Strength:

everything was great, but I was moving to the mid - west I thought I would wreck the front end, I loved my car and then I found out that it gave 33 miles to the gallon in the city and even more to the hwy. I'm crying even still, there was nothing wrong with the car. I just wanted to give it a new home.

Weakness:

the front end drug on the dips, this is why I gave it away!!! Now that I now know how expensive it is I would never have gave it away.!!!!!

Great gas saver, but the front end is to low for dips it drags and bumps.

Cute Exterior. decent interior. Good radio.Easy to drive and maintain. Affordable.

Weakness:

Small Trunk. Brakes squeak, even if newly replaced. Not for anyone who has a need for speed.

Love the hell out of this car.Got me from point a to b without any issues. Only repaired once. The distibutor went out but easily found an affordable replacement at a pull apart. worked great since then.

Slow from 0-30.. after that its quick until 85+

I've had this car since i was 15 I am 19 now. to begin with its an automatic and I have abused the mess out of it. I've cut doughnuts on dirt roads.. slid into curves on dirtroads going65 mph etc.. drove 105mph on many occasions for long periods of time. Even been mud bogging with it. This car has no passing power, but i've added some window tint and a system and I enjoy the mess out of this little car. It is an extremely cheap car, but so far I have not been able to break it I'VE TRIED! so I could get a new car.. the only thing i've ever spent on repairs is for new struts ! $250

Strength:

Its repair needs as an inexpensive, 10 year old car with unknown previous owners have been relatively modest. Great gas mileage. I am not driving my large GMC van very much in favor of the gas frugal Mirage. It could go much longer than I plan on driving it. The transmission is fun to shift with the eager 1.8 L. engine although my older son may have had too much fun driving it.

Weakness:

Before the radiator and water pump change out, it overheated occasionally. That is no longer an issue. The oil filter is hidden from easy access. In sum, no real weaknesses.

My son and I bought this car in Oct. 2003 when it had almost 67,000 miles. It has the 1.8 engine coupled to the five speed manual transmission. The A/C and cruise control continue to work. My son installed more capable speakers. In the 19,000 miles we have owned it, the Mirage has been a performer. It has some acceleration capabilities, is fun to drive, and obtains excellent gas mileage. We replaced the radiator, the thermo switch on the radiator, the radiator hoses, and the water pump. It is reasonably comfortable although I wish that it sat a little higher off the ground (13 inch tires). It performs well on the freeway up to about 75 mph which is as fast as I have gone in it. My son bought an instrument panel with a tachometer from someone on the Mirage forum. It was an easy switch. The tach is a nice addition. Since my son graduated from high school, found a real job, and purchased a 2003 Mazda Protege 5 with 12,600 miles, I have inherited the Mirage as a commuter vehicle. My other two kids are learning to drive it because it has a clutch. If the Mirage survives 3 teenage drivers, I must give the car a lot of credit. In sum, Mitsubishi makes fine cars such as the Mirage which usually fall just behind the Corolla and Civic in the car journal articles. It is much cheaper than those two which is appealing.

Strength:

Even with it's 1.5 liter engine, it manages to have decent acceleration with the manual transmission. Rarely ever overpowers the small tires. In snow it does quite well. Easy to drive, drives nicely. Reliable. Fun. Fun. Fun. Great gas mileage.

Weakness:

A lil cramped, but duh, it's a compact compact car. Rocks a lil in the wind due to it's light weight. Clutch throw could be shorter for a sportier feel. Maybe some more power for highway merging.

A compact car that is sporty, inexpensive, yet nicely finished inside. Mine was black with black leather inside and a manual transmission. Fun car. Too bad someone hit me and it's now totalled.

Model Reviewed: 1.5 L Mirage DE Coupe

Strength:

Quick (only with the 5 spd), Great Milage, Looks Saucy (that's a good thing), and it has been very reliable for me so far.

Weakness:

Poo Poo Sound System, and dog hair seems to cling to the interior.

Where do i begin. My Mirage was my very first car and i have to say i am very very happy with it. With the 1.5L, 92 hp, SOHC engine u really can't expect a whole lot, but with a manuel transmission you can always drop it into third and take off. This car also looks great! Just add rims and tint the window and you will be rollin' in style. The interior is quite comfortable in my opinion, and there is a surprising amount of space in the back seats of my coupe. The sound system is pretty weak sauce, I think I already blew one of my speakers so that is kinda lame, but it still works. But there is a massive amount of trunk space, which also a very surprising feature from such a small car. Overall, this car is a great car for those people that drive a lot (great milage, 38 mpg). And trust me, if u get this car in a 5 spd, it will be pretty quick (This car in automatic is painfully slow). GREAT BUY!

Model Reviewed: Mirage ES (the crushinator)

Strength:

I don't know why other post-ers complain, its handling is great, almost telepathic. The gas mileage is FANTASTIC. I never thought I could go so far with only 10 bucks. The heating works VERY well. I really enjoy it in the winter. The engine also warms up pretty quickly when you're sitting there in 10 degree temps freezing your butt off for the little dial to reach "C". The A/C is outstanding, better than I could've expected.

Weakness:

The engine is acceptable. But what more can you expect from a four-cylinder? It's actually pretty fiesty once you get it past 1st gear. The seats have no lumbar support, which means hell on long trips. The steering wheel doesn't tilt up as far as I would like, but I can manage. After all, it's not a school bus or anything.

I LOVE this car. I wouldn't trade it for anything, except for something with a little more horsepower. I got the car because of the price. It's SO AFFORDABLE. I didn't think I would be able to find a car this new and reliable with so few miles on it(around 35000) for only 5000 bucks.

i like the interior, good gas milage

Weakness:

the company it comes from

I really do not like my vehicle. I received a lemon. 1st. recall, had fix, then new bolt broke and I had to pay for that, 2nd. vehicle shakes once up to 75 mphs, 3rd the passenger door hinges have broken and now cannot use the door - 7 year warrenty was told that it was not covered under normal wear and tear/mfg defect. I have had 3 appraisals on my mirage - which has never been in an accident and I only use it to drive to and from work. Value is placed at $1400-1700. Mitsu says that when I turn it in at the end of my lease in 12/04 veh will be worth 5032.00. I think they will have to owe me by then. cannot get out of my lease. They are not standing by there product. I know they make good vehicles but I got stuck with a lemon.
