Strength:

styling, engine performance, suspension brakes, interior comfort and roominess.

Weakness:

Engine seems a little noisy, downshifts could be faster.

Well first,I never would have considered buying an Oldsmobile but Arthur Itis and Rue Matizum caught up after driving a real sweet Datsun 280Z for the past nine years. So anyway, real easy to get in and out of. Seats are very comfortable, good support and are adjustable enough to make any driver feel right at home. Killer Bose C.D.stereo system. 360 deg. visability is excellent. Styling is spot on and doesn't look like the rest of the pack. Now that they finally got it right, to bad they're going under. Anyone who wants a great, yes great car for less than they would pay for anything comprable from any other manufacture should definatly check out the Intrique.

This car is awesome...bet car I have ever owned bar none (including my old corvette). There isn't one thing I can complain about. I had to replace a warped rotor at 75K and it's at 125K now. Buy this car!

Strength:

Performance, stability, noise insulation, dual leather power, and heated seats (getting up in age), premium sound system, plenty of back seat room for grandkids car seats, trunk OK for 2 sets of golf clubs and luggage, minimal service problems for a US car.

Weakness:

I bought this one after leasing the '99 because my wife liked the '99 so well. However, I also bought the 100,000 mile warranty special because I do expect some problems after 50,000 miles. I put 45,000 on the leased car before I turned it in. I can only say that after 40 yrs experience owning cars, I would not expect a used US car with 50,000 miles to not have problems in the next 50000. I have a feeling the interior problems noted by other reviewers might result from not having the interior upgrade package. I didn't notice any in the 45000 mi for the '99 or the 33000 so far on the 2002. Also, the problems with the power windows might be related to whether the car is kept in a garage. I used to have problems with both lights and power windows when I didn't have a garage. No matter how good the water seals may seem, moisture seems able to find a way get to about anything.

Bought new to replace a '99 Intrigue I had leased new. Thought the '99 was the best car overall I'd ever tried including 3 Park Ave Ultras I owned /leased previously and about every other mid-size or luxury car that can be rented. (I rented cars about 40 weeks a year for several years.) I never thought I'd buy an Olds but I was moving to DC and wanted something a little smaller than Park Ave. I tried LeSabre, Accord, Camry, Lexus 300 etc. but Intrigue was roomier than all imports, less expensive, and a lotg more fun to drive than LeSabre, Taurus, and other US cars I've driven.

I also owned a couple of Chrysler vehicles (van and sedan) and found them to live up to Chryslers reputation. I'll never againconsider buying anything made by Chrysler.

Strength:

215 horsepower V-6. Good highway gas milage

Weakness:

interior designing, sloppy handling

Lots of power and decent handling, but if your used to driving and Eagle Talon this thing handles like a ocean liner. The trim on the inside is very tacky. But again the outside styling saves it.

Strength:

-Acceleration and Handling -Driver Comfort -Styling -Reliability -GENERAL MOTORS!!!

Weakness:

No K&N Air Filter available.

This sports sedan simply blows away anything else in its class. The Intrigue offers handling, acceleration and comfort that cannot be found in its competition such as the Accord and Camry. Oldsmobile specifically designed it this way. Which is why at 56,000 miles I have yet to do anything other than routine work and I still am enthused about driving, whether it be to work or for the hell of it. Let's break it down. Design and Ergonomics: When I drive down the road I notice people looking at this car. These same people do not give the bland Accord or Camry or Taurus a second glance. The reason is that the exterior is gracefully swooped back, has the charachteristic sharp and mean front fascia and the tail end is wide and powerful looking. My particular Intrigue is Ruby Red with gold accent striping and a rear wing. I also have chrome Oldsmobile plate frames instead of cheap ass dealer plastic things that braindead people keep on their cars. People also notice the nice wheels (not cheap covers like on the Camry) and the chrome window lining and badges. On the inside, the dash layout is the most useful yet attractive design I have ever experienced. All of the controls are in easy reach and there are places for everything you might have in your car. The seats are firm and well bolstered and the rear has good knee room and the most comfortable theatre style seating I have ever sat in. Leather is abundant within as well. Handling This car handles better than the Accord,Camry,Intrepid,Regal,Impala,Grand Prix and Taurus. There are a few reasons for this. One is the fact that it is wider than any of these cars. Another is the tires. I have top quality Michelins now but the generous tire size alone is better than most of the competitors. The suspension is fully independant and is firm yet has a very compliant ride. And the biggest thing is the Precision Control System. This system includes the full function traction control, performance axle ratio, high performance tires (Eagle RS-A's over the standard LS's) and a computer actuated antiskid system. This last feature is not even available on almost all of its competitors of its time. This package yields superior cornering and steering feedback which I myself find very enjoyable in the twisties. Acceleration This car hauls! With its 215hp 3.5L V6 with 230 foot pounds of torque, I have yet to be bested at the stop light. Now granted, it won't take down a Corvette, but I have defeated supercharged Bonnevilles and Regals and eat riceburners daily. I still love watching the little children play in their underpowered, sub-compact, embarassing abominations called cars that are powered on rice and stupidity. But anyway, the Intrigue's great powerband makes it easy to get to any speed at anytime. Reliablilty I have yet to have anything fail on my Intrigue at 56,000 miles. Period.

poor quality on the simple things, plastic interior parts don't fit and squeek, Window design is not good at all.

car has 85k miles on it and have had minimal problems. The only real gripe I have is the design of the electric Window regulators. I have replaced two requlators and have repaired the other two. I'd love to find the idiot that designed this thing.

THIS CAR IS TERRIBLE!!!!!! I am a college student and I needed a nice car for college. I drove a horrible Ford Tempo before this and I was glad to buy my first car. I bought this car in late 2001 and I thought I got a great deal. SO far 2 years later this car has been in the shop over 10 times from starter going bad, to blow engine block to broken AC. The car only has 56K miles on it right now I bought it with 27K and this is pathetic. The quality of the interior parts is horrible parts don't seem to be in place very well, plastic parts keep moving around, its really sad. I shoud have bought the Camry I regret it everyday but its too late I have another year to graduate so until then I hope nothing goes wrong with this turkey. This car is discontinued anyway so I doubt anyone cares about buying an Intrigue.

Good power, runs 15.80 @ 89MPH in 1/4 mile excellent handling, brakes ok very solid platform

Weakness:

Wipers loose trim Cost of repairs

Car just turned over 330,000 km.Series of small problems since new, eratic wipers are the worst, brake shudder when new but new rotors fixed that, heater is not up to our northern climate and the same goes for the wipers. motor and drive train are still strong, if you have one of these cars with over 250,000km be prepaired , both wheel bearings, shocks and struts, ball joints and tye rod ends will have to be replaced right around 300,000km , just like clock work, the worst part about this first is the replacement cost, then you will find that aftermarket struts will not operate like the oem units, you will have to replace all 4 strut mounts as well, this is very expensive and again aftermarket mounts LEAVE A LOT TO BE DESIRED, other than that these are a great car, one of the best I have ever driven in the wet IF you have good tires. When ever I wear this one out I will be looking for another.
