Strength:

3.5 V6 that gets 205hps.
Power seats
Standard Leather.
Kick ass handeling/smooth ride
Great Radio/tape/cd system.
Very quiet
STRONG STYLING
Very Quiet at 90-95MpHs, no shaking or noises.

Weakness:

Brakes could be better.
Those Michelin Tires are very expensive. ($195 each)
Parts are expensive (front rotor 267 for each)
Dome Light went out
New York City Kills Cars.
Light weight rear causes drifts at high speed (100mphs)
Very few to none aftermarket performance part.

This car was a beauty when i bought it. It had a lot of power and handels like a dream. The dealer didn't have to do a lot to get me to buy it. I just saw it on the lot and fell in love with it. The v6 will get you were you going and is steady at 85-90mphs. The fuel economy is good. However no lie and I have proof of it. After a Jiffy Lube power flush of my car to get rid of all the crap in the engine i got 215miles on half a tank of gas. I don't know what happened but i got scared and let it go its course down to empty and when it was done i got 300+ miles. The car is my first car and I love it so much. I baby it when i get a chance and the ride is incredible. Everyone loves the car who see's it and i can't blame them. I think mitsu' really should give the engine some more juice and bump it too 230hps.

As you can tell i love speed and push the car very fast.

I really do recommend this car to ANYONE and EVERYONE.

Strength:

Beautiful ride, great stero, very reliable, best car I've ever owned and a real head turner, I have received many compliments even now with 135k miles on it a wash and wax and it looks new and modern.

Weakness:

I think the mpg could be better. I get 21-25 mpg with mixed driving but mostly on the intersate at 75mph. Buying premium fuel is expensive and required.

strongly recommended as a comfotable commuter. I miss owning a truck (fishing and hunting) and will probably return to one after I hit 200k on the Mitsu.

Similar Products Used:

Honda accord, the Honda is as comparable, probably better mpg and resale, however the performance and ride doesn't compare to the Mitsu.

Strength:

This was by far the best car I ever owned. It drives like a dream and the stereo system sounds great. There was hardly a 1st time passenger in my car who didn't comment on how well the car rode. It was a joy to own and I received many compliments on it. It had a lot of get up and go. Smooth ride.

Weakness:

I guess if I had to come up with a weakness, it would be the brakes. Had it in shop maybe once a year for brakes. I just sold car yesterday because of oil leak and Mitsubishi told me it would be over $1000 to repair so I opted for new car since this one had 165,000 miles on it. Well I bought a '98 Sport Ford Explorer and I do like it, but it does not drive as well as Diamante and Stereo system is no where as nice. I just bought Explorer yesterday and already wishing I had just bought another Diamante. They are really great cars.

Definitely recommend it. You will not be disappointed. Once you buy one, you may get hooked.

Strength:

Powerful and stylish, the car holds its own with the new models of luxury cars.

Weakness:

The deluxe stereo/alarm system is a bit buggy after 90k miles.

I paid $10K for the car, best deal I've made in some time. I get compliments daily from co-workers and associates. For the price, you can't beat a car like this.

Strength:

Beautiful, Fast, Roomy, easy for me to handle. Love to pass on the freeway.

Weakness:

Cheap Quality in some areas, i.e. the horn. You can see where Mitsu cut corners when they dropped the price.

I would recommend it to anyone who like me wants a roomy car with good looks and a lot of standard equipment for not too much money. My other considerations were Maxima, Camry and Accord. Maxima the price goes up for things that should be standard but are options for instance, an automatic transmission. Camry and Accord although you can't beat the reliability, just didn't do it for me. Too many on the road I would have felt like I was part of a Stepford movie. Actually, I went to purchase a Galant and determined that it was just too small. So I decided on the Diamante. After reading the Review on Edmunds I was kind of sad. But this car drives really good and I love it. By the way, my neighbor keeps walking up in my driveway looking at. He says the same thing "Boy that sure is a good looking car"
What did you say the name of it is? What a compliment. And all I did was buy it and drive it home.

