Strength:
High level of refinement, solid feel, very quiet and comfortable, excellent ergonomics and elegant looking leather interior, reasonable gas mileage. Excellent Bose system.
Weakness:
Nothing to complain about This 2000 SE is my second Maxima – the first one(1991 GXE) was extremely reliable. |

Oh what a beautiful engine
Weakness:
Only one gripe, - the height adjustable steering wheel doesnt move high enough, - theres vey little travel. This is a very sporty car in any format. Its silky smooth, powerful, handles great, and hols it value well. Similar Products Used: VW Golf, Altima, Taurus, - its in a different class |

SE 5-speed
Strength:
I LOVE its get up and GO!!! My 5-speed is SO MUCH FUN!!! I have a black/black and there are 5 other people in my town w/the same car. It's got tinted windows, sunroof, spoiler, BOSE system (LOVE IT) All my friends love it, and want to drive it. My cousin had a white 92 GXE, traded it for a 99 Honda Accord LX loaded, and wants her Maxima back. She hasn't even had her Honda 6 months. She's looking to get another Maxima...Can you blame her?
Weakness:
My clutch seems like it's slipping, my sunroof has come off track, back passenger window won't go down, factory stereo just went out! The car is 8 years old and I just had the fuel pump and spark plugs changed. I only paid 4500 for my car in Jan.-00 Right now it has 133,000 mls, and STILL going strong. I'm going to keep this car for another 2 years, and trade it in on a 2001 SE Limited Edition 5-speed of course!!! That's all I want to drive Similar Products Used: I've driven a Mustang GT, Buick Century, Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Chevy Lumina,Caviler,Corsica, and Dodge Neon. I wouldn't trade my Maxima for ANY of them!!! |

Strength:
Very fast. Looks great. Love the pearl white. Bose stereo is nice when it's working correctly. Very roomy. Good gas mileage. Nicest car I've owned.
Weakness:
I need a new clutch. Shocks are making a funny clunk noise. I've only had this car for 3 months. I bought it for 2600 with 165,000 highway miles on it. So far I love it. I have to replace the clutch. Other than that it's been great. I've already put on 30,000 miles w/o any problems. This is by far the nicest car I've owned. We'll just see on reliability. I'll cross my fingers. Highly recomended. Similar Products Used: I've driven just about every car out there, aside from high-end luxury cars like mercedes, etc... |

Nissan Maxima
Strength:
The feeling of being inside the Maxima is unbelievable. You'd be thinking to yourself that you're in one of the highest classed, sports cars you've ever seen. And it's true. Besides the luxurious interior and legroom, it practically feels like a sports car. I have a black interior and it looks awesome, both day and night. The acceleration is one of the best features of this car. It is a joy knowing that you can beat any average car or sedan. I've compared this with a Toyota Camry and a Honda Accord (models 98-00) and it surely matches (and most likely surpasses) their quality and performance. BUY it if you see one! Over here they're still selling like hotcakes!
Weakness:
I'm annoyed with the thin clear coat that was put on the finish of this car. It ruins its luxurious look and feel. And true, there is an excess amount of body roll. But after a few modifications costing a few hundred dollars (H&R shocks/FTSB), it'll run perfectly! Another problem is...my model was a GXE and i didn't get the SUNROOF! nooOOoO! I would definately recommend this car to anyone looking for a modest looking car that has characteristics of a "sleeper". If you find this car, year models from 95-99, at under 14K, it is a steal and there should be no hesitation to buy it! Just check if the engine is in good working order, and look for any cosmetic damages...otherwise, buy it! Have fun hunting for a used Maxima, there are a lot of owners like me who won't give it up! Similar Products Used: It is a contender in every class except the high-luxury ones: Lexus, Porshe, Honda S2000. Overall it pretty much outclasses anything else, with performance and/or value! |

