UNRELIABLE, expensive to maintain, Interior falls apart Piece of Junk! Rides great when it runs, but way too many problems for a 3 year old car.The engine siezed up at 64000 miles due to the plastic intake warping. Constant problems with the electrical system, including the moronic design of the positive battery cables. Yes, cables. There are 2 separate pos cables which means dirt and grime get between them and you don't get a connection. The constant removing and cleaning them means they get loose and don't fit right so you have to replace the cables. $20 for parts, $65-70/labor if you don't do it yourself. I have had the car 1&1/2 years and am on my 4th set. constant ABS problems, pads wear too quickly compared to other similar cars I have owned. Interior is junk, all plastic and breaks if you look at it wrong. Engine design makes it very difficult to work on yourself, which results in extremely costly repairs. Parts are also a bit higher than normal. Transmission tends to shift a bit hard at times, but only a minor amount and not very noticeable. I spent time as a service manager and have seen these same problems with other Bonnevilles. Overall it is a roomy comfortable car with great handling and plenty of power, but due to the problems I have had and seen in others cars, I will not buy another and would not recommend this car to anyone. I like Air Conditioner. I like the trunk space.
Weakness:
I have replaced the trans once and the previous owner replaced it also. It constantly tells me that I do not have traction and my mechanic can figure out why. I can't believe that I bought this car! I hate this car. Similar Products Used: I had a 85 Buick LeSabre before and had never had this many problems. |

good engine, lots of power, roomy, great handling and sound system.
Weakness:
Please dont get me started on this issue. This car has the worst transmission i have EVER seen. My cars is now on its 4th tranny and it just started messing up again. I am so sick of spending money on this car i dont know what to do. All i can say is that i dont fly on it any more and it still messes up. I bought this car because i like the lines of it. Mine has the shifter on the wheel so it feels like a grandma car. But that 3800 really halls butt!!!!!! I have the slate gray with 16" wheels and spoiler. Really roomy car. It has lots of room in the trunk and lots of buttons. Similar Products Used: 92 S-10 4.3 V6. Ahh it sitting in the front yard with 2500 dollars worth of damage |

I love the room inside and body style of the car. It run great when it runs.
Weakness:
I do not like that the back window rolls half-way down. The engine is no good and the ABS is worthless. I purchase my bonneville with 44,000 miles, I have put about 30,000 miles on it within a 18 months. I keep the oil change and complete timely maintence service, but it was know service to me. In that time frame the engine has went out and other costly repairs. I have to change the brakes after several months. I have put alot of money in this car, it look good on the outside but that all that is good about it. Similar Products Used: any car |

NONE This car is sweet! My bonneville has gotten decent gas mileage in the city and on the highway. It has AMAZING acceleration for how heavy the car is. Mine was rated at 206hp@5000rpm. For its size, its very aerodynamic, and delivers a smooth ride. I have gotten mine up to 115 mph, and it stays smooth. The sound system it has is pretty good for a factory system. Everything in the engine is pretty easy to reach, except for the power steering fluid reservoir, which is located under the alternator, and behind the drive accessory belt. Haven't had any problems with it yet. Overall, an amazing automobile. I would recommend this car to anyone, from a 16 year olds first car, to an old man's last car. It has the perfect balance of everything! Similar Products Used: None |

Nice thight suspension, SUPER FAST exceleration, ICE COLD air and BLASTING HOT heat.....not to mention seats that match the comfort of my couch!!!
Weakness:
I have yet to find a weakness in this car.... I previously owned a 1990 Bonneville and I had no problems with it either.... I only had regular maintence done to it .... I would still be driving it today if I hadnt gotten into an accident and totaled it. I was in the market for a car and I needed one fast. I had rented bonnevilles before and I really liked the superior handling and style. Well let me tell you, If you can find you one of these babys at a good price, PICK IT UP!!!! The car not only handles like a Caddy but has the comfort of one as well. When I purchased the car, I proceeded to go on many road trips... Most where more than 500 miles each way. I have never incompessed a single problem. With all the traveling I do day in and day out, that should say novels of good things about this car. Great handling, good power, the heads up display, comfortable, solid and quiet ride, excellent brakes.
Weakness:
The memory for the 2 driver seat and mirror settings messes up occasionally but the dealer has ordered a new memory and driver seat motor. Shift modules from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd were out of spec from the factory but the dealer replaced those. This car would be perfect if it only was rear wheel drive!!!!! I loved it the minute I saw it. It hauls ass when the supercharger kicks in. It turns alot of heads wherever I go. The fighter pilot style heads up display is great. The new body style is fantastic. The On-Star system is the next best thing to having an onboard navigation system. I have been averaging 18 - 20 M.P.G.... even with the occasional full throttle adventures. I like the traction control system that will not allow the wheels to peel out. Similar Products Used: Compared the Cadillac Catera and the BMW 3 and 5 series before buying. I wasn't too impressed with the Catera, the BMW 3 series was too small and the BMW 5 series was too expensive. |

none major yet will let you soon well i have just put a little over 300 miles on my bonnie and let me tell you i love the power but i am a little afraid of the things i see and hear. Just for example i have heard a small nosie in the sterring colum and the wind noise is a litttle more than i think should be there. Similar Products Used: 1998 bonnie, 1999 bonnie both ok but get rid of them at 45k miles because seem to have the early warning signs of problems to come. i drive about 708 miles a week so can not play around with getting the cars fixed. |

Can't really think of a negative - I am a power hungry driver, so I am sure I would like more power. But one of the main reasons for choosing this car was the V6 engine. Recently off a long road trip (Washington, DC to Wrightsville Beach, NC and back)in all kinds of weather (including blinding rain) the Bonneville was extremely sure footed. The entire trip was very comfortable. Similar Products Used: Linclon Continental - Givenchy model |
