement that the Verada offers. The Holden V6 is also noisy and rough, unless you get it with the 5.7l chev engine. No |

ENGINE IS GREAT. A/C CONTROLS VERY EASY TO WORK. REAR SEATS COMFORTABLE. GOOD TRUNK SPACE.
Weakness:
DONT'' SHUT THE DOOR WITH THE WINDOW DOWN. SOUNDS LIKE THE DOORS ON A TOYS-R-US CHILD CAR. PRONOUNCED WIND NOISE. NO LUMBAR SUPPORT ON EITHER FRONT SEAT. TRANSMISSION HORRIBLE. SHEET MEATAL TOO THIN ON BODY. FRAME NOT VERY STIFF. CAN HEAR CREAKING AND MOANING AS BODY TWISTS. CHEAP CARPET. POORLY BUILT. HAVE HAD NONSTOP PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION SHUDDER, ERRATIC SHIFTING, AND EXAGGERATED GROANING IN POWER STEERING SYSTEM, EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE ENTIRE RACK UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER SEEMS INCAPABLE OF DEALING WITH THE PROBLEMS. WIND NOISE PRONOUNCED AT HIGH SPEEDS. WOULD NEVER BUY THIS CAR AGAIN. Similar Products Used: SIMILAR? THAT''S A LOADED QUESTION. Diamante Wagon
Strength:
Styling, firm suspension, handling, little wind noise, adequate power 175 hp, good braking, nice sound system, comfortable amenities.
Weakness:
Perhaps a little more power - read that - Torque. A turbo would be perfect. Wonderful automobile! Agile for a wagon.. perhaps closer in handling to that of a sports sedan. Terrific gas mileage, good power, quiet, good sound system, nice styling. Overall a very well designed and engineered automobile. After purchasing in Scottsdale, AZ I had the opportunity to test the road handling ability outside of Flagstaff west to Las Vegas. In some twisting mountain terrain the car was stable to speeds of 95mph. This is with the stock 15" wheels and tires. Impressive. It now has 18" wheels and 235/40 tires. Do yourself a favor.. If you looking for a wagon and you locate a Diamante in good condition.. Take it for a spin.. and you'll probably take it home. A keeper! Strength:
Muscular looks, strong, quiet V6. Leather is great quality compared to many in class. Stereo system is top-notch. Great value when compared to alternatives like Toyota Avalon, Lexus ES300, and Acura TL.
Weakness:
Looks a little too much like the Galant. And what's with that horn? Great car. I owned '91 Diamante ES for 7 years and 110k miles and loved it. Strayed away regrettably ('98 Maxima). But I'm back with the 2001 LS and very happy. I checked out all the vehicles in the $25-35K range and could find none that matched the Diamante in looks, performance and overall value. Similar Products Used: Maxima, Accord V6. No comparison, Diamante is in a different league. Much smoother ride, more luxurious inside and out. Much more of a powerful, luxury car than any in the $25-30K range. |

Diamante LS
Strength:
The exterior and interior looks are outstanding. The leather interior and its engine (dual V6 2400) are the best parts that i want to emphasize. Its performance is great and it is similar to any race car.
Weakness:
Geez.. where do i begin? The brake parts are expensive for this car as well as brake rotors. I can understand that this car is luxury but come on.. We (consumers) want to receive the good service from the mitsubishi dealership and reasonable prices for the necessary parts. I have other problems with that car which back tires on the car are crooked, the air ride is broken, the engine is leaking oil since there is a white smoke coming from the muffler. I am beginning to think that this car is not built to last a lifetime. The manufacturers should build durable and less problematic cars to guarantee the customer satisfaction. That is all i have to say. More to follow later! I've stated more of it in the weaknesses category. Similar Products Used: None |
