Strength:

Powerful engine, smmooth ride, good gas milage, good value for that quality.

Weakness:

Very rarely, but it did happen that it had difficulty to start.
Strange problem of tire slippery. Black paint chips easily.

Got this car for $19,500. It drives OK. But would like to buy a car that will feel safer.

Strength:

Powerful engine, at least in writing.

Weakness:

Start problem, paint quality, suspension not very smooth.

Exactly same problem as Jiang said: hard to start (this is a new car and I have experienced this for at least 6 times and the dealer thinks I am lying). And black paint chips very easily. No traction control and small tires for GXE so he might experience some problem. I like the brake a lot. But the ride is kind of bumpy. Don't know why. It hurts my back if I drive for over an hour.

Strength:

As all reviews state, it has a great engine. Plenty of torque and very smooth. There is abundant room inside. The ride is comfortable.

Weakness:

- The manual transmission is poor. The clutch groans and slips when cold. The shifter throws are long and not sporty at all.
- The trunk braces intrude into the trunk space.
- Drivers seat has no form and you slide around on it in turns.
- Several rattles in the dash that come and go depending on the temperature.
- Severe road noise coming from the factory tires.
- Handling is average, too much body roll.

The Maxima has a great engine, excellent fit and finish other than the few rattles. A/C cools very well and the auto-temp works well despite what others have said. I would not buy it again - I really thought it would be much more sporty to drive than it is.

Owned 1994 Accord EX for 4 years. This car, even though it had a 4 cyl. engine was much sportier. The Accord was much more fun to drive - flat cornering, good grip, lively performance and 26mpg in town.

Strength:

Engine. Same old engine as 1999 but some twist at the exhaust system to make it 222 HP. I bought it for the engine. Actually Honda Accord V6 is more fun to drive.

Weakness:

Ugly rear desgin, altima same problem.
ride not very smooth although using larger tires. Suspension not as good as Honda accord.

Ugly rear design. Suspension not as good as Honda accord. Handeling not as good as Honda accord. acceleration good but not very smooth. Good air con though noisy. Front lights are bright. Powerful, I guess.

I love my Nissan Maxima! This is my 3rd Maxima. I wouldn't trade my car. The ride is smooth and the handling is wonderful. Also, I look very good indeed in my Maxima and feel very special when driving it.

Strength:

Smooth ride, quiet engine, spacious interior, great handling and great brakes.

Weakness:

Fold down seats

I love this car! A lot of people complain about the exterior design but I think that it makes the car stand out from cars similar to it. It definitly has a larger feeling interior compare to the Accord and Camry. This is my first automatic v-6 and the pick is pretty good compared to a manual transmission.

Strength:

Acceleration, handling, looks, reliability

Weakness:

Black paint was very poor quality and it was cared for exceptionally well.

I only paid 21000 for a regular SE, with no options. It was used for two years, before I bought a new Cobra. It got great gas mileage and accelerated like a bat from you-know-where(for a four door)! The interior was appointed very well and the car never needed any type of servicing. I'd easily buy another Maxima, if they didn't look so bizarre nowadays. You can't go wrong with one.

Resale value was very good as well.

Model Reviewed: /Maxima SE

Strength:

Envigorating acceleration, great handling, silky smooth V-6 standard on all models, comfortable appointments, great stereo, and bullet proof fit and finish.

Weakness:

Few options should be standard on SE, Nissan's flagship should at least get those wonderful blue headlights (Infiniti I30).

First of all I have to say that for less than 30,000 dollars there is not a better car available in the U.S.. This car has amazing acceleration and wonderful handling. The Bose stereo is quite nice, although it could use another subwoofer. The paint should be more durable as well, after a few run-ins with the local bird bombers I discovered a chip where a bird bomb was wiped away. The interior is very comfortable although the passenger side seat could use more lumbar support. Rear seating area is roomy and comfortable. The automatic climate control works beautifuly. I do not have heated seats or mirrors, Nissan calls this the merridian package, this wasn't metioned by my salesman. This is an option that I have yearned for on cold, wet mornings. I also don't have traction control, which i don't really miss but on the sporty SE model it should be standard. My gripes are minor but I am trying to be objective about this extremely capable, fun to drive, rocket of a sedan. I am 21 years old, not exactly nissan's target demographic but I would recommend this vehicle to anyone, regardless of age.
