This car is a nightmare. I made the biggest mistake of my life buying this car. I have 25,000 miles on the car and have nothing but problems. The a/c had to be replaced the car shakes the drivers window has trouble going back up. I have been to the dealer 24 times since I bought the car and still they can't seem to fix all the problems. My most recent problem is the gas gauge does not work. I have it in the dealer just last week because the turn signals did not work. What a piece of junk I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy.

I'm most dissatisfied with my purchase. I have had my car for 4 yrs. I purchased brand new. I have had 4 repairs over $500. If I would have not bought a extended warrenty I would have been screwed. This car has brought me nothing but problems!!!

WHEN THE WHELLS DO SPIN ON ICE OR SHOMETHING YOU HEAR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A WHISTLE COMING FROM THE TRANS. ON HIGHWAY 2 OF 5 TIMES IF YOU BRAKE IT MAKES NOISE. AND DAYTIME/ AUTOLIGHTS WORK AS THEY PLEASE.. ITS LIKE MY CAR HAS ITS OWN PERSONALITY AND ITS UP TO ME TO MAKE SURE "MS.ALERO" IS IN A GOOD MOOD....OH NOW AT 65,K IM BURNING OIL. AND USING MORE GAS THAN MY MOMS DODGE RAM OHHHHH PLEAS HELP THEY SHOULD PUT THESE CARS IN THE "LOOKING FOR CRAP" SECTION MY 1988 HYUNDAI EXCELL WITH 135,000 MILES AND PROBABLY 3 OWNERS WAS A BRETTER BUY AT 1000$ THAN THIS AT 10,000$

Like others have said, this car was great for the first 2 years I had it. In the last year MANY things have gone bad. (it now as only 57,000 miles) I've replaced the brakes and pads and replaced the battery. One say while going to work the rear view mirror fell down. A week later I got into my car to find the center air vent hanging down. Finally, a few days ago my driver side window wouldn't go down and both mirrors would go out, but not in.

Mine is coming up on 50000 miles, purring like a kitten, great pickup for a four cyl designed by lotus I'm not too suprised. this car is meant to be babied it will thank you for it regular maintenance will go a long way with oldsmobiles my parent had an 89' eighty eight ran 350000 before the transmission finally went out I like my alero better than my 94' lexus gs 300

Fun to drive, sporty and fast. Good sound system. Comfortable and good for long trips. Roomy and seats 4 comfortably. (sedan) Good computer system letting you know when oil, washer fluid, etc need to be replaced.

Brakes suck and need to be replaced more than usual. Weak body, many dents.

I've read a lot of the reviews for the Alero and I haven't had half as many problems that were listed. The lower intake had to be replaced and that was about $700 and I've had to replaced the brakes and pads and they need to be replaced again 6 months later. The only complaint I have about the Alero is about the body of the car. I have never had a car with so many small dents in it. The body is not hard enough and dents if a chair blowing in the wind hits it, happened to me. It's currently in the body shop being fixed for a few larger dents. I wanted to tint the windows and add a sunroof but with all the dents, it's not worth the money. The body should have been built stronger or made out of plastic material...or something. I do love my car and I'm happy with it, but I'll be looking for a new car within the next 3 years and it won't be an Alero.

This car is a complete piece of crap. It has serious break/rotor problems. Even though my car is under waranty breaks are maintenance and at my expense. Intake gasket leaks on manifold causing it to overheat. I have replaced 4 tires (bulletin on those because tire did not fit properly on rim...but only for 2 front tires. Then when you rotate too bad, only 2 tires. Broken cupholder and console replaced. I have a premium stereo system and 2 brand new stereos have been replaced because the clock moves ahead 2 to 3 hours and all of the presets go out which means there is a power problem. I have an electrical problem and they don't know what it is. They (dealer) says it's like looking for a needle in a haystack and they may not find out why. They said they have to take the car apart and start looking at wires. My windows are scratched from power up and down. I drive down the street and the power locks just go up and down. After reading similar complaints I am scared to death to drive this car. This car is a LEMON and I have filed a complaint with GM. Mich. Lemon Law says you basically have to put the dealer on notice and give them one last time to correct problems. I can't wait to get rid of this death trap.

i couldnt wait to get my new car now i cant wait to get rid of it every three to six months im in the shop i have them on speed dial they know my name from the egr valve to the alloy rims bending to the eletrical problem with the dash bourd lights i had enough but wait there is more: the blower only works on the last two speeds my alarm goes wackey all the time and the dealer who installed it doesnt understand the problem the struts were replaced at least four times the driving shaft was replaces three times the rear suspension is a mess and now the altenator needs to be replaced its always something with this car the frst few months i had it i told people how much i loved it and i recommended it to a alot of people now i cant even look them in the face i feel so bad buying the car was stressfull, having the car is stressfull and now getting ride of the car will be stressfull too the machanic at the dealership told me that the alero always has problems and i should never buy an american car again. i might take his advice on that the ford probe with the mazda engine was the best car i ever had. and it was 10 years old. stay away from the alero i wish i did!!
