Strength:

handles great, rims make the car stand out, reliable, affordable, friends tell me car can last up to 175,000 miles

Weakness:

paint chips, trunk and cruise control dont work,(car only has 30,000 miles on it) not good driving in snow, brakes are noisy at times.

I reccomend this car for the small family. It's realiable, so-so on gas, great pick up for a four cylinder. A used one is a good buy at around 5 to 6 thousand, and a good car to add extras. More power than the Galant without the transmission problems, and a better value than the Grand Prix, also more reliable

This car is the car you can count on for 10 years. My uncle has a Nissan Stanza and it has lasted him 10 years and is still in fine shape. That is the good thing about a Nissan you can count on it. So buy an Altima and you will not only stand out of the crowd from the Hondas and Toyotas but will be driveing in a nice enjoyable car that everyone will like. Plus this car is for anyone looking for a good car that will last.

Strength:

The car has the most features of any used car I looked at. It has Leather interior sunroof and power everything except for seats.

Weakness:

This car mechanically is a total piece of crap. This is the most unreliable car I have ever owned. In a period of 1.5 years I have had to replace the air conditioner transmission and engine. I have dumped over $5,000.00 into this car for repairs. I am young and this car has sucked up my whole life savings and now has me in hawk up to my eyeballs.

If you value your money and you want a good product DO NOT BUY AN ALTIMA. They are total pieces of junk. Mine has steadiloy fallen apart. I do not exagerate when I say that I am in the shop with it at least once a week. Save yourself some trouble and buy something else. CAVEAT EMPTOR my friends.

Strength:

Surprising performance for a 4DR sedan. 155hp and better 5-speed gearing then previous Altima models. Plenty of room for the size of car...styling makes car appear to be more expensive then it really is.

Weakness:

Rear suspension too soft...sits low with heavy load. Handling a little scary if pushed hard.

Good car... This and the new Mitsubishi Galant offer a real alternative to those that don't feel like being the typical Accord & Camry owners.

Strength:

Spacious

Weakness:

1. Poor mileage. ~21m/g
2. The rear tires are wearing out faster than the front tires
3. The misaligned pulley is making some noise, which can be distinctly heard when the car is in "P" position
4. The car has begun to vibrate at his speed. It was OK till the first 50k.
5. The steering wheel is too tight

Will not recommend this car to any friend. The mileage is very poor. The tank capacity is also very less. Have to fill up the tank every 4 days.
The dealers are looking to squeeze money out of you. Everytime you go for regular maintenance, they'll ask for fuel injection service ($100) even if it's not required.

Strength:

It is a great car to drive. It is quite and handles perfects. Great intown and on the highway. Easy to modify and accesorize.

Weakness:

The gas mileage did not turn out to what I was expecting. But other than that a great value.

It is easy to find parts and will run forever. A car that does not require very many tune-ups. I have killer sound system in the trunck that was very easy to put in thanks to Nissan. The dash looks great with the wood panels. Cruise control works good and the top speed in very impressive for this car. The only thing I have replace is the oxygen sensor that costs $20. I bought this car with 19,990 and it know has 24,000 and still looks brand new. A great 1st car that will last forever with no problems.

Strength:

reliable--i don't know anything about cars and i didn't have to in order to maintain it. i like the looks, engine, pretty roomy for my 6'2" boyfriend, great on road trips, seats and dash nice. great brakes. I LOVED THIS CAR!!

Weakness:

ok, cup holder a joke, perpetually squeaky but well-performing brakes, upholstery not good, paint did chip a bit.

i would recommend this car b/c it is a great value compared to toyota and honda and it's fun to drive. i loved my 95--bought it in 98 for $7500 and never had any major problems. i'm looking for another car b/c i got rear-ended and the airbags will be too expensive to replace. i'm really sad, but hopefully i'll be able to find another altima. not experienced with lots of cars, but the engine was powerful and the ride was smooth. brakes were great, and extras like AC and speakers worked great (heater felt like i had a direct line to hell). i replaced the factory stereo but i'm picky. i was counting on this car carrying me for many more years but fate did not allow it. bought it in 98 with 40K and put 50K on it in under two years and great performance throughout. haven't had much luck finding used ones...people want to keep them perhaps? i'm a college student and it was great for me...maybe not for families but definitely for people who want a fun reliable car for their money.

Strength:

Excellent Fit and Finish. Excellent interior room for this size of car. Reliability consistently good w/Nissan

Weakness:

One minor window complaint that I will explain below.

Let me start off by saying that if you want an excellent mid-size car with a great price, look no further. The reliability of this car continues to be way above average. No annoying rattles and squeaks that American Cars made famous. The only problem is with the windows. There seems to be some excessive wind noise when travelling on the highway however, I have learned that there is a Technical Service Bulletin that addresses this issue which I will have fixed under warranty. Other than that, I have put 34K miles on it so far without any problems. The only thing I wish Nissan would have addressed is better tires. The stock ones had to be replaced at 25K. Other than the tires and window (which is under warranty), no other problems. All in all, a lot more car for the money than Camry or Accord.

Interior is nice, Premium sound system is very nice, LOVE the 15" 6-spoke wheels, whiteface gauges, foglights, non-obtrusive spoiler (SE package)

Weakness:

Pickup speed could be better. Somewhat noisy on freeways

Our 98 Altima is owned by my dad who got a really good deal on it. He bought the 98 model, in 1999, but got the SE package with it for free. The SE package really makes the car that much better. I personaly LOVE the wheels that it comes with. (Ive been trying to convince him to switch my wheels for his!)

For the price, its a pretty damn good deal. =)

I own a 1990 Nissan 240sx and have owned a 91 Nissan Sentra. The 240sx, with a similar 4cyl motor, blows the Altima away in speed and handeling. I know the Altima is no sports car, but it could be a tuned little bit sportier.