Strength:

Unique and excellent styling both interior and exterior
Very Good reponsive engine. Good acceleration.
Good stock stereo system.
Good braking performance from high speeds!
Good luxury spacoius feel, nice leather!
Over ALL Good value for money!!!

Weakness:

* No lumbar support for drivers side. I believe 2000 models have it now.
* Very sensitive feel of the road via the steering wheel. Should dampen vibrations when hitting depressions etc on road..
* Flimsy center storage. should strenghten.
* The Engine sticker has come off the intake manifold, should use better glue!

No regrets with this car. Bought it for only for $19,900 for a demo model with only 4,800 miles!!!

Now after 2 months and now 8,000 miles still going strong.

This is one car I look forward to driving everyday.
I do not think this car is cheap, rather I think this car is very good value for the money I paid.

Strength:

Great power and acceleration, looks good, comfortable ride, fairly quiet,
good fit and finish, areal joy to drive.

Weakness:

Had too many problems with the air conditioner. Ended up replcing almost the whole system in about 18 months. Good thing I had an extended warranty.
Rearseat leg room insufficient.

I have really enjoyed driving this car. I would recommend it to someone else. But they need to improve the room in the back seat. I also did not like the way the dealer troubleshot the a/c problem. It is built well and has held up well for the most part.

Strength:

Sharp-looking, roomy, smooth and relatively quiet with a powerful engine.

Weakness:

Poor-quality glass has excessive optical distortion. The single, tiny motorcycle-style horn under the hood on the base "ES" model is an insult given that the wiring for dual horns is right there! Wind-noise around the A-pillars and mirrors is a little loud. Also there were wind-leaks on both rear windows due to a poorly-designed rubber seal (this can be fixed by adding foam weather-stripping behind the factory seal for a tighter fit where the glass, door, and body all meet). 14-inch tires on base ES model make for soggy handling. There is no trunk pass-through in the rear seat. NHTSA has recorded many complaints of air-bags that failed to deploy on Mitsubishis involved in serious front-end collisions. The 3.5-liter V-6 is smooth and quiet but prone to premature failure of crankshaft oil seals at around 50-60,000 miles. On my car, two different engine belt pullies were replaced under warranty for noise from bad bearings. Transmission shifts seem either slow and soft or jarringly abrupt.

In late 1998, Mitsubishi was offering a $4,500 factory-rebate on the $27,400 list price for the based "ES". A few dealers advertised year-end blow-out prices of just $21,000. The factory CD-player added $400 which is a high price for such a simple unit. Personally, I immediately spent $150 upgrading the wheel-covers and tiny motorcycle-type horn while also adding a leather steering-wheel cover and aftermarket fog lights.

Quality is inferior to rival products from Toyota and Honda but the price is far cheaper than Lexus or Acura. Still, this is better than most American cars.

Strength:

Smoothest ride there is with Michelin Energy MXV4 plus's. Good acceleration roomy, very comfy, good chisled looks, one of the few cars with a "beautiful behind".

Weakness:

Some body roll during hard cornering but take that or luxurious ride cant have both. It is not very popular yet, Mitsubishi should spend more on ads on the Diamantes than the Galants. Rotors get warped, mine did at 26000 miles but they were "grind" worthy so I am not worried. The gear shift looks a bit Tacky. The front grille needs to be more upscale.

I fell in love with this car the first time I saw it from behind, I knew I had to check it out. The interior on the LS blew me away, I said wow, and ran to get my wife in...

The engine has lots of Torque and ample passing power. I think based on current competition, The 3.5L V6 needs to be updated, all competitors namely Acura 3.2TL, Lexus ES300, Infiniti I30 have upped the horsepower on their engines while the Mitsu remains at 210.

I think this is a lot of car for the money, it has a great ride.

Similar Products Used:

Lexus ES300, had a smoother engine but is very sexless compared to the Diamante, the ES300 is bland. The Infiniti I30 does not have the refined ride as the Diamante.
