Strength:

Reliability and very powerful on 195R15 tires.

Weakness:

None.

This car is quite reliable and powerful. I bought it used and at 100K, the only thing I had to replace was the starter. It also give good fuel economy on 195 tires. On 205 it eats much more fuel and less comforting.

There are some windnoise and a little vibration at idleing. I think it needs a tune up. Never had one before.

Strength:

Great car and very reliable. You have to go with foreign makes now a days. 2.4L 150hp engine is fairly responsive for a 4 cylinder. CD player for a 1993 car is pretty rare. Rims look sweet. Electronic climate controls are a nice neccesity. A V-6 would be nice.

Weakness:

Cup holders in bad location. Radio acts up occasionally (but it's almost 8 years old). Trunk release and cruise control doesn't work anymore. Back of car looks a bit wierd.

I most certainly recommend this car. It's a pretty affordable family car (I'm only 18 and I could afford one). Get the windows tinted, because it looks sweet. It looks not as old as it really is. Buy any Nissan, they make reliable cars.

Strength:

Standard equipments, interior materials, dashboard, air-conditioning setting, price, metallic paint is still good (as glossy as my neighbour's new Accord).

Weakness:

Minor problems especially electrical. The car is too heavy. Body roll, slow acceleration, weak air flow on face/legs setting, cup-holder (mispositioned and too small), resale value.

The engine never die ! It is a reliable car to take you from point A to point B but it has a number of minor problems. Most of them are electrical problems. It is good for city-driving, just ok for highway-driving. Good as a family sedan. I bought it because in 1995, it was the most powerful and has the most equippments import sedan in the class. It may be not worth to buy a new Nissan. A 1-2 years old Nissan may be better (you can sav a lot of money !).

Similar Products Used:

1994 Accord (I like it but a little bit expensive) and 1999 Corolla. Accord has better interior, Altima has more power and interior room than the other 2.

Strength:

Good Price, Looks and Features

Weakness:

Needs more power

Overall this car is good for the price. We have had it for almost a year and have not had one problem with it. I have not had to take it to the dealer for anything. In this price range you cannot beat Nissan reliability. We have an SE with the spoiler and white face guages that look fantastic. The only thing I would like to see is a little more horsepower in the engine but I guess that's why they have the Maxima. Great reliability with great looks to match.

Well I got it as a 2nd lease and the car already had 21,000 miles on it... 2years later it has about 70,000 (yeah i drive alot) and the only problem was the trans had to be replaced free under the warranty (i drove it like i stole it) other than that its been a great car and didn't give me any big mechanical problems.

Weakness:

BRAKES, BRAKES, BRAKES...... no matter what i do to stop that brake noise it just never goes away... i've changed brake pads like 3 times and cut the rotors but it still comes back and i hate it. CUP HOLDERS, OUTSIDE PAINT chips easily, trans needs to be smoother.

This is my first car, for the amount of money you're paying for it i would suggest going up a step and getting a maxima for just couple more thousand $$$, because after awhile that 4cyl really starts to get annoying and the interior is not that big, but i will say this about the altima...... IT CAN TAKE ABUSE AND 1/2

These are some of the coolest cars I have ever driven! I like them, that's why I just got another one 2 weeks ago. The 96 has around 172500 miles and its been PERFECT! We have only had one major problem and that was the alternator at about 125000 mi. And it's time for another tune up! My new car, white 99 used (20k for 15G) is ok so far other than the breaks squeal when I first move it in the morning. And I believe they need replacing already. Oh yeah, this baby will jump at a green light!

Weakness:

On '96
-them dad-blame cupholders (you have pull a muscle in your hands to change the station!)
-gas mileage
-squealing breaks (this has yet to be resolved with my 96, and NO the brake stuff doesn't work)
-weak stereo in 96 (replaced it) but stereo in 99 is cool.

On '99
-sun visors (they are too small to me)
-that a sun roof doesn't come standard (I wish!)

96 with 33k for 14G and 99 with 20k for 15G. I would definately recommend either model. The 96 is very reliable, I'll just have to wait and see if my 99 can out perform my 96!

96 camry, 98 4Runner, 99 Cavalier, 98 camry, 96 accord, 98 accord, 99 malibu, 2000 maxima, 2000 xterra--This was my next choice car in my "List". I REALLY wanted an Xterra, but ANY Nissan car would have did, since I simply ADORE Nissan cars. They are nice... It's not quite as good as it's big momma, the maxima, but it's still pretty powerful. (that's why my new car is labeled "Baby Maxima" on the windshield!) It's better than a Cav or Malibu (the only thing I like about the Malibu is the daytime lights and the driver cupholder!) The ride isn't really as smooth as it is in a camry or accord (it's still pretty easy though), but who needs that when you can pass one easily going 65...

Strength:

Strong engine, great torque, roomy, above average handling.

Weakness:

Build quality not as good as a Maxima, rear end looks a little "stumpy"

Highly recommended if you need a reliable 4 door with great handling and more than adequate power, with decent fuel consumption.

Strength:

It is a great looking car inside out. The price is very reasonable. 150hp~!!! More hp than Accord and Camry. It had CD player as a standard when others didn't have in the same class.

Weakness:

Several problems.
-Transmission broke down on the 7th day after I bought the car. They replaced with a new one, no more problem ever since.
-A small part of windshield molding came off.
-Weird noise from passenger side's power window, even though it still works.
-The dashboard light and clock sometimes don't light up when I turn on the headlight. Once, I turn on the headlight and the dashboard and clock lit up, but then they went dark after a minute. Went to the dealer and they said they don't know where the problem is unless they will not light up at all. Oh well, if I get pulled over by the police for speeding, then I am out of luck because I would not be able to read the speedometer~!!!

Altima is not a bad car at all. I am a student and I am able to afford this car. If it were an Accord or camry, I would not be able to afford it. Reliability of this car is okay, many things broke down but warranty covered them, so I guess if more problems come along after the warranty runs out, I would sell this car and get another car.

This car is all that, Power, Acceleration, Handles great, feels sporty with class. very reliable car. Super cold Super quick AC

Weakness:

Cup holder placement, noisy brakes, rear speakers could be better, paint has a tendency to chip

This car is a delight. 150hp 4 banger with power and torque all over the place. Super quiet operation, smooth ride, this car handles so well you'd swear it's able to think. I'd recommend this car to anyone.