Strength:
Smooth standard V6; excellent fit and finish; standard fog lights, spoiler; good traction in snow; good CD/Cassette/Radio sound system; sport-tuned suspension; plenty of front leg/shoulder/head room; smooth shifting automatic transmission; excellent fuel mileage (22 City/29 Hwy) for a car of this caliber; fantastic pick-up even with automatic transmission; road & wind noise is minimal; passenger & rear seats are very comfortable; rear doors have child-safety locks; trunk space is good enough; head-lights when used with the fog lights provide a good view of the road at night; the turning radius is really small for a car this size enabling you to maneuver into tight parking spots; the original Toyo tires are quite good, I'm currently doing about 62500 miles and they're still in decent shape, however, I plan to replace them soon to avoid any problems this winter; steering and road-handling is quite precise and stable;
Weakness:
lousy defroster; driver seat could have been more cozy, the seat being quite wide a slim driver could slide sideways on turns; requires premium fuel which could work out expensive especially in wake of the recent price hikes; just has a trunk pass-through for skis instead of the standard 60/40 fold-down standard on most cars these days; I had some problems with the 'Check Engine' light coming on about 7 times, finally the dealer replaced the on-board computer and Nissan gave me a free extended 100K Mile warranty; braking isn't all that great; I paid quite a price ($25,500), but later I realized that I had paid the invoice price which is not bad considering I was fresh out of grad school and had no prior experience dealing with suave car salesmen. I took several options such as automatic transmission, ABS, power seats, sun-roof, Home-Link transmitter and carpeted mats which drove up the price. I would definitely recommend this great car to all those who want a sporty sedan. Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
This is my third Nissan Maxima and there is no better car for the money. The engine is definityly its strength, the 190 hp moter with 207 pounds of torque is amazing. The Bose stereo is the best you can get from a factory stereo none better. I have the SE with every option and that's the only way to go I had a 92, now and 95 and my wife has a 97.
Weakness:
The fuel injectors are the weakness of the car they have to be replaced every 80K if you want peak performance. If you don't use 93 octane you'll have to replace them more often. The car should come standard with 16" wheel the 00 does. I paid 12K for my 92 in 93 with 21K miles on it. 14K for my 95 SE loaded iwth only 41K miles on it. I paid 14.5K for my wife 97 SE with only 31K miles on it. I won't buy another car unless Nissan really messes up with the Maxima. I love them there the best car for under 30K dollars bar none. Strength:
-Smooth Powerful V6 Engine (222HP,3.0L).
Weakness:
-Automatic transmission shifts slowly in low gears. It is with good reason that I compare this vehicle with luxury nameplates. The Maxima feels and drives like a luxury car. I test drove all of the above and could not see or feel a good reason to spend thousands more for any other car. The exterior design has a modern, sports/luxury look and I like it very much. But, once you are inside, as some car magazines phrase it "you won't care what the car looks like outside". You will feel like you are in the cockpit of an airplane and not in a car. All controls/buttons are well placed (except for the side mirrors control). The car is very spacious for front and back passengers and the seats are very comfortable. Maxima
Strength:
Has lasted incredibly well & maintenance has been low. It now has 200,000+ miles & I expect to keep it at least another year (I've had it almost 6 years). Automatic transmission didn't give out until 185,000 miles, & I had no hesitation replacing & keeping the car going, as it continues to be a very reliable car. Also is very roomy (at least in the front) and rides very comfortably. The digital door locks (which are discontinued in the newer models) are a great feature - you can't lock yourself out & can get back in without having your keys with you. The mileage is so high because this is always our choice to drive on long trips, & unless there's a foot of snow on the ground, my other half would rather drive this than his Explorer.
Weakness:
The automatic seatbelts are a pain in the neck! Always getting tangled in things I'm carrying, & strangling me if I open the door to reach the mailbox! I have no other complaints. I love this car! Although mine was a real bargain (high miles for its age even when I got it), I couldn't complain about the price, even if I had been paying the usual price these go for. Similar Products Used: The only other sedans in the "lower luxury" range that I've compared with are other Maximas. My sister bought a '97 Maxima & my in-laws have a '98, & have also been happy with theirs & had no problems. |
