Strength:

Sporty look, fun to drive, handles well, comfortable seats.

Weakness:

No legroom in backseat, rough idle, cupholders block the ashtray(DUH!), not the best gas mileage.

Great little car altho i'm ready to move onward (after only having it for 8 months). the engine idles hard (and yes i do regular oils changes, etc.) and the gas mileage isn't all that great dispite what everyone else is saying. this was my 'first' car (meaning the first one that i've bought) and i don't regret buying it, i just wish it had a few more things in it but that's my fault for buying a basic 'base' model. :p i love my lucy :)

Strength:

Style. Mileage is unfriggingbelievable awesome. (Still unfailingly 38/mpg in town.)

Weakness:

No tach for the manual drive. Cup holder and ashtray compete for same space in front of shift. Duh? Heating system is archaic. It works, but it reminds me of an old VW.

Right price, right terms. (1.9% APR) I test drove the automatic and was not interested in something so sluggish, so I test drove the manual. Peppy for a 4 cylinder with A/C. Except for routine maintenance (filters and oil changes), I've had no problems in two years. Small front end collision a year ago resulted in only $600 for front end repair, but visually, it appeared undamaged. It took a pretty good smack and withstood it at a reasonable cost.

THE FUEL ECONOMY... it's through the roof... only hybrid cars can top the efficiency on this thing. Great ride, but a little mushy around corners. The light weight of the car (around 2100lbs) gives it decent pickup for the scrawny 1.5L engine. The interior is the best part of the car. The seats are super comfortable and supportive, and the all black theme is rockin. The styling of the body is real clean, I just put some aftermarket wheels on mine, and it improved the look even more. Its truly a nice looking car.

Weakness:

Little bitty engine... but unless you plan on racing it down a drag strip, it gets the job done. But once again, the fuel efficiency is top notch. It handles a little wobbly if you corner too hard. Other than that, I'm all smiles with this thing.

Great car for the price, I'd reccomend it to anyone looking for a first car. If your a modder, don't get this car though. It has little aftermarket support. Unless you like a challenge that is... :P Anyway, it's a great all around car for the money... very reliable so far, and a fun car to drive. I like it. Check out www.mirageforums.com to listen to what Mirage drivers are doing to their cars if you do plan on buying one though.

Strength:

good gas mileage nice interior - solid Driver and front passenger room is decent and comfy

Weakness:

engine troubles - oil leaks, runs rough terrible paint job driver's side window mechanism has broken twice. Back seat is really cramped - Not good for fitting more than 2 people.

I got my mirage when it only had 30,000 miles on it back in 1997. It now has like 120,000. I like the way the interior feels. It doesn't feel like a tin can. The engine runs hot though, and I have to add oil weekly. The engine also shakes badly and makes the car vibrate terribly. It is also leaking oil from somewhere near the oil pump. Another bad thing about this car is the paint job. It started peeling in places and now the whole car looks like crap. The peeling started when the car only had about 50,000 miles on it and was not the result of anything I'd done. The other thing that is bothersome is that it is difficult to roll up the driver's side window. I've even had to replace the window mechanism twice since getting the car--that's about $200 a pop. The mechanic told me that he'd seen more than one mirage come in with that problem. It's definitely time to get a new car. The engine is running so hot and so rough that I fear it's going to blow up on me. I'm embarrassed by the peeling paint, since it makes the car look dirty and older than what it is. I've been pretty good to the car, but I have not maintained it perfectly, I'll admit. The main things I've neglected have been cosmetic--for instance, the paint job. I've been in graduate school so $$ has been tight. This car should be in better shape than what it is, in my opinion. For the wear it has taken, it is looking and acting more beat up than it should. I will not buy another mirage.

Strength:

Fantastic handling, lots of room and trunk space. Can be made to run with the big dogs.

Weakness:

Factory CD player and I hate the headlights.

