Strength:

i absolutely love the looks & ride

Weakness:

like everyone else-brakes are high maintenance & constant worry....
I burn a lot of oil too - my mechanic puts in "strait 50" oil.(whatever that means). My newest problem - my SRS light won't go out. Should I be concerned??

108,000 miles and still turning heads! Parts (like many other imports) are
too expensive.

Strength:

Great acceleration and manuvering. Stereo System sounds great for a factory
sound system. Headlights go off after opening drivers door. Wood trim gives the vehicle a very rich look.

Weakness:

The engine seems to make a light tapping noise. Brakes constantly squeak. Parts are very expensive. The windows seem to build up a film after using the a/c even when placing the system on the fresh air setting.

I have only owned the vehicle for about a years time, and I must say that I am stunned on the power the Diamante puts out considering it's size. I am happy with the car except for the tapping noise of the engine. My mechanic told me it's the fuel injectors, but I don't think that's the problem. If anyone has any idea on what might be causing this problem please let me know. The cars has 104,700 miles on it, but if this is going to be a long term problem maybe it's best to let this car go.

Weakness:

Awful Customer Service, Vibration, Questionnable transmission activity, second rate material quality (cheap looking wood dress, cheap grade leather interior), Awful brakes/rotors and wind noise.

Overall I am very unhappy with this car. The transmission is unpredictable in its shift modes. Brakes and rotors are downright cheap. This car is in no way any competition for the likes of Lexus, Infiniti or Acura. There is highly too much wind and outside noise for a car in this class. I believe what Mitsubishi's problem is 1.) They make a nicely designed car and never try to bring out the cars full potential next year after its first year in existence. They don't try to expand the vehicle(i.e. improving brakes/rotors, new more powerful motors, chassis strengthening, improving the transmission). 2.) They skimp on what they call "Certified Pre Own" (brakes & rotors). 3.) They cut absolutely too many corners in odd areas like no light under the hood of the car????? No sunshade extenders???
Overall this car has the potential to be a real nice car but Mitsubishi has to learn how to improve a car year after year NOT make one design and leave it the same for 5 years. For anyone having problems with brakes and rotors call Stillen Aftermarket Parts (800)576-2833.

I previously owned a 94 Infiniti J30 which is a very very sound vehicle with unparalleled styling and reliability. This Diamante LS does not stand a chance against my previous car. I think Mitsubishi of North America should take a class in Customer Service from the likes of Acura, Infiniti or Lexus. i.e. (Loaners, answers for problems with your vehicle and stop lying about pre owned certified vehicle which is a outright LIE)

Well, I got a phenomenal deal becuase I bought it from my sister for 3 G's, and like everyone says it's great for the money yadda yadda... Best about it? It looks like money.. really. Everyone loves it, it's comfy, roomy, and I totally love the leather and wood trim. I love how you can unlock all the doors from the driver's side, how the windshield wipers slow down when you are stopped, how it's so quiet and so fast, how the headlights automatically turn off when you open the door in case you forget, the radio controls on the steering wheel..I know there's alot more, but I can't remember them all..

Weakness:

worst.. hmm.. well the only thing I really dont like is that my back seat doesnt fold down..or at least not to my knowledge.

It handles beautifully, especially at high speeds down curvy back roads. I've had the car up to about 120/125 mph, and I must say it drove absolutely smooth.. no shaking, nothing. The car looks great customized, and I love how there aren't any others around. Also, it has about 125,000 miles on it and everything is great, although I am starting to burn a tad bit of oil, it's still a great car. =)
Who should buy it? Anyone concerned with saving alot of money, having a great looking car, and having a car that will last forever.
Who shouldn't buy it? Anyone in my neighborhood hahaha..

Strength:

great v6 engine - plenty of power for me to drive to school and get around in. looks great in every way. its a steal for the price i paid for it. interior is very nice and roomy. basically, just a beatiful car that i am very proud to own.

Weakness:

front and rear deck speakers are a bit buggy (the car is almost 10 years old), should have bought this car sooner!

i look forward to driving this car everyday. it is such a pleasure to own. im very glad i dont see 20 on the road everyday like i do with accords, camrys, etc. granted, those are great cars, but the diamante is far superior in my opinion. this car is great for anyone who wants power and luxury in one great package for a low price. great car, find one now!

