I bought this car since it came out. I had no problem at all, besides when it turned 4-year-old, the starter broke down. I had the starter changed, and everything else runs great. Be honest, you don't even need the factory warranty for NISSAN cars. |

Strength:
Lots of standard equipment, great lease prices!
Weakness:
There's not much I don't like, except the windows. Over the last three years I have enjoyed driving this car. I would certainly recommend this car to someone just starting out from college that needs an inexpensive set of wheels without sacrificing their image! The only point that I have complained about on this vehicle, and will complain about on the 2001 Altima I am getting is that the side windows are VERY loose. If the window is down halfway, it vibrates, and if you grab the window with your hands you can rock it back and forth in the door! Nissan service assured me that they were all like this! Lo and behold, when I checked the other new Altimas on their lot, they were right. I thought three years would be long enough to fix this little annoyance, but I guess I was wrong! But this car will still recieve the highest accolades I can give because in the last three years I've done nothing but scheduled maintainance. One thing I don't seem to have had a problem with, as some of the people here, is that I achieve regularly an average of 28-30 miles per gallon combined! Similar Products Used: I sell Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Nissan. The company I work for has over 20 brands of vehicles, and yet when it comes to my daily runner car, the ALtima always seems to be the most sensible choice. |

Strength:
Great looks, chock full of features, priced to sell.
Weakness:
The power window lock-out also locks out the master controls. This causes you to have to unlock the windows to open and close them from the drivers seat. Also, in order to get the ABS option on the SE you must also buy side airbags (which at least makes SOME sense) AND the power sunroof. This car is tremendously fun to drive! Among other things, the SE package gives you a sport tuned suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, 16" alloy rims, and a 6 disc in-dash CD player. I chose the 5-speed because it seemed almost criminal to put a cushy, old geezer automatic in this sporty, curve hugging beauty. In addition, with the current 1400 dollar rebate, the Altima SE is only a few hundred dollars more than the Sentra SE. Similar Products Used: In test driving and pricing the Camry and the Accord I found both to be more expensive and less fun to drive. |

loved the handeling and the color really (black & silver pin stripe)and styling
Weakness:
more power would have been good Over all I really love my alt I put over 50,000 miles on the car after buying it used with 80,000 already on it. It even look shap when I added 17" rims, 35% tint, Hyper White, and I spent a little on a stero. And a little more stuff. The best part I used to love was to pass people in stupid civics who thought they had a race car with decals and stuff. Not saying the altima is a race car put faster than some. But my days are over in the altima. I now have cracked the engine and the dealership wants 4500 to fix it nope I will not put any more money into that car. I want the 2002 due to come out in September but I'll never know. Similar Products Used: it is faster than a civic, I've raced and beat plenty of them |

Strength:
Interior Design, Comfort, Good power for a 4 cyl. Low Noise. Quick when needs be.
Weakness:
MPG could be better. For a 2.4 engine they could have squized more HP out of it and torgue. GLE model should have came with a choice of bigger engine and also HID headlights would have been nice. Love the handling. 0 - 60 is not bad but does have a lag. Nice soft handling. Similar Products Used: Toyota Camry 4cyl, Honda Accord 4 cyl, Mitsubishi Galant 6 cyl, |

Roomy,Reliability,Engine has some good pick up and go,And just about everything else!
Weakness:
Dash has some noises, road noise, I know I haven't had it very long but it seems to be the best car I ever had. The car has 50,096 miles on it and still seems extremly reliable unlike my 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse that fell apart at 40,000 miles. If you ask me this is a great car, for a great price, so go out and buy one! Altima GXE LTD
Strength:
Bang for the Buck!! At $13694 for 5-spd/Limited it blows away a stripped civic/corolla/protege. It's loaded w/features in the Limited pkg. The $2000 rebate made the difference for me. Great space, ride, comfort.
Weakness:
Limited pkg should come with alloys. Overall excellent so far. No complaints. Dealer even doing first service for free. Similar Products Used: Had 1992 Protege LX with 125hp engine & 5-spd. I thought the car was great until I got this Altima in 2001 FOR $200 LESS!! The Altima is bigger & heavier, but with more power, so slightly better acceleration. Much more roomy & comfortable, so we don't need to take the wife's minivan for family trips. The Protege got @2 MPG more than the Altima, but it's still too new to judge. |

GXE Altima
Strength:
Elequent looking, easy stick shift, speedy, sporty for an "adult" car, classy for so cheap,
Weakness:
seats are too low to floor, seat flip down for trunk access is too small, cup holder in bad place. I dig the car so far. Its got good power. All accessories without the extra cost. Good price for such nice car. You would pay at least 3-4 thousand more bucks for a honda or toyota with power everything and cd and ac. Similar Products Used: honda and toyota |
