Strength:

Reliability, gas mileage, road handling

Weakness:

power, a little noisy

The car has performed well so far but I just wish it had more power. It has a little bit of umph for a 92hp engine but once you get going it doesnt accelerate as fast as it starts off. When your going 70, if you wanna accelerate faster, you have to put the pedal to the medal. The gas mileage is great and it handles turns and curves very well. Its a fun little car to drive but I just wish it was more powerful.

Strength:

Engine smootheness, ride, comfort, reliability

Weakness:

Lack of super decent Acceleration, but it gets the job done.

Okay, first off, when people ask what I drive, I say a Mitsubishi Mirage, and they chuckle lightly to themselves. Well, take me on and you''ll have nothing to laugh about. The model I currently own is the 1999 Mirage 1.8 liter. This isn''t the biggest engine in the world, and not many people would agree that the car is raceable. Well, it is. But, first let''s go over the stock vehicle. The engine in the 1.8 model is anything but weak. I did an oil change and put in a new Air filter and the Dyno read 125 horsepower. That can be a little more than any person would expect from this compact four-door. The 5 speed Manual Transmission isn''t too bad. It''ll get up and go if you know what you''re doing. Acceleration could use a little work, though. Mine clocked in at 0-60mph in less than 8 seconds, and that''s not too shabby compared to most Hondas which claim of their magnificent horsepower and 0-60 times of 7.2 seconds. I mean, come on!!! My Mirage can do that! ( Well, almost ) Anyway, I believe the interior to be suiting to my taste also. It''s comforting, but some things seem outta place. Anyway, for those who think you can''t race them, you''re wrong! I have a Mitsubishi Lancer Evoloution 5 Body Kit on there, along with a GReddy cutom made turbocharger, stainless steel headers, and an intercooler. It''ll now do 0-60 times in 4.9 seconds!!!! ( I know, it rocks ) But anyway it''s a good little car for the Japanese Import enthusiast.

Strength:

Cd Player (factory) was made very good. Never skips. The looks have somethin'' goin on for it. (only because mine has a spoiler)

Weakness:

The Cooling unit is the hardest thing to get out. The starter is basically hidden. Small Engine Compartment.. No Cruise Control. And the Trunk leaks.

This car has gone through a lot Since September of 2001 when I bought it, but it is a VERY dependable little car. The air conditioner didnt work until recently when i paid $1,000 to fix it. The Cup holders are in the worst place but I don''t use them much anyways. The gas mileage is outrageous. (about 38 MPG) I love this car. It is well worth your time. Just take caution in the Air Conditioner. The brakes are really good. In Fifth gear it will get up and GO.

PERFORMANCE, MILAGE

Weakness:

up hill driving with 3 plus people, racing wise, but what do u expect from 1.5L, need to give a lot more gas

I''m having trouble understanding one thing here, where ever I go to read reviews on this car, I see it bad mouthed for almost everything except milage. It seems to me like people are talking about some other car. Let''s lay it out 1.5L 92 horses. No performance parts what so ever STICK SHIFT 5-SPEED maybe most of the people drive automatics and thus such reviews. Top speed 120 mph, 1 gear 0-28 mph (45 km/h) 2.5 s !!!!!!!!! good enough to not fall behind a 911, 0-50 mph (80 km/h) 7 s, but bad acceleration from 50-60 (80-100), overall 0-60 (0-100) 9.2 s. Cars I have beat include a Focus ZX3, Accura Integra ''99, Honda Civic ''97. Mileage is great we all agree on that. Highway driving ok, it get''s a little shaky around 80 mph (130 km/h) not a problem at all. The acceleration however falls drastically at 120 + but consider 92 hp. Cornering incredible. Interior room satisfactory, however at the back sometimes it gets a bit tight. I''m glad i was able to educate many people in the PERFORMANCE of this vehicle. For the value it litteraly does not get any better.

