base model 5spd
Strength:
Engine - a lot faster than you might think.
Weakness:
back seat could be a teensy bit bigger. A great car! It's fast (with the 5 spd) gets amazing mileage, well built, feels solid. Everything about it makes it seem like a more expensive car. Similar Products Used: 1999 cavalier - crap |

Strength:
Good mileage. I hardly put gas.
Weakness:
The air conditioning and the lights suck on it! The biggest thing is that it is not a very attractive car it's pretty ugly. I really felt that it was a good investment if you are a comuter. This car has not given me any problems in the 3 years I have had it. Similar Products Used: It is way more comfortable than an Acura Integra. They are way too small in the back and the Corolla gives you much more room. |

Strength:
Quiet; very good gas mileage; good handling, specifically very good power steering!
Weakness:
Needs about 100 more hp, but it still has enough to beat a naked eclipse 90-98. Perfect car for city driving. If you are not fat, like some people above, you will be more than comfortable sitting in it. Similar Products Used: Mitsubishi Eclipse 94; The corolla is 100 times better in every aspect! |

Strength:
Reliability, good looks, comfort.
Weakness:
If I wanted to be really picky I'd say that the Venetian Red color really shows dings. If you need to transport a lot of stuff, you'll need something bigger, but that said, the trunk is generously sized. Pinch me please! This car has it all...it looks great, is incredibly dependable, and has all of the features that I need to transport my family comfortably and safely. The gas mileage is excellent. We purchased this car 1 1/2 years ago and have not had a single problem or recall. It is just what this travel-happy family of three needed. We have not found a child safety seat that does not fit well in this car, which is a big plus these days! Reversible seatbelts make installation a breeze. Kudos to Toyota for an outstanding product! Similar Products Used: 1992 Plymouth Sundance...it's like apples and oranges. I'm fairly certain that my Corolla won't start peeling paint in a few years.... |

Strength:
RELIABLE!!! This car does not die.
Weakness:
Weak heater/AC and defroster. Avoid loud Rap music with these baby speakers. Skimpy on leg room in back seat. Not classy looking but it's not a '78 Country Squire Wagon with fake wood siding either. I love my Corolla. I loved the corolla I had in high school. (Sold it for $500 with 300k miles on it!) For a single mom this thing can't be beat. I never have to worry about its rialiability. It always starts no problems even in January when I'm running late. The kids put A LOT of wear and tear on it and the interior is still decent. Mine has 167k and brakes and tires are the only types of repairs it's needed. Handles great in the snow, wind or rain. Doesn't have a lot of get up and go on a hill. Easy to find parts for and mechanics to work on it when it is necessary (as opposed to Honda). Living in Ohio with the salty winters, the body will fall apart long before the engine dies. And maybe if I washed the thing once in a while that wouldn't be as much of an issue . . . Similar Products Used: '78 Corolla, '79 Fairmont, '89 Geo Metro |

Strength:
It takes a licken and keeps on ticken... Great gas mileage!
Weakness:
After about 10 years on the 91' model the radio stops working. That is probably not a big issue though because the speakers more than likely have been blown for some time before the radio goes. Not the fastest thing in the world, actually I have been passed a couple of times by slow moving pedestrians. I like my car, have not been able to sell it actually. It is just not even an option. One Fraturnity boy, a new driver (my sister), and one new male driver (myself) have driven this car and it is still running. No major repairs have been made to the car although there have been countless minor wrecks with other cars and yes even some stationary objects. The car will probably make it to at least 200K before anything stops working. No, it might not look the coolest or go the fastest but it is still a wonderful car and I can't sell it after it has lasted so well. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Toyota Camry |

Looks Great
Weakness:
Just back seat, but for little people like me it's comfy Love this car. My family and I own all toyota's. just the brand itself is great. I loved the 1999 Corolla, and the 2001 is even better. No problems whatsoever. runs like new all the time, and never ever has false started on me. ran well in the winter when it froze over, and handles beautifully. hits the corners well, hits the 70 mph speed limit faster than expected. love the sports version interior, and steering wheel is great. Gas mileage is wonderful, i have to drive an hour to work and boy does this baby handle the gas well. this is an awesome buy, go for it. no other compact car compares to it for the same price. :) Similar Products Used: Civics- loved the Corolla better, felt more comfortable. |

Strength:
Extremely reliable, good pickup, great on gas, very roomy interior (fits my 6'7" fiance with room to spare).
Weakness:
Looks (rust) and the brakes thump from a warped rotor. This car has lasted us 2 1/2 years, and it just passed its second provincial emissions test with ease. For such an old car we have had very little maintenance to do. New tires last fall, and had to replace a cracked brake disc (likely eroded from rust). That is it! Even the sunroof and air conditioning still work. Similar Products Used: More reliable than 87 Tercel (exhaust & engine trouble), but not as peppy as 89 Tercel. As reliable as my 86 Olds Cutlass Supreme. |

Corolla SR-5 Coupe
Strength:
Reliability, built quality, ergonomics, great dashboard design, comfortable steering wheel, overall design, low profile, comfortable seats and lumbar support, good interior and trunk room.
Weakness:
SMALL: engine, wheels and tires. Not so great paint. Stereo a bit too big and original speakers don't live up to today's music. A REALLY reliable car that is VERY enjoyable to drive! The exterior and interior design are simple yet elegant with a slight hint at sportiness. Handles better than you would expect from a car that is a '89 and of a sport-economy class. Similar Products Used: This is my first car and even though I drove a whole bunch of others, this one has some charm to it. You can't resist "falling in love" with it! |
