Strength:

Great Price, Great gas milage (30 average with auto with mixed driving), Sound system makes me wonder if the speakers are stock. 3rd door is a great idea. folding rear seat lets me fit my racing bike in the back without a hassle. Nice optional rims. Plastic pannels a lifesaver in a highschool parking lot. Traction control is primative but works. Sunroof is great.

Weakness:

Twitchy auto transmisson (shifts a lot), Stock tires blow, soft seats, performance could be better but hey its the cheapest saturn (SC1), touchy brakes, trunk looks it cost 3 dollars to cover.

Well this is my first car but I can say when comparing it to my parent's and family's cars it is a great little driver. My friends really like it even though it is an automatic. My only regret is not getting the DOHC engine in the sc2. The OHC in mine is great but with an auto the performance is anything but fast. If you drive alone get the power windows, trying to talk to people when you pull up along side is done through the sun roof because I can't safely reach the window lever (6'1"), all around this is a great buy and a great liitle car. My first car i buy will be a saturn.

Strength:

Looks - plastic door panels are ageless! Still looks great. Pep - Could use a little more power, but definitely good for a sports coupe. Handling - Happy with banking and ride. Milage - Still kicks butt: 35 mpg on the freeway, 32 overall. Reliability - a few problems but nothing serious. Road clearance - Not an SUV, but higher than a Honda! Can take off road if use common sense.

Weakness:

Interior Noise - a weak spot for Saturns. Engine has gotten noticably louder over time. Plastic doesn't appear to block noise as well as steel. Overall Refinement - decent car, but not as smooth as could have been. E.g., windsheild wipers are loud, seats don't go back far enough, no glove compartment light, etc. Comfort - Seats are simply unsat. Hurts lower back w/o extra support. Fabric is obviously of low quality.

This has been a nice little sports coupe, 111,000 miles in 5 years and still running like a charm! The fuel economy is great and the reliability has been better than most. I wouldn't say a Saturn is best in any category, but it seems to be a consistent performer. The plastic side panels have really held up nicely, esp. in these narrow California parking spaces where its inevidentable that someone will bang your doors in a parking lot. As far as repairs, I've repaired the following: - a motor mount (fairly inexpensive) - backlight sensor (covered under warrenty) - oxygen sensor and computer software upgrade to unlight "Check Engine" light - seat belt retracting device The dealerships are outstanding. They get you in and out quick, and are very straight up with you. You don't know how good they are till you go somewhere else and have to leave your car for 2 days to do a one hour job. Overall, I would strongly consider getting another Saturn.

Strength:

Polymer panels bomb proof engine many aftermarket parts light weight good gas mileage one of the safest compact cars third door (suicide on drivers side) great exterior styling

Weakness:

poor interior design not a lot of room in the back seat expensive to fix I've heard (which would be bad but I haven't had any problems) Factory hood paint had a tendancy to chip

It is a nice little car that gets good gas mileage. I would recommend it to anyone that wants some of the lowest insurance rates and wants a flashy car. There are many aftermarket upgrades if you like to tweak your car. I am 6'4" and it fits me fine in the drivers seat. I have upgraded the whole exhaust and some engine components as well as a carbon fiber hood. Saturn also offers their own line of performance upgrades! I would recommend the Manual Transmission because the Auto is kind of touchy.

Strength:

body style bang for your buck

Weakness:

If you treat it like a piece of crud, it will probably become one!

I find it interesting that while the Saturn SC is essentially the same car as the SL and SW, the average rating for the coupe is significantly lower. That might be partly due to the lack of interior space, but I think it has more to do with body style. The SC resembles a sports car, particularly the later models, and that encourages a different type of buyer- a more agressive driver- that someone who would buy a sedan or station wagon. Trouble is, Saturns weren't built to be driven like sports cars. I recently test drove 2 SCs including one which had 133K miles on it and stil ran perfectly, thanks to regular maintainance, and, I assume, normal driving. I have also heard nothing but positive reviews on Saturns from owners I know personally. I ultimately decided not to buy an SC because I couldn't find one in my price range, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one to anybody who isn't a speed demon. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

Strength:

appearance, fuel economy, low price, and it's easy to find things under the hood,

Weakness:

interior room, kids can fit in back seat but it's very uncomfortable for adults, and drivers over 6 ft. tall won't have enough room up front

Sporty looking car that has decent acceleration and gets very good gas mileage (30-33 miles to the gallon). Good sound system with in dash CD player standard, and fold down back seats make transporting large, bulky items easy.

Great body look, cute, sporty looking, handles good in rain, snow, and shine! I'm definately in the market to buy a new one!

Weakness:

Not very spacious in the back! but who cares, i'm in college and no kids! Sluggish acceleration, but test drove a 1997 SC2 and acclerated fast!

I loved my 94' Saturn SC1! It was very cute and my first sporty looking car! Although, I crashed it speeding around a bend, but it held up great on the passenger side(where it was hit by the cement barrier!) No injury to me! This car is great for single people and short people!

Strength:

Fuel economy, reliability, polymer panels, good handling, effective traction control/ABS (Canadian winters), simple controls, reasonable trunk

Weakness:

Bad OE tires, front seats don't work for tall people, small back seat, relatively high price.

This car is an amazing value. I probably bought it (2001 SC2) for its looks, but it is extremely fun to drive and is not insured at a harsh rate. Good for young people and singles, as the back seat is too tight for adults.

Plastic panels resist dings Air is fantastic

Weakness:

What can I say, I hate this car. For a 2.0 DOHC it has no power. This car had a serious skip under load which was fixed with a new ignition module but now the problem has resurfaced. I had a VW Scirocco 16V that was 10 times this car. The fit and finish of the vehicle is also sub par but I think this is typical for a GM product. It is an overpriced piece. This car is serviced properly and is driven gingerly, but the oil consumption is high and I am amazed at the lack in power. The plastic panels also do a poor job for cabin noise.

I have owned this car since new and I cant wait to get rid of it.
