Toyota Avalon (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

Tthe 2010 Toyota Avalon may still be the best value in its class. Inside its spacious cabin, the Avalon can feel like a luxury car. Its upscale interior and quiet, well-cushioned ride wouldn't be out of place in the Lexus lineup. The Avalon's up-front purchase price is also higher than some similar cars, but large car prices have been rising quickly in recent years, and its price tag no longer stands out much. The Avalon offers a lot for the money -- and is more reliable and fuel-efficient than many competitors, allowing buyers to recoup some of that cost.

All trims are equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 268-horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

Strength:

Good quality control. Responsive. Quieter than my 99 Cad. trade-in. Very comfortable ride. Was able to get my preference for cloth interior unlike Cadillac. Had 87 and 92 Cressida's which were the best cars I ever owned. So far, this car is measuring up to same standard. I will wait 12 months and review again. So far I love it.

Weakness:

I got basic radio. I would upgrade next time. Trunk closure sounds tinny. XL is stripped without upgrades as compared to similiar autos. Even Honda has electric seats and keyless entry in their LX as examples. To me, "plain jane" exterior styling.

$27,600 total. In my judgement you cannot get best deal in San Antonio. Buying services through my computer were not the greatest either unless you are inexperienced in negotiating hassles. No trade deals still way to go. Recommend trying for better pricing.

Strength:

I think this car has alot of space.

Weakness:

Sometimes the windows don't open too smoothly. And same with the doors.

all I have to say is that the car is great but I think a bit too expensive maybe like around $35000-$38000(cdn) is a good price but not over $40000.
But I like it!

Strength:

Powerful engine, roomy and comfortable interior

Weakness:

front end problems with car(clunking noise from front end especially when cold), numerous interior rattles, horrble factory tires

We paid 24,900 for our '98 Avalon XL after extreme negotiations. Many cheaper cars have more standard equipment such as keyless entry, alloy wheels, map lights, and a cd player (all of these either cost extra or aren't available on '98 XL). The car has really been a disapointment. Rear defogger doesn't work on one side and dealer says they can't find a problem, front end has a loud clunking noise, interior is a rattle trap, and the front tires need to be replaced at only 11,000 miles (less than 1/16 inch of tread left). Weather stipping on front door is wearing off from opening and closing. Looking back we would not have bought this car. A Honda Accord EX V-6 has almost as much interior room has a ton more standard eqiupment(moonroof, map lights, keyless entry, leather seats, cd player, fold down rear seat, rear seat map pockets) for almost $3000 less.

Strength:

awesome car overall (its basically a cheap lexusls400)
for the money that toyota sells this car at,they could have made the interior more up-scale.

Weakness:

the sound sys sucked till i got a BOSE SYS

$40,000 cdn ($27,000 us). i would recommend this car performance wise, however toyota needs to improve the looks inside. i own 3 lexuses and i tell you,the handling of this car is quite comparable.

Strength:

Roominess, Lexus-like quiteness/ride. Styling is much improved.

Weakness:

Stereo system could definitely use more PUNCH!!! I added a Subwoofer. It now cranks like I like it.

I paid $25,728 with the wheel/leather upgrade. I also ordered and installed the Italian burl walnut (from Exotic Wooddash) for $240. It looks beautiful, and much better than the synthetic garbage used in the XLS model. People keep telling me that it looks just like a Lexus.

Dodge Stratus and Lexus ES300. No comparison. The Avalon is like the Lexus as far as I'm concerned, and it has much more room.

very roomy comfortable ride good gas mileage excellent handling plenty of power for all driving conditions. We love the car and are considering the 2000 model.

Weakness:

wind noise. brake noises-when humid friction noise and clicking sound. clunking and rubbing noise when in reverse or parking. mechanics say they can find nothing.

96 xl gold package with 37,000 miles paid 18,500.00. I would strongly recommend this car over any american auto.

Strength:

Buttery smooth transmission, tons of interior room (no squished butts for 5 adults), great acceleration from a stop and at highway speeds, cavernous glove box & trunk.

Weakness:

Fairly average shape/style, factory leather is thin/flimsy, factory floor mats are flimsy, trunk mat doesn't fit right; "woodgrain" dash is so very plastic

Paid $31000 after much haggling and would definitely recommend it. The 1999 was the last year of this shape - the 2000 is slightly redesigned body. It's a great car (so far). I was delighted to find an XLS without a moonroof because I'm 6'1" and the moonroof took off too much headroom.

I thought about getting a used Lexus LS400 or MB E320, but would have had to get a 4-5 yr. old. I'm happy with the Avalon and have not had a single maintenance problem in nearly a year.

Big, powerful, quite interior. Exterior is a cross of a benz from the back and lexus from the front. Great price for the upper middle class who doesnt want to go all out on a luxury car.

Weakness:

Handling and braking could be better. Sound system is horrible.

Opted for XL leather from Longo Toyota, $25,035.

The quality, size, comfort, and power. I guess I hit everything that makes up a good car.

Weakness:

Radio is weak like the guy who owns the 97 stated, so I joined the bandwagon and installed a 150watt JBL and an Bandpass JBL 10's, a new Pioneer CD deck, and now it cranks!

This car rocks for a luxury mid size vehicle. It has more than enough power to get me to work on time when running late. It will easily cruise at 100 with room to go... and I shouldn't have to worry about breaking down since my last 2 toyotas required only wear and tear parts and oil changes to keep it going!!!!

Smooth, powerful engine, very roomy and comfortable interior.

Weakness:

Where to start?! Weatherstripping poor on drivers door--- brakes shot at 20000 miles---front suspension noisy when cold, handling inferior to my previous cars. Brakes clunk and bang when reversing direction, as in parking. The dealer says this is normal adjustment of the calipers.

This is a lease vehicle. Cap cost was $27500 on a sticker of $31000.
