Strength:

-Styling (love the car) -Reliability -Bulletproof engine -Comfortable for me (and I'm a big guy) -Moderately large trunk -Pretty peppy little car

Weakness:

-A/C Recall -Weak Trunk Hinges -Weak Power Antenna -Going uphill is a battle -Auto tranny shifts a little hard

Well, what can I say. I've had 'er for 6 months and not a single problem yet. *knock on wood* I got it at 86,000 miles, and so far it's ran great. The only things I've fixed were things the dealer even told me would need fixing. I replaced the spark plug wires, put new tires on 'er, and that's it. I'm in the process of modifying it a little bit, but I haven't did anything major It's a peppy little car, my neighbor, an RX-7 owner said it was faster than he thought.

Strength:

-Reliablity -1/4 mile time -Handling (one of the best) -top speed of 130 -gas mileage -everything else -just a great all around car for a 87

Weakness:

-nothing -nothing -nothing

I bought this 87 celica GTS from a old lady sometime in summer 2000.....The car has been parked in her garage for 8 years or so.....it had 13,000 miles on it (original).....Her husband past away and left it there so i got it for 350 bucks! It is in mint condition, RED, and nothing at all was wrong with it besides dust and spider webs... From the first day that i bought it the thing started right up!!!....it was amazing, i took it for a test run around the block and the little four MOVED....It chirped second gear real hard...After signing all the papers it was time to take her home....As i approached the highway i basically drove real slow in 5th gear listning for any vibrations or anything suspicious...when i decided that nothing was wrong i ripped it....I geared straight down to 3rd and took it to about 90..then fourth to about 115.....i didnt want to go fifth since it was a little busy....The thing pulls hard all the way...The 3SGE motor that i have is a twincam 2.0 liter 140 hp stock. Currently.. As for suspension I have Eibach Springs with gabriel shocks...Nice 1.5" drop. Motor wise i have a KandN cone filter which you feel at around 3500 rpm and a gutted cat, removed A/C (dont need it), removed P/S (dont need it).....thats about it performance wise... I took it to the track at english town this summer and got some good results! The first run i did was with everything in tact and managed a 15.8@91 mph with 90 degree weather....I also did not get any traction since i went through the water box by mistake...Not bad for a stock car..But that was not enough for me so i gutted the thing...first i removed the complete exhaust,I took out the front seat, rear panels and seats, spare tire and went back to run this time not going through the water box and actually managed a 14.9@94 mph......I think the reason i cut almost a whole second is because i did not go through the water box,I featherd off the clutch and with all the removed parts it was pretty light....Also the intake and the removed exhaust prob gave me around 8 hp....Anyway, besides all the racing that i do with the car it sure is reliable....I feel sorry for people that spend 20,000 on new celicas and get there buts wipped by mine....my friend should know what im talkin about....***Also, the mileage currently is 21,000 miles!!!!

No torque.

I have had this car since new. And its definitely a good car at this stage of my life (23). Mods so far 18s dropped 2", AEM cold air intake, ACT clutch, Fidanza flywheel other misc mods. The car hasn`t got brute power, but after the mods its definitely nippy. Key strengths are handling and looks.I still look back at it after parking. Planning on adding a turbo. To get some real power at the wheels. Had no real problems, except the clutch giving out on me. way to weak for a car that only comes alive after 5 thousand revs. The engine is ascreamer but it is no type r engine. The dealers are terrible, service have given me nothing problems. Not jus Bill wright dealer but others as well.It seems the bumper to bumper warranty is only good for the minor inconsequential issues...sometimes.

Strength:

stereo, low drag, gearbox gets most of the power to the ground

Weakness:

the gearbox is a little stiff, it is hard to stay in your power-band when shifting from first to second gear

I love my Celica I have had no real problems with the car. I have added a TRD Exhaust, Injen short ram intake, TRD springs, and an octane front cap. I have driven this car for over a year and I still can't believe it has so much power. This car is almost totally perfect.

gas millage 35-40 mpg highway 25mpg city

Weakness:

must have the premium gas or it can not pull the hills well. The difference is so much that you must have the premium gas. It is also very low to the ground so you have to slow before going over bumps.

