Weakness:

mechanics are clueless to them, and the dealership is rediculously expensive, but worth it because they know what they're doing.

Anyone with tranny problems MUST read this. The right transmission fluid is KEY. If you get your repaired and it breaks down soon after, its the fluid ALOT of the time. These cars have a chrysler trans. For more info go to allpar.com. This may be the answer you're looking for. Most mechanics don't even know this info. I know from experience.

Strength:

It's sexy, sleek body style Nice rims for stock Nice acceleration Turns heads Love the tail lights Love the Sportronic transmission (fun!)

Weakness:

A rattle! I cant figure out what it is! Engine isn't as loud as my 97 was (I liked the loud engine) Doesn't seem to get as good a gas mileage as my other

I actually got this car as a high school graduation present a few days ago. It has 11,000 miles on it because it was a leased car. I drove a 97 eclipse for 2 years before I got this one. The 03 drives and handles a LOT better than the 97 did. And w/ the 2.4 L engine, it takes off better than the 2.0 in the 97. The interior is definetly a lot nicer and it's a little more roomy. I love it!

This car's MSPR was $24842.00 for 03 GTS 5-speed manual. Bought it for $22500.00 (June 03) at Puente Hill, CA. Before I had a 97 GT-S 5-speed manual and this new car (also built in: Normal, IL) has improved ALOT, from ride, drivetrain, clutch, interior, Everything. Do not expect a soft smooth ride; tire profile is 50 series (215/50/17). Fit and finish is not too great. I have rattling sound coming from glove compartment latch locking unit. If I leave it, open there is NO sound. My gear trim molding (plastic) is tilted up on passenger side. There is a lot of road noise at freeway speeds (65-85 mph). Power and speed gets A++. DO not expect a 30k car like quality it is only worth $22500.00 NEW. Only reason I got the car was for the 0.0% interest rate with 7 year w/ 100k warranty and priced at mid 22k. Would I buy this car again (OoOh-OoOn). Only reason I got the car was for the 0.0% interest rate with 7 year w/ 100k warranty and priced at mid 22k. Over all score, it gets 78% a C+. If you have the $$$$ get Lexus IS300 or BMW 3 series or Acura CL/TL.

All-Wheel Drive Not a Honda or Acura Very fast Awesome grip Nice looking car

Weakness:

In-expensive materials and workmanship Expensive to maintain and modify Stock wheels are easy to bang up Stock sound system blows out after 3 yrs it seems. Lots of road noise, but nothing unbearable

Purchased the car used from an upscale Audi dealership in sept. 2002...previous owner was a lady engineer from Lockheed Martin who drove her husband's Toyota 4Runner to work, never drove her eclipse...car was 3 yrs old and had less than 23,000 mi on the odometer. Car runs perfect. After performance modifications the car is very fast and can keep up with most modified Civics, Integras, so on and so forth. Nicer car stock than a lot of other cars made around that time (1997-1999).

Strength:

quick and slick good sound system no problems as of yet

Weakness:

I believe the four cylinder turbo on the previous model had better fuel economy however with a great sacrifice in torque. I like the new v6.

with the v6 3Liter it is definatly a quick car and actually has some torque unlike alot of other sports cars from japan. It's torque band is excellent. The interior is much improved from the previous model. It is also union made which I personally like.

Strength:

Excellent fuel economy, comfortable front seats, decent stock sound system, quality looking interior, sporty looks, very solid car. Rock solid at high speeds, excellent cornering capablity, seats hug you nicely and keep you in place. Air conditioner is nice and cold. Mechanically very sound.

Weakness:

A little snug fit aroung leg area. Right knee rests against console constantly. Can get a little sore after a while. Fiber cover over rear hatch area rattles over bumps. Could be fixed by installing some rubber bumpers somewhere.

Excellent car!! It's not a turbo, but has decent acceleration. Great gas mileage, 28-30 combined city/highway. Very sporty looking, yet economical. Nice appointments, nicer than the Eagle Talon(U.S. equivalent). The sound system with AM/FM/cassette/CD and (4) 4-1/2" speakers are ok sounding. But, I replaced the two back speakers with 6x9's and the two front ones with 6". The back required some cutting. Not noticeable after replacing back panels. This helped the frequency range resonse, but the stock stereo doesn't drive the new speakers adequately, but still sounds fairly good. This is a 5 speed manual and shifing is very smooth. Front seats are very comfortable. I am able to get a child seat in the back but would not recommend an adult sit back there. Just enough room in the hatch area for the golf clubs. All in all a great car and I would recommend it to anybody. Real eye turner especially among the younger crowd. I'm 43 and get stares from lots of young folks. Great ego booster. Some say midlife crisis, but who cares. I'm having fun.

Cheap interier. Not very comfortable. Rough driving. Expensive to work on,WHEN you can find someone who knows HOW to work on them.

I have had nothing but trouble with this car since the day I recieved it.I have only got to drive a few weeks since I've had it.I'ts been in the shop. They now say to get rid of it because the computer in it is bad.It also leaks oil really bad.

Great turning, great gas mileage, great shifting ....... this car is a definate plus in my book.

Weakness:

I can't think of any weaknesses

Hey well I just got my 97 Eclipse GSX and must say this car will have you amazed. Mine is lime green and black and I just upgraded with a wing on the spoiler and green underbody lights so if you have just the basic eclipse believe me when I say that you should find a GSX, alot faster (actually Paul Walker on Fast and The Furious drove a GSX on the first one) so just think of with right specs and time it could run like that.

Strength:

-Great acceleration for a little 4-cylinder -Nice color (saronno red) sharp looks....smart design -standard is wonderful....screw sportronic! -comfortable like you wouldn't believe

Weakness:

-Cheap interior....a lot of vibrations in the dash and doors, its rather annoying on long trips -I put a spoiler on it, and upgraded to the larger lift pistons for the trunklid...but it still has a tough time opening, I noticed sometimes I need the key to open it.... -cupholders are in the worse possible spot with a standard...right in arms way...

Purchased car from a relative who's a car dealer, so it was a re-po...yet in perfect condition, it was obviously never driven much. Its pretty reliable, nothing wrong with it other than the normal wear and tear...have no complaints which are outrageous. I've never even owned a car before, so its better than a Jeep! Its like a poor mans sportscar, I guess
