Strength:

Reliability, comfort, performance, holding value, really everything.

Weakness:

Although well worth it, the price might scare off buyers for this class of auto.

I don't know if it really matters to post a review of a car that's almost 13 years old. I have an '87 manual 4 cyl w/ 200K miles. To be perfectly honest, I beat the crap out of this car. I drive it fast, pound the brakes, and take corners twice as fast as any midsize sedan should. The point is that this car takes it all and doesn't care. Whatever money you're going to spend on a car (below $25K), consider a Camry, you simply cannot go wrong. Everyone that drives my car thinks it drives like it's only five years old with 70K miles. Instead of spending $13,000 on a new car, why not buy a real car that's a few years old and have it for as long as you'd like. You'll save on the repair bills and, I promise, will fall in love with this car.

Model Reviewed: V6 XLE

Strength:

I am a 19 yr old student and this car is shared with 3 other family members! Boy is the vehicle ever so durable! So durable that at 47000Mi (74000km), it looks, feels, drives and is elegant enough to pass a Y2K model! very fast (0-60mph in 7.5-8.5 seconds.)

Weakness:

This nice riding (soft suspension) car does not have sports-car prowness but, it is a perfect all-round vehicle. Flaws include poor factory tires (Dunlop and General last maybe 30000-40000mi. Ironically, 4 cyl Camrys that have Michelins should last about 60000mi+, longer than the higher-priced V6 that has cheap tires. Too bad, the 1999/2000 CE has a better sounding radio with CD player (has better bass than our 6 speaker system) so, good value unless you go for the top model at MSRP and don't get a recognized branded audio system such as JBL, etc from Toyota. Warning: Base model with CD player sounds fabulous, sounds is excellent but, treble is not as good as 6 speaker system however, bass and radio/cd are astonishing.

Make sure you negotiate a good price or arrange for some kind of deal through a buying agency like Auto By Tel or what not. This vehicle is #1 for a reason, it seems to satisfy just about everybody's needs and lifestyles alike. Getting the V6 will put several cars such as certain BMW or Mercedes to shame. This car is assembled in the USA, only 20% of the Camrys are manufactured in Japan, what that means is, no duties and high quality since manufactured under Japanese specs, supporting the US economy. Not much more to say than this!!! It may seem at first that the car has been cheapened or decontented from the previous 1992-1996 generation of Camry but, the quality is still superfulous and unbeatable, no matter how hard you "abuse" the car. Abuse meaning unintentional mishaps such as full-throttle starts, hard braking, etc. Don't abuse it but, if you do abuse the car, it should prove its Japanese reliability at an almost American car price.

Strength:

Overall the car has been reliable and dependable. I selected the 4 banger and am satified with the horsepower and torque for decent gas milage.

Weakness:

I have had a few squeaks, but they were all solved by the dealership.

Like a lot of people, a little more horsepower would be nice. I put a bike roof rack on my car, and I noticed I
get pretty bad gas milage for that week.

In the past year I have been doing a lot of heavy commutting and put on a lot of miles, but still the car is just as reliable.

The only thing I miss from the Acura is the handling, I seem to squeal the tires accidently a lot =)

I test drove the Nissan Altima, and when I got the seat
adjusted the way I liked, my head was next to the roof and the visor in the upright position was sorta obstructing my view *shrug* But in the Camry I lowered the seat and that solved the problem.

Strength:

Comfy, reliable, fuel thrifty, low maintenance, nimble steering, roomy, decent braking ability,

Weakness:

cheap interior feel, the 4-cyl needs more punch, understeers heavily, boring look, somewhat more expensive than competitor

A perfect car for those looking for big, and very comfortable car. The car will last for a long time and give you no trouble.

Strength:

Car's structure is very strong and durable. Engine is reliable. Low maintenance. It's roomy for 4-5 people.

Weakness:

After having the car for 10 years, I have to check on the oil regularly.

I have had my first-owner Toyota Camry V6 for the past 10 years. It hasn't given me any major problems. The body of the car is very strong because the rubber bumper in the front/back of the car protects from damaging the car's body.
If I were to buy the next car, it would be a Toyota Camry V6 or any Toyota's products.

Strength:

Quiet engine, auto transmission rivals expensive luxury cars (no jerking when shifting), abs brakes, roomy, safe

Weakness:

Toyota sales people are pushy and rude. Front turn lights always fail (need changing).

I think this is a great car for the typical family or anyone who wants a safe comfortable car to drive around in. I prefer it over the accord. No regrets would buy again but online so I don't have to deal with the sales people.

Model Reviewed: Camry LE

Strength:

Outstanding fit and finish. Car is well insulated and quiet. One of the safest cars on the road. Outstanding features in the LE package such as a CD player and ABS brakes.

Weakness:

Stock tires provided by General Tire are substandard for a car of this class. Michelin tires should be standard. Toyota sales could be more professional.

For the money, there is no better car on the road than the Toyota Camry LE. Outstanding features, ride and quietness are that of a luxury car. Interior is well layed out and the air conditioning system is outstanding. Full service spare tire is a plus. Gas mileage is outstanding for this class of car. Toyota takes great pride in engineering a car such as the Camry which is probably one of the five top reliable cars of all time! This is a car that I would recommend highly to any family member or friend.

Accelerates fast. Runs smooths. It has a CD, FM/AM, airbags, powersteering, automatic.

Weakness:

The power for the driver to adjust the driver's seat, but the passenger has to manually adjust the passenger's seat. There's no light on both visors.

I just bought a new Toyota Camry LE 2000 this past weekend since my other car broke down. I have test driven this at the dealer and I am satisified with the product. I won't get the car until end of this week.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Camry XLE V6

Strength:

Responsive handling, adequate power, overall reliability

Weakness:

overpriced for what you get. brakes kinda suck. ran good until it hit 80,000 miles, in which time oil and exhaust leaks developed. at 90,000mi performance has dropped dramatically, and egine sensors have gone bad, resulting in an extremely rough idle, and low power.

I would not buy another Toyota product because of price and maintenance and reliability concerns. Generally feel that the car wasnt worth what I paid for it. All Toyotas in general are extremely overpriced. For that kind of money you can get something a lot better. I would not recommend a toyota to anyone.
