Strength:

Room! Nice power for a 4 cylinder, good stereo, nice clear coat paint, moonroof, arctic A/C, big back seat for you know what!

Weakness:

Popping door , chipping steering wheel, squeaky brakes-one minute the brakes work like new the next you have to push all the way to the floor board

The Plymouth Breeze obviously has head gasket and brake problems and I think Chrysler needs to look into that. But the Breeze has been a good car and I experience the same problems, squeaky brakes, popping door, and cracking steering wheel color. But every car comes with problems I guess.
--Was driving one day and engine sensor registered a problem and I looked under the hood and the spark plug blowout, car was gushing oil, but its not the Plymouth Breezes fault the spark plugs were just 100 years old and I had to replace them. Now everything works fine!

Strength:

Nice styling
Extremely roomy rear seats
Decent power
Good on highways
Seats are abit stiff, but comfy nonetheless
Good handling
Decent fuel economy

Weakness:

Too damn low to the ground
The windows would suck in sooo much solar rays, the interior easily heats up beyond 70 degrees.
The front passenger side windows crank would rattle like crazy
Engine runs extremely hot (no overheating problems though, probablly related to the stock t-stat).
Lack of mods available
The rear shelf is too high, hard to see out the back
Can hear road noise, due to choice of tires DC decided to put on ?
Poor ventilation; from windows rolled down and from interior vents
Large windshield means extra time to scrape frost from it

I bought a brand new 1998 Plymouth Breeze with the 2.4 L engine in 1999 (year end model). After 2 years and 21 000 km, I decided to trade the vehicle in for a used 1995 Dak 4x4.

My only two big complaints about the vehicle is that it is too low to the ground. Everytime it snowed, and nothing heavy, maybe about 3 cm or so, you could hear the snow hit the underside of the car. Very nerve wracking, don't know if the snow could hit a gas line or brake line. As well, if a pickup truck/suv/minivan was in front/behind me, all I saw was the vehicle's bumper right at my forehead because the car was so low.

Second complaint, the windows really sucked in the solar rays causing the interior of the car to heat up quickly and make the interior of the car extremely hot. The worse culprit is the front windshield, it is about the size of a football field. Heat generated from the solar rays passing thru the windows would impede the operation of the a/c, because heat generated would displace the cold air coming from the a/c. Thus, I believe this would cause the compressor to kick in more and wearing it out quickly. I even had the windows tinted, and the heat coming from the windows was incredible. Even on sunny days where the outside temp -10 or so, the windows would suck in the solar rays and cause the inside of the interior to heat up to 30 or 40 degrees (I would sometimes have to turn the a/c on in -10 degree weather because of the interior heat of the car).

High operating temp from the engine, which would cause hot air to blow from the vents even though outside temp was cool. Thus, this in turn would cause the a/c to take longer to cool down. Could this high operating temp cause the engine block to warp, causing the head gasket to fail ?

I didn't have the vehicle long enough to experience any head gasket failures or anything like that, but from my 2 year ownership, I was quite pleased with the vehicle; quality was decent (minus the rattling window crank), passengers have said the rear seating is extemely comfy and roomy, and I got decent power on the highways.

The overall rating is a misnomer, I like the car over all (it is definitely worth a 4), but I would not buy it again due to the fact that it was too low to the ground and the windows sucked in the solar rays causing the interior to become extremely hot. Besides, I am not much of a family car kind of person anyways.

For those looking for a decent family car, this is it.

Strength:

Overall integrity. No rattles or squeaks, no leaks, still looks "current", very reliable, good fuel economy.

Weakness:

Bigger engine (which became available in 1998) would have been better, steering wheel seemed to wear "thin" sooner that I expected. (Lost its color)

Best car I've ever owned. I currently have over 136000 miles on it, everything still works great. Original clutch, battery, AC, you name it.
Although it is now beginning to show its age, (seat, rock pings on front end) it has served well, and I have never babied it. I wish all car could prove to be as reliable.

Strength:

the car is spacious, comfortable, semi-sporty for a family sedan.

Weakness:

the tran. slips at times. but yet to have a promblem with the tran and the 2.0 16 valves 4cylnder is a little to small for the size of the car.

I think I paid about $2000 to much for the car. I don't think it will hold apperication value. Only time wil tell if the 2liter engine that the manufactor installed in the car was the right idea. If I were to purchase another car of this type it would have to come with a V6 engine.

very roomy decent interior nice stereo fuel efficient stylish design

Weakness:

I been having problems with the fuel pump, catalycer and a bad sensor you know with "check ingine" the steering wheel vibrates too much a bigger engine could be better instead of the underpower 2.0L

Is a nice car very roomy for its class, a well designed car fuel efficient for its size my car has like 97k and I have invested around $4000 on parts like brakes, tune ups, fuel pump and I never had any problems with the head gasket like the others I think is becouse is 96 anyway I like my car and I always take care of it that why still running fine.

Value, styling, parts cost....................

Weakness:

Quality of misc components, small engine..............

I bought the car in 97' with 20k miles on it. Two weeks after I bought it the car wouldnt start. Turned out to be the fuel pump relay, no big deal. At 38K miles a cam seal went bad, not a good thing. Two days and under $400 later I was back on the road. Somewhere in the 80K miles range the head gasket went bad. At this point I was really upset with the quality of this vehicle. When I reached the 130k miles mark the trans went. Not a cheap repair however its been fine since. Again at 160k miles the cam seal went. I am not sure if it was the same side as before. Around 170k miles the tach/digital display went bad and the speedo would glitch. I had to replace it with a dodge stratus cluster (looks better anyway, white gages). Right now it has 180k miles on it and I have to replace the drivers side outer tie-rod end. This will be the third tie-rod replaced on the car (not the same one all the time). If you figure the price of the car and the fact that its only a 2.0 litre, its amazing that the engine keeps going strong. It will do over 100 mph with no problems! Other misc problems were both of the locks on the doors and the trunk lock. I also noticed that it likes to run hot, but still in the middle of the temp gage. Its hard to rate this car because I havent owned it since new. I found out that it was a rental car before I owned it. If I had known this, I wouldnt have bought it. I imagine it has some hard miles on it (bought with 20k miles). Overall I am happy with the car. My worst experience has been with the trans ($1.5k to repair). As we speak I have 181,500 miles on it. Not bad for a 2.0 huh?