Strength:

first off, still owed 9,000 on a 1995 Diamanti when purchased. (you do the math)Car runs great, like the V6-210hp, exstream exceleration, don't see many others on the road, and don't expect too.

Weakness:

* Not quiet enough for me at times, didn't like the factory tires that came with product, and can't predict the transmissions activity at times. Oh! can't forget the value (not so good)
* There is a weard play in teh strearing column that can be felt through the strearing wheel it's self.
*Techs are aware but don't seem to have answers as to why.
* Parts are just to dam costly!
*Car takes many bad raps from auto review mags and testers!

Well! I was not pleased when my AC Compressor Clutch Assemby wen't at 60,000 K. (However, I think it had to do with my getting caught in a rain storm - water was as high as the front hood!)
* After changing the tires to aftermarket 16" Crome Cyclops with Hankook tires to complament, very impressive look.
* Holds steady at high speads / 110 was the highest (don'tyou tell!) didn't even shake.
* Ride feels great when tires are balanced just right (pay attention to factory specs (29 front - 26 rear) no matter the tire, makes a difference.
Beginning to get noisey now at 67,000 K ( yes I drive a lot)
* Great car, feels good to be in, and I think I made a wise buy, this time.
** Still need more time to learn the car.

Strength:

This car delivers the ride, handling, acceleration and overall performance that you expect from a luxury car. You never grow tired of its interior or exterior looks. You get ample interior storage and a large trunk. Build quality is excellent.

You should test drive a Diamante before buying any luxury car. You will be amazed at how good it is.

Weakness:

I have had no problems and know many other Diamante owners that have gotten over 180,000 miles without a problem. I am active on automotive web forums and have noted several Diamante owners mentioning warped rotors. I have done extensive research and have found that this is not a problem common to the Diamante. It is a problem that can happen with any car and is caused by overtorqueing of wheel lug nuts. I have written a comprehensive article on this at http://www.geocities.com/diamanteowner/article2.htm

I don't care much for the Goodyear Eagle GA tires. They have to be balanced on a force varience machine due to sidewall stiffness variations. I will change to Michelin when these wear out. At the current wear rate, the Goodyears will easily reach 50,000 miles - not bad.

An excellent car with a beautiful exterior and interior. The exterior is the kind of timeless styling that will look good long after the competition goes out of style, and it is unique and gets a lot of positive comments. The interior is very attractive, with first-rate materials and a warm, luxurious look. I like the large glovebox and large two-tiered center console storage.

I have owned for two years and 15,000 miles and have found reliability to be excellent. No defects at all. All body parts are perfectly aligned. Underhood service access is excellent.

The ride is very smooth and quiet, receiving many compliments from passengers. The leather seats are very comfortable. I can drive for hours without getting tired. All controls are easy to find and use. Handling is very competent. The car is fun to drive energetically. Acceleration is very strong and immediate. The engine/transmission combination is excellent, with power at any speed and shifts that are always where they should be.

I get 20 MPG in town and 28 MPG on the highway. This is what I would expect for the Diamante's power and weight class.

The trunk is very large with a low liftover. There is no pass-through, but that has not been a problem. I can carry 8-foot long boards in the passenger compartment by reclining the passenger seatback and sliding the board in from the front door, over the seatback and to the rear window shelf.

The stereo is first-rate, with very good imaging and sound quality.

Mitsubishi only imports about 10,000 Diamante's a year, so advertising is not cost-effective. This keeps the Diamante relatively unknown, but also keeps the price low. Instead of spending big bucks on advertising, Mitsubishi will offer rebates that make the Diamante an ever better value.

I owned the Diamante predecessor (87 Galant) and it was the best car I ever owned. No mechanical problems for 12 years and 110,000 miles. Never needed an alignment and the rotors were never resurfaced. My wife has an 89 Galant with 80,000 miles and has never had a problem. No mid-sized or luxury car I have rented comes close to the Diamante in overall comfort and performance.
