VITUALLY SOUNDLESS ENGINE, SMOOTH RIDE, FAST FAST FAST! ELEGANT INSTRUMENT GAUGES, NICE LEATHER, BIG TRUNK, GOOD HEADROOM, BOSE SOUND SYSTEM ROCKS!!

Weakness:

TIRES SUCK, SQUEAKY PLASTIC

I GOT OVER 100,000 MILES AND THAT ENGINE IS AWESOME IT STILL SOUNDS QUIET AS A CHURCH MOUSE. SHOW ME A CAR THIS SIDE OF $50,000 THAT PERFORMS TO THIS CALIBER I WOULD BE INTERESTED TO KNOW. FROM A MECHANICAL STAND POINT I LOVE IT I HAD CHEVYS FORDS AND CHRYSLER'S BUT NOTHING BEATS A FOREIGN CAR. AND NISSAN HAS A REAL KICK ASS RIDE ON THE MARKET. ITS FAST, RELIABLE, FUEL EFFICENT, GOOD HANDLING, COMFORTABLE, SHARP LOOKING, AND MOST OF ALL ITS CHEAP. WHAT MORE CAN A CONSUMER WANT. IF ALL THIS DESCRIPTIONS INTEREST YOU WHEN BUYING A CAR THE MAXIMA SHOULD BE FIRST AND FORMOST IN YOUR MIND.

Strength:

everything about this car is perfect, everything!
nothing within the price range even comes close to the performance, luxury and quality.

Weakness:

none

I would recommend the 2000 Maxima SE auto or manual to everyone, unless you can afford a Mercedes S-Class, or BMW 5 series, then get a maxima.

Similar Products Used:

every american car in the same class, and they aren't even worth being built in my opinion, don't even touch a malibu or taurus, 3.2tl and Camry are alright, but maxima beats them by far.
honda's auto transmissions are terrible.

Strength:

I have never driven a better engine. It pulls well throughout the rev range, gets decent fuel economy, and sounds great no matter how hard it's pushed. The Maxima handles like a smaller car. Build quality is excellent.

Weakness:

In hot weather with a warmed-up clutch it is sometimes difficult to achieve a smooth launch in first gear. The fourth generation Maxima doesn't come with fold-down rear seats, only a pass-through. I wish the air conditioner were a little "frostier."

I bought this car recently with 88,000 miles on it. One might normally be nervous about buying a three-year-old car with so many miles. There were three reasons I was not apprehensive about the Maxima.

All the consumer magazines rate the Maxima very highly for its dependability.

I drove maybe ten or eleven Maximas before deciding on this one. Some were low-mileage while others had as many as 91,000 miles. What was remarkable to me is that they all drove the same. The high-mileage cars felt as eager to run as the younger vehicles. None of them felt tired and worn-out. The interiors were all in excellent condition, and all the electrical and mechanical features worked properly.

My previous car was a '93 Nissan Altima which I bought used with 89,000 miles. During the four years I owned it I replaced an idler pulley, and a starter. I sold it to a friend with 168,000 miles. The engine still runs like new.

Because of these experiences I've developed a lot of confidence in Nissan's cars. So far I've been very pleased with my gold 5-speed Maxima SE. The firm seats are very comfortable. The 6-speaker CD cassette stereo sounds good. I look for excuses to jump in and go somewhere, ANYWHERE.

Can there be any higher praise for a car than that it makes you WANT to drive at every opportunity?

I liked some things about all of these cars, but none of them combined so many desireable features like the Maxima.

Strength:

Engine, handling, interior, exterior. Plenety of room for the family and it handles like a sports car.

Weakness:

Steering wheel is a bit cramped for tall drivers, like myself (6' 4'').

Looked at all the worthy competitors for a family sedan. After driving them all the MAX was the best value and most fun to drive by far. The Accord and Camry and Millenia all felt the same and looked the same. The Passat was tighter and stiffer but not as comfortable as the MAX. The Tausrus just wasn't in the same league as the others. The Avalon felt like an "Grandparents" car. AND it cost $4K more for the low-end XL (plus the dealer was a real jerk).