Model Reviewed: Mitsubishi (Dodge) Colt

Strength:

Super reliable, great value, great mileage, very comfortable (I''''m 6''''5" tall and have plenty of leg and head room)

Weakness:

Colts are a bit underpowered (with two adults it doesn''''t exactly zoom up hills)(what do you want - it gets 32mpg!) and though it''''s more quiet than other small cars, it''''s still a bit noisy when on the freeway.

This is my second "Dodge"/Mitsubishi Colt. I drive them 100K miles and then sell them. Repairs? What''''s that? My folks have had two also with the same results. In my opinion you can''''t buy a more solid performer. Sure, they aren''''t sporty or fast and won''''t impress anyone but they always start even when nine years old, with 92,000 miles and it''''s ten below zero. None of the four cars have ever failed us, not once. The only repairs have been battery replacement every four years or so and one radiator hose blew after five years. That''''s it! Just washed it and it shines like new - great finish. If Detroit made cars like this - I''''d buy them. (but they don''''t)

Model Reviewed: Mitsubishi Mirage DE Coupe

Strength:

In over 2 years, I have never failed to get between 38 and 40 miles per gallon. It looks stylish and it is easy to work on. I change the oil myself and it takes about 15 minutes because everything is easily accessible.

Weakness:

The power, it has 90 horsepower and once you hit 4th gear (5-speed manual), you know it. However, I bought it because it was reported to get 40 mpg and IT DOES!!

I bought this DE Coupe new a little over 2 years ago. I have about 39,000 miles on it and I have had no problems. The tires still look like new. It is primarily driven back and forth to work, 38 miles one way, mostly highway driving. It has nice options, air conditioning, power -windows, steering, locks, CD player, center console with storage, remote trunk and gas tank release, etc....

Model Reviewed: Lancer OZ

Strength:

Great commuter. It''s not a Honda. Very sexy deep rich charcoal paint common in Europe but rare in USA. Sorta like the charcoal you see on Lexus sedans.

Weakness:

Uh, that''s about it..

Test drove the Lancer OZ. It was a joke, a faker. Sheep in wolf''s clothing. Overall, Lancer is better than Mirage, but the dealer kept telling me it''s ALL NEW and not a Mirage. Americans are stupid but not that stupid. I travel to Asia very year on business and the Lancer is an old school nameplate since the 1980''s. Our Mirage is a Lancer in Asia and usually a Taxi cab. Lancer is a very good car but way overpriced right now. It''s definitely a $14,900 car but don''t pay any more than that. Wait a while, ought to get cheaper when the LANCER PERFORMANCE hype is over.

Gas mileage, Roomy interior, Nice Body, and has a good price for what you get.

Weakness:

Had one problem the water tensioner and pump had to be replaced. Needs a little more pickup.

All in all I think it''s a very reliable car. Haven''t had any major problems yet (knock on wood). It has great gas mileage and is a smoothe ride.

Deanz Screen

Strength:

Not too many strengths! It always starts, though. It has decent heat, remote mirrors, The 5MPH bumpers work (I got rear-ended with no damage). The trunk is pretty big for a small car. Very little rust has inhibited this 13 year old car.

Weakness:

Where do I begin??? I firmly believe that this car was designed to break. Besides the 4 factory defects I''ve found, (I''ll explain later) I can truly say that the car is grossly under powered when accelerating and gives the driver absolutely no "feel" for what''s going on with the engine. It handles poorly in all types of weather, even with new General tires. There is no "road feel" with this car. The tires simply break loose in wet weather. The 4 major factory defects are; 1; The hose which allows excess vapor from the valve cover to go to the air cleaner was never drilled out, thus, causing pressure build up to blow the rear main seal ($600.00 to fix). 2; The cheaply spot-welded nuts that attach the rear doors to the pillars all broke by themselves, thus allowing the door to FALL off!, 3; Mitsubishi used inferior valve seals (instead of Viton), thus causing pre-mature failure which caused excessive oil burning ($300.00 to fix), 4; The rear seat belts do not function. Youch!!! How hard is it to make them right?

I have a 1988 Plymouth Colt DL 4 door sedan which is actually a Mitsubishi Mirage, just sold by Plymouth. It has a 1.5L engine and an automatic transmission.
