Strength:

Very refined through the years, wonderful ride and handling.

Weakness:

Engine is a bit "buzzy" at higher RPM's.

Still an excellent value for the money, you can't wear out one of these cars!

Strength:

No major repairs as of yet...It still gets me where I want to go. I've had this car for 5 years and it still looks just as good as the day I bought it.

Weakness:

The car has only 60 horsepower, but this is an undersized car with an underpowered engine so I guess that works out.

I am more of an environmentalist, and until I can afford the new Prius or get an EV I'll be OK here. To all of you out there, the new corolla engines (95-01) are the best yet.

Model Reviewed: Corolla 4 door automatic

Strength:

1. Reliability, it never broke down.
2. Price, as new with demo miles.
3. Resale, sold it for $3500.00 after 8 yrs & over 100K miles.
4. For a little car it was really tough.
5. Factory warranty carried over to second owner (myself).
6. Easy to maintain.

Weakness:

None, its a small car so you get what comes with a small car. We moved up to a new Camry.

Maintenance tip - If your starter fails, then you may just have to replace the copper "L" shaped contacts only. You do not need to remove or replace the starter to do this.

Corollas are economical little tanks that are worth the money. I do not know about the new ones, but I would recommend based on my experience with the 1990 and the new Camry.

Got married and decided to save money, buy a house, have a family ... so I sold my BMW (a money pit) and got the Corolla. It worked out as planned.

Strength:

Very reliable, good handling, good gas mileage, pretty inexpensive to maintain, very very few problems with it. Quite comfy.

Weakness:

A little too comfy, but it's a compact -- what do you expect?

It's a Toyota. Period. Won't leave you stranded somewhere on the road. I've had it for 6 1/2 years and very few problems. Some minor maintainence but runs perfectly!

Strength:

This has been a VERY reliable car. Very quiet, smooth running engine and
excellent gas mileage. Unfortunately, this is where the strengths end...

Weakness:

The car has a very cheap looking interior. Too much use of hard plastic
makes it look rather "toyess". Extremely uncomfortable front seats. Soft,
mushy suspension. Weak handling around corners..way too much body lean.

This great is great for just your basic transportation of going from A to
B for short distances, but thats it! My lease is up soon on this car and
im not even considering another Corolla again. Test drive the new 2001
Sentra GXE with the luxury package and you will absolutely FALL IN LOVE
with this car! How can Corolla possibly compete with this car?!! They
cant!

Strength:

Looks great, runs great, and is really comfortable, however the back seats are not for heavy set or tall people

Weakness:

Small engine, 1.6l 4cyld. engine.
I put 1000 into the engine when i bought it, between belts, tires rods, ect.

Overall this is a great car. Im a new driver, and my parents wanted me to get a reliable car(toyota), and i wanted a sporty looking car. So this car was perfect. It looks sporty, and sits low to the ground. I tinted the windows, and put rims, and a new exhaust on it. I recommend this car to everyone looking for a reliable , fun looking car.

Strength:

great gas mileage,reliable,

Weakness:

it rusts all over, audio system very bad, no after market parts, not fast enough

the car has been very good my only complaint is how much rust is on the car. but most white corollas have the same problem. i wish there were more after market parts but it is a good all around car for a family or some one in school.

paint job, mine looks brand new ive wax it so many times tho, people probly think i got a new paint job. Also can take minor dings,Had a dodge ram park next to me and nudged my door and my whole side of the car left the ground but only had a plastic mark, engine holds up, interior , the only thing gone wrong with the engine is nothing on mine, as long as you do the basic maintance nothing will go wrong. My car runs like its new and has 171k miles on it, it will hit 200k and keep going!!!

Weakness:

cheap door handles, needs little more leg room in the back ,could have tooken trunk room away and added it to the back seats.

mine 91 looks like a rice rocket cant wait intill i get the 4a-ge engine that is the upgrade, the block was made for more strane, Can get at least 200hp out of the engine.

NOT SATISFIED!
1. Toyota Quality craftsmanship is not present with this model.
2. Cheap American made plastic interior parts, lots of rattles.
3. Uncomfortable seats, should be more adjustable, need more leg support.
4. Unexpected gas mileage on automatic trans, 21mpg-280 miles per tank.
5. Bad Goodyear tires, wobble though car is balanced and aligned.
6. Faulty car alarm, goes off when untouched. -not set too sensative-
7. Headlights should turn off when parked. To sit parked with the lights out you have to turn car off, and turn it back on with the parking brake remaining engaged for them not to activate. Rediculous nuissance to mess with, just to keep the lights from shinning on other people!!

As long as Toyota does not put all Japanese parts in this car I would not buy it because this is NOT the Toyota quality that they advertise! They have cut corners with the 2001 corolla and its inferior as a result!