We got the GLE with everything on it except for the Sunroof deflector for $25,800.

Anyone looking for a zippy, tight, fun-to-drive car should test drive a MAX. My wife now wishes we got the 5-speed manual transmission because it would be even more fun to drive. And she doesn't know how to drive a manual!

Strength:

Acceleration, shifter, suspension, spaciouness, looks (front), fuel efficiency, quietness and the list continues.....

Weakness:

The OEM Goodyear RSA tires are the worst tires I have ever used. Wore out unevenly in 17K miles and made the car very noisy.

Excellent value for the money. A$$ kicking performance, betters cars 2-3 times more in price. Replaced OEM tires with Dunlop SP 5000 225-50-16s and it handles much better and is quiter. I recommend this upgrade. Also, this car has a lot of after-market performance accessories available. Put in a front strut tower brace, has improved the ride and handling a lot by making the front a little more stiffer. Also recommend this! I think of it as a Z with 4 doors, they share the same engine. This is definitely not your family sedan like accord and camry, does have a unique character to it.

Strength:

Engine, Solid feel, Lots of Interior Room, Extremely comfortable, Looks Great, Not your average sport sedan.

Weakness:

Some think the styling is wierd. I think it is unique. Put it next to any Mazda, Taurus, Camary, GM product and it will stand out. The Dodge Intrepid is the only styling that is close.

Considering the price verses the performance, it is a real bargain. I got my SE with the Convienence and Leather Packages, BOSE upgrade, mats and splash guards for $28K out the door.

Fabulous engine. Almost ferrari like. Loves to rev and pullll. Good handling and very fun to drive.

Weakness:

It spoils you. The next time you have to drive something else you'll realize how good the Maxima is.

A steal - 17,000. Wonderful engine. Great power and fabulous exhaust note. This car inspires driver confidence and makes you realize why people love cars. Accord and Camry are complacent, doldrum, and mind draining in comparison to this car.
I work in Rental sales and drives all of these everyday and without a doubt the top of the class is of course the Maxima. Customers dog cuss me when they have to take a Camry or Accord when they have "reserved" a Maxima. It never fails.
This is a luxury car for thousands less than anything else on the road.
Passing one up is a big mistake.

Strength:

I love everything about it. I haven't gotten any problem with it.

Weakness:

The suspension on the SE model is really not smooth or quiet. I guess you are giving this up when you choose performance and road handling over it.

Also, I tried to put after market starter remote, but the key has the electronic chip in it so it is not possible.

I paid 20,000 for SE limited automatic with CD player. I did NOT get the moonroof, keyless entry, power seat, or Bose system. But all other options I have.

For its price, the value are great.

No cup holders, Brakes are squeky, Speedometer doesn't always work, Factory Stereo System, Trunk release in the inside of car doesn't work

This car is all I could ask for. Great acceleration of the line, One time on a short road brakes didn't slow me down and i fishtailed but the tires held the pavement and did not flip.

1990, very stong and fun for drivers.
the car is pretty strong and fast.
i love the acceleration.
on acceleration to 120km/h.. i beated 3.2 Acura CL (2000), Honda Accord (2000), GMC Jimmy.
the engine works great.
I have a custom ex. system, the car was lowered.
I have Brougham version (leather seats, sun roof, everything is digital, power seats..etc..).

Weakness:

something happend to the sunroof.. i have to fix it.. it doesnt open till the end. (like it used to be.. oh well..11 years old car).
i dont like the standard stereo system .. (Bose).

$4000 is nothing for a full loaded car.. with leather seats, sun roof, 6 speakers audio system, 3.0L , about 160-180HP, power seats, everything is digital, i have 0 analog things in this car.. even the speed and the RPM meters, and the air conditioner ... are digital.
I drive it everyday... and everything works cool!
its amazing..
i would never think that 1990 car could give something like that to me before i got it.