I love my car!! Mirages rock... Although my car doesn't look very sporty at the moment, in time I will change that. Most people wouldn't think this, but the engine is very powerful for a 4 cylinder. Most people don't believe me when I tell them it's not a 6. It's a five speed and can get up and go pretty quickly. I am more than satisfied with my decision to buy this car. Recently I replaced the factory tires and rims with custom racing rims. Hopefully, in a couple of months I'll have installed and intake and/or exhaust. Lots of changes in store for my mirage.

Strength:

Quiet engine, great milage, comfortable for the size of the car, dependable, good handling, looks

Weakness:

Not enough horse power, nearly impossible to go up hills with air conditioners on, noises from dashboard, too small tires, weak brakes

I bought this car last January and no major problems so far, automatic transmission works fine. I would not recommend this car to those who enjoy flying on roads. It's acceleration is horrobly slow. I personaly prefer cars with descent speed, but this one has nothing to do with speed. My fault......Should have chosen the 1.8 engine instead of 1.5 But it's easy to drive and fairly dependable. I drove it for 8 month now and no problems occured so far.

Strength:

-gas mileage... 38 on the highway, need I say more? -Good acceleration for the small engine size and hp (easily improved with a high flow air filter and muffler) -ride comfort... nice feel on corners, like a dream on the highway -manual tranny shifts smooth -comfortable interior, everything easy to access (except the cupholders) -stylish back end and roomy trunk -very high quality product for the price

Weakness:

-lousy positioning for the cupholders -small wheels make it lack some stability on corners, suspension makes up for it though -tiny back seat (what do you expect, its a coupe) -hard to find aftermarket parts, not many available yet for the '02

Nice ride for the cash... Have always been impressed with quality and feel of Mitsubishi cars and once again I'm not let down. The pros outweigh the cons by far on this one.

Strength:

Attractive. Good mileage. Pretty reliable so far (knock on wood).

Weakness:

AC saps all power from the engine. Brakes squeak. Seat belts don't retract right. The sealing strips on the passenger side door are warped and water leaks in sometimes. I pretty muched fixed it with a small strip of adhesive, though.

I bought the car from a guy who picked it up at an insurance auction and fixed it up. It had 62k on it, I've put on another 12k. Apparently he did a pretty good job because I have had practically no problems with it. Once it was having problems starting in the cold, but cleaning off the battery terminals was all it needed. Oh yeah, the molding strip along the passenger side whipped off once while on the highway. Had to pay 80 bucks for a new one. That sucked a little. It's my first car and I'm happy with the purchase. Not really my dream machine, but it moves me around and is fairly fun to drive. Looks nice.

Strength:

power all, good pick up, really quiet for a car in this class, handles quite good, looks good

Weakness:

the breaks, no ABS, had a few noise problems, steering was off balance, now is fixed, but is still needed every 6-9 months, the after market pads i put, warped my breaks, and when i machined them, makes a turbo noise, quite anoying. the original tires are awfull, i put new rims and 185/65/r14 tires, it handles and drive more like cadilac, but hte road noise is still there. another thing that i had, is the molding on the doors, seems to compress from heat, well i like in cali after all, so the dealer changed it

over all better then a civic in power, and corolla in room, handles better then other two, also, really feels stiff, and more expensive then it is, the price is 12999, when it was new, i got it in 2001 as a 2000, so the deal that i got , rather influenced me, i put new rims 14 inch, intake, tints, mp3 player, better sparkplugs, and another few small mods, but performance wise, with the intake and sparks, i get alot more torque, and aldought i am a heavy footer, i get around 250 miles with a full tank, the best car i owned, thus far

drives really well good handling good gas milege

My boyfriend successfully pursuaded me to get a Mirage. At first I didn't like it.. but now I love it. I got great milage, never had any problem. Great sound system. Also when I compared my car with my friend's Civic, the engine definetely quieter. I think Civic is over rated. I love my Mirage and it's a better value.
