Beautiful, cheap to fix, fun

Weakness:

nothing

I LOVE my car! Every day I see hondas with mods to the look and the performance and they do not compare to my nissan. I have put a minimum amount of work into my car and it is still flashier and often faster then many of the other cars out there. This is my second Nissan and I will never buy any other brand of import.

This is hands down the most exciting car I have ever owned. I am thoughorly impressed with the style, performance, quality, and attnetion to detail that the engineers at Nissan put into this vehicle. Some of the small things like the sunglasses case, the many storage compartments and the telescopic steering wheel are very impressive. This is my first Nissan and my first import vehicle. And I must say I will never go back. GO NISSAN!!!

Power, handling, braking, Bose Radio. It has so much power yet it is so smooth, add the Bose & you have a perfomer. It turns heads every where i go.

Weakness:

Too much plastic but you get that now days.

After driving Honda's for 20 years i decided to try Nissan. I was shocked, quality, stying performance, space. What more could i ask for. It was far superior to any Honda that i had owned exceptfor an 86 Prelude. It far out performs & out styles Honda, hands down. I think my next car with be the new Maxima. I got the Bose Radio, side air bags, traction control & upgraded brakes. I have not been disspointed.

Strength:

Head-turning exterior design and lots of interior space front and back. Amazing power for a 4 cylinder.

Weakness:

Clunky rear suspension. Ride is a bit stiff for a family sedan. Buzzing headliner. Dumb hole in gas filler cap area (what were they thinking?). Cheap looking interior (particularly the doors)

This car is nice to drive with lots of space, engine power and a smooth transmission. Road noise from the rear suspension (clunking on bumps)is annoying, as is a persistent headliner buzz. Audio system is mediocre. Interior has too much cheap plastic. One really dumb design aspect: a hole behind the gas cap cover door lets road grime shoot up from the tire and surround the filler neck and cap threads. My gas cover door hinge actually seized because of road salt, and I had to bend it to get it open. Duh! Found out the hard way that you can lock yourself out with the engine running (with the remote on the ignition key ring). You couldn't do that on the VW Jetta. (Remote and key are now separated!)

Great body, drives well, overall a great car. SL model

Weakness:

BRAKES!

I absolutely love the car. Love the drive, love my leather interior and love my bose system. Only one problem. We wrecked it after three weeks. Rear end collision going twenty miles an hour and ended up skidding about 30 feet. We had thirty feet of marks going twenty miles an hour. No ABS was a great surprise! Two weeks later and it's still not repaired. Be careful with those brakes.

Strength:

Design of the bodies of new Nissans are extraordinary. From the Altima to the new Z (even the Infinity's).

Weakness:

The build quality of Nissans are absolutely horrible. Since Renault took over Nissan, the build quality resembles the crappy french cars that had so many problems when they were sold in the U.S. back in the day. The 4 cylinder engines are horrible. They have horrible gas mileage & do not have a lot of pick up. The 2002 2.5S is rated at 175 HP, but it felt more like 120 HP. Please do yourself a favor, don't ever buy a Nissan. Take from a person that's had two Nissan cars. They suck

My first new car ever was a 2000 Altima. After a year & a half of problems ranging from the car not starting to the front windows being loose, the dealership but back my car (under the lemon laws of Maryland). They placed me in a favorable deal in a 2002 Altima 2.5S. Although my problems were not severe, I still had problems with rattling in the headliner, heat & air conditioning not being strong, & an engine that sounded like a diesel engine. Although these problems were not severe, I really thought this car would nickel & dime me as it got older. I sold the car to Carmax, which I came out slightly ahead & bought a new 2003 Honda Accord EX. I am so glad I did it. I will never, ever buy another Nissan again.

Model Reviewed: Altima 3.5 SE

Strength:

Great acceleration for a "family" car. Attractive looks, especially in black. Very good handling for this class of car. Very good anti-lock brakes and smooth automatic transmission. Good stock stereo. Quiet and good gas milage if you are light on the gas pedal (33 - 34 mpg sometimes, low 20's usually though). Roomy and comfortable seats.

Weakness:

The car does not want to start in park sometimes. This has happened often enough I have become pretty good at solving the problem when it happens. This seems to be a somewhat common problem. The interior is average, at best. Too much cheap plastic and some flimsy items, like the armrest. The interior of the trunk is very cheaply constructed. Luckily, it's the trunk, so it does not really matter. Black paint scratches easily. Nissan should probably market the 3.5 SE more as a sports sedan than a family car than they do due to sporty, but somewhat harsh ride. They should have a softer riding car for those not wanting the sportier nature of the V6 powered sedan.

Overall, a good car. Despite some flaws with the car, I would overall still recommend test driving this car if in the market for a midsize sedan.

Strength:

VERY reliable, very comfortable. I drive it on many long-distance road trips (500 miles each way) without a second thought about being stranded. I was T-boned by a land yacht, but the car's side impact beams prevented it from being totaled. The stock speakers are Clarion which sound incredible if you push them with a higher-watt deck. When people ask what I "have in my car" and I tell them it's just the factory speakers, they are always impressed.

Weakness:

I only get about 240 miles to a tank, but that is because of gunning it off the line, not any flaw in the car.

I LOVE this car! I bought it a year old with 16K miles on the odometer and 2 years left on the warranty. I have driven it for 6 years, it has over 95K miles, and all I have had to do is maintenance work. It has been just as reliable as I expected it to be, and then some. The interior is very comfortable- even the backseat. I plan to keep it for another 3 years .

None, my previous car was a Toyota Corolla. The transmission on that went at only 5 years old. I will NEVER buy another Toyota, or Lexus for that matter!!