This is the best car I have ever had. I have 151,000 miles on it. It has only had a few problems and mostly with the dealer trying to over charge or add things it did not need but they never hurt the car and everything has worked well. At around 75k or so I had though it was time to get a new car but I put 90,000 mile all weather michelin tires on it and it was fine. I wore the tires out in 50,000 miles and put another 4 michelins on it. It drives great but the AC when out at 115000 so it has been hard in a hot place since then. I think the water for the windows went out at 120,000. Even with 151,000 it still drives good but it is time for a new car.

I have clear taillights and corner lights, cold air intake, TRD clutch kit, chrome shifter knob, s2000 antenna, with much more to come!! Rarely had any problems such as the paint chips easily, cd player skips a little in the winter, has alot of torque steer, and thats about it!

Paint Potentially deadly acclerator problem, see review summary

Potential Deadly Accelerator Problem With 2001 Toyota Celica I purchased a 2001 Toyota Celica GT-S with the Automatic Transmission on May 15, 2001 and have had nothing but problems with it from the beginning. The major accelerator problem they cannot seem to fix, the other paint problems got fixed, but I had to fight it out with Toyota to even get any action taken for the paint. The Problem: In the beginning I was having intermittent no accelerator when attempt to cross traffic pulling out of shopping centers, etc., but the hotter the weather got the worse it would get. I brought it in to Kay Jennings Springfield Toyota, they drove it, and said they could find nothing wrong with it. Then the weather got cooler and it was fine, but then this summer the problem came back in full force and I find a time when it does it consistently (see does your have this problem), sometimes it would take almost a couple of minutes before I even had any accelerator. I called Toyota and they logged the complaint and had me bring the car in, I took it back in and they replaced the ECU, but this did not fix the problem. I took it back in again and left the car with them for almost a month, not only did the not fix the problem (even receiving assistance from Toyota’s Technical Advisory), only the Service Manager Bill Banta got it to act up on him once (so they say). Upon picking the vehicle up I was told by the Service Advisor that Toyota did not know what else to do and I would just have to take the car (This is like bringing a car in with no brakes and having them say you still have no brakes but go ahead and drive it). I contacted Toyota again and explained that this is a dangerous vehicle and if they cannot fix the problem they need to give me a new car, and not another Celica, because the Service Advisor told me they have another one with the same problem. After I picked it up the next day the problem was still there, the next day was supposed to be the same type weather, and I had some from work try it and it happened to them. Does Your Celica Have This Problem: I tried a number of different things to see when it would do it consistently and I have found the way to test your vehicle. First, it must be a hot day (above 85) and the more humid it is the better. Second, drive it to work like you normally would, back the car into a parking space that you can drive strai

Had problems with the fuel injection system, and had electrical problems, too. Not roomy enough, but what can you expect from a small car?

I've had this car over 5 years, and have totally loved it! Hands down, this has been the best car I've ever had, and will never get rid of her. She's fast and fun and reliable.

Quick get up and go, nice exterior, cozy interior & I love my sunroof!

Weakness:

The cd player skips, paint chips easily, cheesy plastic inside, quite small backseat (but I'm never in the back, so I don't care), and the minor problems I listed above

I have a 6 spd manual, and it has a pretty quick pick up. When it hits 6000 RPM, it really takes off. I do feel too low to the ground though when I drive, and I've had many close calls because big trucks and semis can't see me when they change lanes. I've had the clutch petal cover come off once, which was almost impossible to get back on, the leather around my stick shift has detached from the console, and when I go through a car wash, the windows leak at the top, and my headlights fog up with water in them. Those have all been minor though.
