Strength:

beautiful car, great pick up for a 4 cylinder, good handling

Weakness:

Poor brakes, rotors machined 5 times in 2 years! New brakes at 30,000. That annoying rubber around the headlight has been re-glued 3 times and still coming a loose, lots of little rattles that I don't want to know where they're coming from. Poor service departments!

I have had my Galant for 2 1/2 years now. I bought it for its sporty look and great price. If I knew I would be in the service department once a month for the past two years, I would never had bought it. Had a Toyota before and will have one when this clunker clunks out!

Strength:

Appearance Power for a 4-cylinder Gas mileage (over 300 miles per tank) Low maintenance Affordability with lots of features Nice Infinity stereo system Smooth and quiet ride Large trunk

Weakness:

None noted so far

I bought this Galant ES new and drove it off the showroom floor. I have not had any work done on it other than regular scheduled maintenance. The model I bought came with an upgrade of the Infinity stereo system with 7 speakers, which is great. I also have side air bags in addition to the driver and passenger airbags. The alloy wheels also look great, and the interior I chose is plush (not your standard interior). Also, the woodgrain interior looks nice, which is not found on 2002 and 2003 models to my knowledge. For a 4-cylinder, this car has great pick-up. I am the third member of my family to own a Mitsubishi Galant, and we have all been pleased. So far, I've driven this car 51,000 miles in two years, so I'm very impressed that so far I've not had to spend any extra money on this car other than regular maintenance. I definitely recommend this year model.

Looks, styling

Weakness:

Rusting welded seams all over the car in less that 2 months, brakes, interior padding and lining looses shape (wrinkels), for details visit "www.all-lemons.com"

To get a real feel for the quality of cars Mitsubishi is making you should visit "www.all-lemons.com" and "http://www.carsurvey.org/model_Mitsubishi_Galant.html". Our recently acquired used 1985 Dodge Lancer (made by Mitsubishi for Chrysler) with 71k miles has less rust that our 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. Our vehicle was taken to the factory to repair and after 42 days at the factory, they made a mess of it. We found that the problem is persistent across the 2000 to 2003 model years and including the Eclipse across the same years. I have received quite a few e-mails from the www.all-lemons.com web site with people complaining of problems with the brake system and the dealers and Mitsubishi not doing anything about it.

it was free ...and thats it

Weakness:

before i got the car, they supposedly fixed the transmission and the ac. the ac is cold, but is on the verge of death. it screws with the rpms or something, but oh, this is just the beginning. theres a new sound every month...it failed inspection...the guys at the shop actually laughed at me. it smells like a cheap go-cart after running it, and the window frame has faded completely. i had to get my cv joints replaced...the timing belt had it in for me also. got that fixed, but it was sooo difficult to get to. but, i guess it gets me around. psh...stupid car

i was lucky enough to get this car as a gift from a family member, but if id have known how crappy it was, i would have declined. ok, maybe not, but its been horrible. im seventeen, relatively penniless, and having to put every paycheck into the car really sucks. the only reason i still have it is because i cant sell it...no one would buy it

Strength:

on a dime handling, smooth look, faster than most 4doors of its class and some 2door models(stock). Roomy, nice sound system, nice chioce of colors, interior nice choices, classy yet sporty. More passengers than the regulations say it could, good gas consumption, a full tank can get you at least 200 miles, trust me i drove from san antonio TX, to Jacksonville Fl (1600/1006 miles) and only had to stop for gas five times NOTE: less gas is consumed when on cruise control. Lots of extra features at no extra cost like fog lights, power windows, cruise control.

Weakness:

brakes are expensive, parts hard to find and costly NOTE: if replacing parts donot purchase from dealer, buy it on your own somewhere else.

it is a good car, very fast for a four cylinder, have had it for 6 months. evn beat a mustang SVT in it. It was really purchased as a project car because my plan is to tun it into a very fast street racing machine. All the parts have already been ordered the kits, spoilers, hood from (Autobahnmotorsports.com) the turbos, intercoolers, universal exaust, spoon brakes, all shiped in from JAPAN we started with 140bhp by the time we are done maybe in a month or two we should be running at 450bhp without nos.

I love the quiet motor, the excellent stereo system, the passing power the large trunk space. I am impressed with the dealer, the salesmen and the service manager.

Weakness:

I realize its to soon to evaluate its durability, but so far it is perfect.

I am very satisfied with this new car. I had been driving a Tempo for 10 years which refused to self-destruct. The joys of having all the extras that came with my car, such as the power everything, the beautiful spotless paint and clean comfortable interior are great. I realize its to soon to evaluate its durability, but so far it is perfect.

Strength:

Price/Value Styling Quite - Solid Ride

Weakness:

Many Many Imperfections Low quality fit and finish

My brand new 03 black Mit Galant ES 2.4L came with many unexpected extras. Like the nice scratch down to the primer on the top of the trunk, or the crud under the paint on one of the doors, or the black spots on the drivers mirror, or the undercoating that is completely scraped off the car. As you can tell, I have a few complaints, I was surprised to see how poorly the interior plastic parts fit together. I don't think it's a good idea to have all that fuzzy material on the door panels, it can't be kept clean! Now for the good news, the car rides nice and quiet and I like the styling, I was a little blinded by the $3200.00 cash back, I missed some of the cars shortcomings I now have to live with. Bottom line, I would not buy this car if I had a second chance.
