Luxury-like ride, 3.8L V6, looks nice for a 4-door sedan, It's a Pontiac! Black too!
Weakness:
Wish it was supercharged! Also only has 15-inch wheels, 16-inch rims would be nicer I'm 17 and this is my first car. Most kids my age drive their parent's cars or own cheapo ones themselves. My Bonneville is nicer than any of my friend's cars. They all have Hondas and Toyotas with weak little 4-cyl engines. My eight year-old base model Bonneville can beat any of them. I've raced all sorts of cars - Civic EX, Mazda MX-3, Honda Accord - and beaten most of them. Decent handling too. It gets around 21 mpg. The best thing about my car, though, is the system. I've got a Panasonic DPX105 with a RF Punch 120a2 for the front Blaupunkt 4x6s, RF Punch 250a2 for the back Polk dx9s, and a RF Punch Power 360a2 for the Infinity Perfect 12 in a sealed box in the trunk. Oh yeah and a pair of Infinity tweeters for the front. SQ is awesome. Similar Products Used: My friend's 1992 Honda Accord - piece of junk is falling apart! Another friend has a 1994 Grand Am - Nicer car than the Accord but doesn't have the power of the Bonneville |

The car is extremely fast. It gets up and goes. I also like the way it looks. Despite what other people think, I like the rims that match the car. The interior is really comfortable, and the stereo is awesome. I love the controls on the steering wheel.
Weakness:
I bought it in bad condition, but I didnt know that. The dealer is an idiot and didnt check anything. I have already has the anti-lock brakes go on me costing $1800 to fix, then the transmission blew costing another $1500. This all happened within the first month of owning the car. Now somethin else is wrong with it, and it like to stall when im driving everynow and then. I replaced the fuel pump, but with no avail. So if anyone has an idea why this is doing this, drop me a line. I would recommend this car to someone who wants a stylish luxury car that is rather quick for having a 3800 V6. very reliable, comfortable ride. Have had it for over 5 years - - no major mechanical problems; only maintenence type repairs and a few electrical issues (window motor, cruise control, alternator, cam sensor magnet).
Weakness:
poor lumbar support, trunk access height too high, paint peeling off roof Have 170k+ miles on the 91, paid 9500.00 in '94. Very reliable, have never been left wishing I had bought an import! Roomy, quality interior - - still no tears or wear spots in the interior, even with 170k mi. No wind noises, no/very few rattles/squeaks. Great engine performance, power, transmission shifts crisp, not too hard or so soft you wonder if it really shifted. Bought a 98 SE recently because of the great reliability and excellent quality. . . Why not expect the same from it? Similar Products Used: None |

strong engine, nice look, lots of room.
Weakness:
shifting, the car belonged to my parents last year and then i bought it off of them. It cost 800$ for a new transmission, and it shifts violently sometimes. i paid only 1500$ for my 91Le but it has 270000 kms on it, it still runs well and has loads of torque. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Good pickup and agility for a car of it's size and weight. 3.8 v6 is a true workhorse. Heads up display is a great feature. The seats are like sitting in an easy chair.
Weakness:
Too much plasic in the exterior fenders and trim. Odd sized radio cut-out. Wood dash trim is a bit cheesey, as are the speakers. I paid 4000 for it used, taking advantage of someone who didn't know wha the car was worth. I would absolutely recommend it, might eve consider buying one new. It's a great overall car, and it's a comfortable cruiser. If you are going to buy one, stick with the SSE or SSEi models. Similar Products Used: n/a |

This supercharged 6 cyl is unbelievable for the size of car. Strong acceleration even at very high speeds. Smooth ride at all speeds. Very tight inside cabin. Hold value well due to low production & being beyond fully loaded.
Weakness:
The suspension/cornering has alot to be desired. Not enough of these cars were made/sold which drives up specialized parts cost. Have read that many changes were made to improve the design of this model between 92' & 96'. Just over 80,000 miles and now running into some maintenance. Alternator, A/C, crank pulley, tensioner pulleys, & idler pulley, all being legitimite repairs at this point but, I'm getting tired of mechanics starting on the car and then calling me and saying " This ain't no regular Bonneville, this is an SSEi, we'll have to....$$$ " even after I tried to explain the dual serpentine belt system and supercharger when I brought it in. It's nice to drive a "not seen everywhere/fully loaded" car but one sure has to pay for it when something goes wrong. Similar Products Used: None |

Awesome power, nice ride, stylish interior, lots of seat positions, easy to reach controls, volume control on steering wheel, nice sound, refined look, luxerious.
Weakness:
gages are out of whack, the '92 rims, I paid $8000 for mine with 39000 miles on it. I am a little bit worried about the mantainance on it, after reading some of the other reviews. This is my college car so I hope it will last me. Personally I love the power that it has and the smooth look. Similar Products Used: Tauras SHO |

Smooth ride, torquey engine...lots of buttons for guys who like 'em.
Weakness:
This car has been costly for me. I've had to replace the supercharger at a cost of $2100, the alternator, water pump, oil sending unit, the mass airflow sensor (twice), and tensioner and idler pulleys all in addition to regular maintenance. Because it's the top of the line SSEi, everything costs more to replace. I just crossed 100,000 miles, and the repair cycle is starting all over again. I bought the car with very low mileage on it, and it looked awesome. I maintain my cars because of my extensive commute to work. This car has mostly highway mileage on it, and as you can tell I've had some serious problems with it. I spoke to the service department manager about the car and he's told me that the superchargers rarely if ever last beyond 80K mileage. He did tell me that the Bonneville SSE, SLE, SE models without the supercharger have much better track records. I hope so. Similar Products Used: Prior to this I had a Grand Prix, and though it shares the same engine and suerpcharger I put more than 100,000 miles on it with nothing other than regular maintenance to blank my bank account. |

We really enjoy our car - we had one before our 1999 and would purchase another Bonneville in the future! |

sporty looking for a big car. good vrooooom sound for non-supercharged engine. engine has some poop to it. cleaner and sharper looking without the spoiler in back. love the pontiac aluminum/alloy rims. nice upholstery.
Weakness:
knocks on regular fuel. use plus or premium, however still knocks a little on steep grades, but it says that in the owner's manual. go figure. needs better ergonomics for cupholders. air flow sensor went out, which caused surging and poor acceleration. abs....still getting used to them. some paint chipping on the hood. fuel gauge is erratic. i bought this vehicle from a friend who originally ordered from the factory. its basically an se on steroids with all the extras he put on it. still, its a wolf in sheep's clothing. would love to have a factory cd to go with it to keep the clean dash lines. Similar Products Used: i would compare it to new chrysler 300m. i think the '94 was ahead of it's time, thus so long to change body style in 2000. |
