Strength:

good gas mileage, very reliable, nice looking exterior, power windows and power locks

Weakness:

cheap interior, factory sounds system stinks, cheap looking wheels, small interior, not very comfortable.

It is a good car and very reliable. Mine is only 4 years old and has over 100,000 miles on it with nothing ever to fix. This is a good car for those just starting a family. The interior is kind of small, uncomfortable for 5 to fit. Good gas mileage.

Strength:

The engine doesn't burn any oil with proper oil and filter changes. It's still fairly easy to drive and is great for students. Visibility is good on all sides. Starts easy in any weather.

Weakness:

Body is getting worn and makes noises. Weather seals around doors had to be replaced. Not very good acceleration (even when new 12 yrs ago). It's sluggish. Blower motor on heater/A/C needs work.
Seems to go through batteries a lot.

This is a great little car for the time I've had it. No major problems or repairs yet. Engine seems to go on and on and on...
The body seems to get run down with age and there are the usual body noises, but the engine has over 135,000 miles on it and is still going strong!
Seems to have outlasted other vehicles!

Model Reviewed: Corolla LE

Strength:

Quality of material used
Engine performs well at highway speed with a full load
Level of equipment (based on 2000 models)
Toyota reputation
Radio and HVAC are easy to use

Weakness:

Rear legroom is small compared to competitors
A little expensive (MSRP) for the LE model
Larger tyres needed
Despite my comment on equipment, a few more extras would be nice - standard 6-disc CD Changer,ABS or map lights
Ergonomic conflict when trying to use the front cupholders, storage bin and power outlet at the same time

*Note that I converted CDN$ to US$ using 1.49.
So far, the car performed well. The Canadian versions seem to have little problems compared to the US counterparts. Downtown Toyota gives great deals because it's family owned. Our previous experience with a 1997 Corolla DX 1.6 led us to purchase the 2000 Corolla LE. It's a good city car and for families with small children. Otherwise, get a Camry

Former Corolla owner

Strength:

Excellent reliability

Weakness:

No flash, No power, interior cheap. expensive for what you get

I have to say that the Corolla is one reliable car. I owned a 1999 VE for 2 yrs and put over 50k miles on it with no trouble. The interior is cheap and I couldn't believe that intermittant wipers weren't standard. The seats were a bit stiff and uncomfortable and the Accelaration with the 3 spd Auto was pretty pathetic. I recentley traded mine in for an 01' Altima SE loaded because I wanted something with more power and with more goodies inside. Overall the Corolla is a purely a commuters Car with borderline power and little else. I'm happy with the Altima.

Strength:

All wheel drive, 30-35 MPG, reliabiliy, great in snow.

Weakness:

Didn't resist rust well. Because it was assembled in Japan, parts were sometimes difficult.

This was the most satisfiying vehicle I have owned. It is a beast in the snow. It was driven, without trouble in snow up to the headlights. The same snow storm "hung up" my Toyota pickup. It handles great under all driving conditions. It has good power for an engine of its size (even better after some minor modificaitons.) I was given this car by a family member who felt it had no value at 72,000 mi. In just over three years, my wife and I have put over 110,000 mi on this car. Much of it fully, if not overloaded. With 30+ MPG, all wheel drive handleing, and famous quality, its a shame that Toyota stopped making these.

Other than cargo and road visibility preferred to AWD Aerostar or Totota PU. I'd take one any day over a Subaru or Camry.

Top speed.

Fuel Consumption.

Weakness:

Leg room in the back could be better.

This car is excellent. Looks very stylish, has great options package and drives like a charm. The fuel consumption is unbelievable, 31 mpg on the streets and 41 mpg on the highway. The handling is very smooth, acceleration is great and the top speed i managed to get was around 115, and i could've went further, just didn't want to because there was still only around 900 miles on it. I highly recommend this car to anyone.
