Strength:

Strong reliability record, comfy yet sporty ride, good rebates from dealers...It's a Nissan.

Weakness:

Paint kinda sucks, but forgivable. Too easy to see where corners where cut during Nissan's "budget years". Thank goodness that all over.

I purchased my Altima SE fully loaded with 6 disk changer, leather interior, sunroof side airbags and a bunch of other goodies. I'm very pleased with the handling of this car, not too bad. I like the torquey (spelling?) engine and it gets off to a good start. My only problem with the car was the sway bar for the rear wheels came loose and was making a loud clunking noise. Fixed withing a couple hours by my friendly dealer. All in all, its a great car. I just wish that I had waited another year for the 2002 Altima.

Strength:

-Spacious trunk
-Good gas mileage
-Roomy
-Not square

Weakness:

-Horrible place for cup holders (I would like to listen to the radio, please.....)
-I got the brakes replaced, and they STILL squeal to a stop

It's my first car, and I really like it. I love the room in the trunk. It hasn't really given me any trouble, and I would recommend this car to almost anyone. It looks sporty enough (I don't like square cars), and it runs well. I love the feel of the power under the hood.

Strength:

- sharp acceleration, nifty controls, a power car
- AC is very good and good sound controls
- loved the 8 way power seat
- large seats and very comfortable
- easy to read controls

Weakness:

- getting about 24 mpg, expected more from the automatic
- central console containing the heating /AC controls looks outdated, the '94 Altima and the '01 have the same switches -- no changes

Excellent value for money car. Very comfortable and feels secure, loved the Limited Edition features with the car. Nissan seems to offer a lot of value for the price you pay, esp with the $2000 off that I got.

Accord -- name brand, but you pay for everything that you need, arrogant staff who think nothing of a Nissan,
Civic- Noisier as compared to the Altima & smaller

Strength:

Decent engine (150 h.p.), perfect size, huge trunk, quick power windows, decent ride, cool sunroof, great ergonomics, good handling, good a/c, nice interior coloration,

Weakness:

interior trim pieces come loose, excessive road noise, trunk release quit working, hard to judge distances backing up because of high trunk, crappy sound system, long-throw shifter not great

Nissan has rivaled Toyota and Honda as far as reliability in recent years. I was looking for a mid-size car, and there is really not too many out there. The Ford Contour, Pontiac Grand-Am, what else? Everyone has either a compact (Civic, Corolla) or a full size offering. Anyway, the car is the perfect size. It is positioned price-wise between a stripper Camry or Accord, and their loaded compacts. The car is strictly average in terms of performance and ride comfort, but its best trait is reliability. I have put 70,000 miles on it delivering pizzas, which is brutal on a car, and absolutely not a problem-the car is bulletproof. Also I like the styling, better than the Maxima.

Strength:

nice color

Weakness:

First, the power antenna broke in summer 1997, rack-and-pinion replaced in 2000, check engine light always on , engine knok in cold weather, change the brakes abouth 5 time, 2 weeks ago, the power door lock motor as been replaced, and now the headgasket is leaking. The sound system is poor compare to Dodge, I would pay someone to crash it somewere, for you own good dont buy a Nissan. Transmission problem and hard on GAS. Shy to use it to go shopping at the mall.

Nothing to say good about it
complete waste of my $$$

Strength:

Comfort, reliability, safety, strong air conditioner, good CD player.

Weakness:

Cheap wheel covers with a tendency to rattle; front brakes seem to wear quickly.

Very comfortable car. Some of the company's literature at the time I bought the car described the Altima as "affordable luxury," and I think that's a perfect description. Handles well, and has a distinctive style, doesn't look cookie-cutter.

Way better than the piece-of-junk Grand Prix I used to own. (Yes, I'm still bitter.)
