Overly sensitive steering

Love this car! Looks great, runs smoothe, lots of great features (dynamic sound, cruise control, 3.5L Twin Cam V6, CD/Cassette player). Does well on gas, not great, but better than most. chicks dig it.

Strength:

Nice size, smaller than my Lesabre. Lots of luxury touches on the GL, such as steering wheel controls, dual climate, illumination everywhere, etc. The 3.5L engine is strong at all speeds and frugal on fuel. It definitely has more of a Japanese feel to it ... revs freely. My 3.8L OHV is slower to rev, more of a traditonal Detroit mill. Bottom line is strict dealer maintenance has allowed this car to reach 1/4 million kilometres with no unscheduled repairs. Still a very tight automobile.

Weakness:

An occasional turn signal fuse will blow, and rear calipers will squeak for the first few seconds in the morning. Burns 1quart oil every 5000 kilometres, perfectly acceptable. I use Penzoil High Mileage with good results. Firm steering, ride, and seats. Now an orphaned GM product ... such a waste!

Probably the most understated of the GM clones, not as garish as a Grand Prix, and a more durable engine than the Regal GS. I purchased mine at auction with 200,000klm, now at 230,000. Burns no oil, tranny shifts smoothly. White with chrome rims and tint, still looks fresh. I've owned 9 Hondas, and none have performed as reliably as this car.

Strength:

great acceleration, especially 1st gear and 60+. Minimal body roll when going through corners, and speed sensitive is awesome. Climate control.

Weakness:

Rear speakers don't work in cold weather (have no idea why), drivers door sticks when openin from inside, and small gap between center vents and dash. That's all

WOW, the power is amazing! If you're thinking of buying this car, definately get the 3.5 Liter, destroys the 3.8 liter in a race. Definately an amazing car, great styling, smooth ride, great power.

Strength:

Good ride and handling, quiet interior and gentle ride even at higher speeds (75+). Controls easy to operate and logically placed. Room, room and more room.

Weakness:

Don't like the whole canister oil thing that requires you to take it to the dealer. The dashboard is seperating just a little from around the vents (I do live in the hot and humid south) Nothing else that I would consider a weakness.

I purchased this vehicle due to my Taurus being totaled by an ignorant red light runner. I've had the car for almost 3 years and purchased it with 45,000 miles. I am very impressed with the handling, looks, performance and power of this car. I have read dozens upon dozens of reviews and it seems as though it is an extreme example of love it or hate it! Other than a replacement air conditioning button on the dash board, this vehicle has been very good to me and I intend to keep it for at least another 3 years or more. I have had similar issues with an unusally hot instrument cluster and an occasional flickering of the lights, but other than that, I can't complain. I purchased this car because I had owned two other Oldsmobiles and had great results with them as well. It's truly a shame that the division is gone. I will miss it.

Strength:

Engine, handling, stereo, roominess, comfort, styling, nearly everything. I like the feel of the magnetically controlled steering, that makes the steeering stiffer the faster you go. I don't know that the PCS has saved me yet, but it's nice to know it is there.

Weakness:

Originally, I thought it needed a memory to recall seat, steering wheel, and mirror positions for different drivers. But that has not been a problem. I won't let anyone else drive the car.

I came up behind a 1998 Intrigue on the interstate in late 1997. These cars had no rear "Oldsmobile" badge, so I was not sure what kind of car it was. But, it was so good looking, I decided I had to get one someday. That day came in the fall of 2000. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Exceptional in all respects. Looks, ride, power, handling, and comfort were perfect to my taste. The Bose sound system is wonderful. No problems, no failures, no glitches. Not so much as a lightbulb has burned out. It is so sad that GM could not sell enough of them. This is truly one of the best cars made.

Handles well Looks nice Good pick up

Weakness:

Headlights flicker

Great Car! But few problems. Handles very similar to my mother 1990 Chevy Beretta. I have had problems with the headlights and dash lights flicker. And glad to hear I am not the only one with the problem. I have had problems with the regulator that controls the blower for the A/C and heat replaced once already and now I need to replace it again. It only works on HIGH so now I either freeze or roast. I cannot use any other setting for the heat. I need to replace that again and I just had it replaced in Feburary. Now my drivers side window will not go up. I haven't noticed any problems with the stero buttons being hot. I will check it out. Other than those few maintence requirements no other complaints. It handles well great speed and I feel safe in it. Brought car in 2000. Was program car. Now I have 70000 miles on it.

1990 Chevy Beretta, this car handles pretty much the same as to the Beretta. It is like they took the blueprint for the Beretta, added 4 doors instead of the 2 and copied it.

Trying to install a cd player didn't work

I have never driven a better car! I feel safe while driving/riding in this car. All the other cars I have had nothing but problems. My parents only had to fix the thermostat one time. There has been no other problems. The car handles great, the power is awesome! The car looks great with spoilers. And it's great on gas! The car is just awesome.

Weakness:

minor electical problems (lights flicker),smaller back seat not great for multiple car seats, the stereo buttons do tend to get a little hot after driving for a while

I've owned this car for two years now and have had only very minor problems. Bought it with 14000 miles and now up to 50000 with never having been to the mechanic. It handles great and has a lot of zip. Has good fuel economy and it looks pretty sharp too. The interior/exterior lights do tend to flicker, but not all the time. The gear shifter button popped out, but in the big picture, that's pretty minor. My only real complaint is that the back seat is a little small for multiple car seats. Will need to upgrade to something larger soon and hate to let this one go!

Strength:

It's hard to find any.

Weakness:

transmission, electrical, interior trim

This car is the absolute worst. I've had many problems in the 5 years I've owned it. I had to replace the transmission a couple of months ago right after spending $600 to fix an oil leak. Now I have another (different) oil leak, a door that doesn't want to open and a power window that goes clunk when it fully retracts (I already replaced the motor for the window a year ago at the tune of $500). I'm upset that this car is worth virtually nothing and it has only 65K miles. Like a lot of other reviewers I could kick myself for not going with a Camry or Honda. This car is a POS and money pit.
