Strength:

Comfortable quiet ride. Buy the 4 cylinder. They are cheaper to have worked on all around. It has plenty of power...no problem.

Weakness:

Front Brakes.

This has been the best car I have ever owned. I always but my cars new. Usually bought F O R D (Fix Or Repair Daily). This car has never had a problem. I do the usual maintenience on it as perscribed by Toyota. Take care of it. I am single and needed a dependable car that would last a while for me. It is so doing just that.

Strength:

Power train, quiet interior, solid feeling, full-size spare tire, cassette/CD, powerful A/C, big trunk, intuitive controls/displays, Toyota reputation/reliability.

Weakness:

Light steering, blind spots, and the speakers are the absolute WORST. The dealership was very misleading about the JBL speakers being included in the ABS package.

Drives like butter--smooth ride, feels very solid and the 4-cylinder is adequate for my commute. My old car was a '92 Prizm. The Camry feels like a limo by comparison.

I test drove an Accord but thought it felt cheap. Also drove a friend's VW Golf 1.8T which I liked a lot but my wife wanted a bigger back seat. Also, VWs aren't as reliable as Toyoya.

Model Reviewed: CV30 Diesel Camry, 2L intercooled turbodiesel-2CT

Strength:

Fuel economy
Get up & go (when compared with other diesels)
Comfortable & quiet (for a diesel, there's extensive sound deadening)
Appears like it would hold up ok in a crash

Weakness:

Standard brakes
Standard front suspension
Removal of oil filter (being picky, but there's a few cables, engine mounts & cross members that get in the way when trying to remove it)

For a Diesel vehicle, this goes really well. It's cheaper to run than a 1.3L Corolla & it can do 200km/hr, just. At 100km/hr it's doing about 2300rpm in 5th. Further details & pic's at

Model Reviewed: LE 2 door coupe

Strength:

Looks. Reliablity. Smooth operation. Stereo!!!

Weakness:

Would love larger tires and rims.205/60x15 fit fine, but back fenders won't hold much more.

Feel in love with the car as soon as wife and I saw it on the lot. I wanted a 6 cylinder, but this one had all the other options I wanted. Leather(power seats),Am/Fm,cass and C.D. with 6 speakers. It really cranks!! Security system and wood grain on the dash. After driving it, the 4 banger has all the power I need. Never pull a trailer or boat. The engine and ride are as smooth as any expensive ride.
After market rims made it look better. Oil is changed by Toy.ever 3k mile and trans fluid at 18k.Still runs like new with 70k on the odometer. The 2 door coupes are rare. Would love to put it up as a collectable one day. But will drive 200k mile or more.

Strength:

Very well made car that doesn't leak fluids like domestic models do.

Weakness:

Very weak dome light, radio doesn't light up or have time display.

Good, solid body shape, roomy interior (I'm 6'3") and I actually have a little headroom for a change, good visibility all around, all in all the Camry is a car that inspires confidence on the road.

Strength:

Love the sunroof, and leather. the v6 is powerful, but still lacks compared the Malibu, and Taurus.

Weakness:

Where to began?.....First of all let me tell you, Cavender Toyota is San Antonio needs to get there act together and hire new service agents! I bought my 2000 Carmy in late 1999, since then I have but 26k miles on her. This car has been in the service department more than my drive way! At 9k miles, when I took it in for a oil change, they gave me this crap about a sludge forming, almost like mud, and that it was would cause my lifts and value to prematurly give out. I did not take there word for it, since not even a AMERICAN would do that so early. Last month check engine light came on for no reason, along with the ABS light. Problems with sunroof not closing. But the biggest problem of all happened last week!........I WAS DRIVE FROM AUSTIN TO SAN ANTONIO WHICH IS A 78 MILE DRIVE, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR DIES IN TRAFFIC ON IH-35 ABOUT 30 MILES WAY FROM MY HOUSE. SO AS I WAS TRYING TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SIDE SO THAT NO ONE WOULD HIT ME OR CAUSE A ACCIDENT I MANAGED! WE HAD TO CLIMB THE MEDIAN OF THE HIGHWAY TO GET TO WHERE THEIR WAS A PHONE, LUCKLY THERE IN THAT TOWN RIGHT ACROSS THE HIGHWAY WAS BLUEBONNET MOTORS(FORD DEALER). WE CALLED AND TOYOTA SEND A TOW TRUCK, SINCE IN THE SMALL TOWNS AROUND SAN ANTONIOM I GUESS THEY DONT BELIEVE IN TOYOTA'S OR HONDA'S. THE TOW DRIVER SAID THAT THIS CAR WAS GONE!!!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED WAS THAT THE TIMING BELT SNAPPED, THANK GOD IT STILL UNDER WARRNTY! BEFORE THAT RUNS OUT WE ARE GOING TO GET RIDE OF THE CAMRY.....WE ARE LOOKING AT THE TAURUS AND MALIBU'S....which are rated better!.........PLEASE DONT BUT ANY 99-01 CAMRY...STAY WAY!!!!!!!

If I can rewind time, I would have never bought this car! The only reason why I bought it was that comsumer reports rated it well, But nothing but problems I have been having.......I SHOULD STAY WITH AMERICAN CARS NEXT TIME......ATLEAST THEY GET ME AROUND!

Strength:

Great quality and very economical to operate.
Cheap parts, insurance, maintenance service, greate mileage (about
30 miles/gallon overall)

Weakness:

2.0 inline 4 is not strong enough for lots of stop and go traffic.
Some rattles but not too bad.
Car is too light and bit small and can be an issue if involved in an
accident.

Had this car over 11 years and it still runs the same as the day
I bought this car off the dealer. I had one problem with air-conditioning
on my 2nd year and no other problems since then.
Very economical to operate and maintain.

Strength:

Reliability, dependability, durability, SAFETY. - extremely rigid chassis that is designed to resist intrusion VERY WELL.

Weakness:

Weak rear cupholder.. thats it.

Where to begin? First of all, all of you people with sludge problems... one word for you = Maintainence... this particular 3.0 Litre Dual-Overhead-Cam V6 (1mz-fe) has a strong reputation for it's durability. I believe that people have this notion in their head that Toyota's are bulletproof... and yes that is true to some extent... it is only true providing you change your oil. If you maintain this engine properly, it will surpass your expectations on what a perfect engine should be. I used to have experience with a 4 cylinder 99' Camry, and it was extremely well-built, drove great, even after being driven hard for 80 thousand miles... with a Camry, this comes as no suprise... Toyota engineers their vehicles extremely well, and I know without a doubt that nobody surpasses Toyota's overall excellence in the industry.

Model Reviewed: Camry CE

Strength:

comfort, reliability, gas mileage, fairly loaded with power windows, locks, mirrors, am/fm/tape/cd for a cheap price.

Weakness:

stock tires/rims were garbage we replaced them with 16" aftermarket wheels and 215/60/16 tires and it made a tremendous difference in ride/handling. Stock stereo was weak but the deck is excellent, we replaced all the inside speakers with high end Infinity speakers added a 600w amplifier to the stock stereo and a single 12" sub and it sounds incredible<- all for about $550

My wife and I bought our 5 speed 4 cyl '00 Camry new and have accumulated 25,000 miles without one problem whatsoever (and we drive hard) so it surprises me that so many seem to have had multiple problems. I feel that this car is one hell of a deal, it is fairly comfortable and drives great (much nicer than the automatic version). We get excellent mpg and it is actually a very fun car to drive with the 5 speed. Friends of ours have a '00 LE automatic and it is just plain boring in comparison. All in all, even though it's not the quickest Camry or highest model it is probably one of the best ones to own, few minor glitches can easily be fixed with aftermarket stuff.

Similar Products Used:

94 Camry LE v-6 <-great car but grew to hate the green/tan color combo, much quicker than current Camry but still not as fun to drive and felt less roomy. 95 Dodge Avenger- piece of junk all the rest of the cars we own/owned are of the musclecar variety and are not comparable.
