turning these tries suck they are large but need more width in them to improve handling i bought this car 8 months ago. I have been in one car accident and so far its in good shape. it has 27000 miles on it and no major problems. My door rattles, maybe b/c of accident and engine has gotten stronger as it has aged like a fine wine. It used to get 30mpg and now i get 35 mpg or more. WOW more MPG and power. I also use at least 89 octane gas no 87. when i use 87 i drives badly and catches speed slowly. Sometimes when th ewindows are up i feel like sleeping is soo quite at times b/c of toyo's insulation sysytem Similar Products Used: civic-a piece a crap, have 255,000 miles on my old one but it has no power |

Gas Mileage reliability attractive appearance
Weakness:
none except a little unstable when windy I have had my Corolla for 8 months now and really enjoy it! I am a college student and value the great gas mileage. It has enough acceleration on the highway to pass people and a comfortable ride. Compared to some of the other vehicles I've owned it appears to be the most reliable. I don't have this rotten egg smell that everyone seems to mention in other reviews. My car actually still has a pleasant new car smell. Similar Products Used: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire |

Strength:
-- general feeling of reliability -- peppy; nimble in city driving -- relatively comfortable for a small car -- lasts for years and years
Weakness:
-- gas mileage not fabulous for a relatively small economy car (only 25-30 mpg, when it really should be around 40) -- design flaw with the muffler and with the automatic shift in drive at a red-light -- poor performance on the highway (shakes above 70 mph, doesn't go above 75) -- too practical maybe; not a fun car If you're looking to buy a good, cheap used car, please read this review. Hopefully I can dispel a few myths about the Toyota Corolla for you, which is a car normally known as the definition of a practical car. First of all, my Corolla has not been perfect throughout the years. My dad was the original owner of the car, and I've had it for the last 4 years. While the reliability lives up to its reputation mostly, it is a myth that nothing can be chronically problematic with it. The muffler was placed too low to the ground in its inherent design, and for that reason I've gone through several mufflers in its lifetime. The alignment is also off for some reason, and mechanics have told me that the problem has no way of being fixed. We've had the brakes repaired before a few times, and I'm going to have to get them repaired again soon. Another annoying problem with the car is the automatic engine. Whenever I come to a stop, I need to shift it into neutral. Otherwise, I feel a strong pull. It seems almost as if the car were really just meant to be a stick-shift, which would make more sense anyway since it's an economy car. The seatbelts also come in two parts. There's one attached to the door, and then there's a lap-belt. Every time a guest sits in my passenger seat, I have to give him/her a lengthy explanation of how to use the seatbelt. Furthermore, the seatbelt often causes the door to pull closed, which has lead me to lock the keys in the car before and is just annoying in general. In addition to that, the speedometer has broken before, which shouldn't ever malfunction. Above 70 mph on the highway the noise level is very loud, and the car begins to shake. I'm afraid to bring it above 75 mph and am afraid to at all in case something bad might happen. I also don't think that the gas mileage is as fabulous as everyone else claims it is supposed to be. I get 25-30 mpg, which really isn't that efficient being that it's a small, economy car. It should really be getting over 40 mpg, in my opinion. The radio speakers also rattle. Now that the car is getting older, the design really looks tacky, and I'm often embarassed to admit to others that it's my car. Onto the good points: it's already 11-12 years old with about 150,000 miles on it, and it still has a lot of life left in it. While a number of things have needed repair, it has never broken down on me and left me stranded. Driving the Corolla makes me feel as if I will always get to my destination no matter what, which is basically what a car is for anyway: getting from point A to point B. This is what everyone is talking about when they mean Toyota Corolla reliability. While highway driving is lacking, it's really ideal in city driving. It has lots of pep and is very responsive. It's great for parallel parking. It feels as if the car were designed to drive in crowded Japanese cities. I also live in Baltimore, so I'm never afraid to park it on the street in a bad neighborhood. The paint job and interior have held up well despite its relative old age. Although it doesn't have a high-powered sound-system, the radio gets great reception. Despite being a relatively small car, I am 6'1", and feel very comfortable. I could even move the seat back more if I needed to. Four adults can fit relatively comfortably in it, too. If you don't have a lot of money, this car is ideal. Weakness:
Acceleration could be better, sporty model should offer bigger engine. We traded in the 96 explorer for a newer much more reliable car, and thats what we got. The new sporty Corolla S is a efficient, fun to drive car. We went from about 13 MPG in city to around 32. The glowing gauges are a pretty nice feature to that lights up bright in the dark. Sun visor hits rear view mirror. I am greatly sastified with my 2001 Toyota Corolla Le, I bought the car brand-new, I have done all of my service intervals on time 5000, 15000, 30,000 etc, and the car has never given me a problem. Currently I have 40,000 miles on it. Toyota's are die-hard cars, what has really impressed me is that, at 40,000 miles the brake pads are still looking brand-new the dealer said. I have ABS only on the front wheels. Also the car is excellent on gas, and rides very smooth, with no outside noise you can listen to your music and it's like your in your own world. I have "4"friends that always ride with me and everyone fits comfortably, I love my 2001 Corolla, Le and I am in my early 20's. If you want relaibility, amd more miles with less problems buy a Corolla!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: 1990 Corolla |

funny left foot rest in driver's seat ugly sounding horn (not worth crying over, really) This was the first car I ever bought, being a high school student. I bought it in Spetember of 2003, and already I've put more than 600 miles on it in October. That's a lot, considering the vehicle had 265,000 plus miles when I bought it. It has the 1.8 liter 4 cylinder with the overdrive automatic, and it still has a lot of get up and go. I'm also getting 35 mpg with it, all city! It's great when I go to the gas pump and don't have to sell an arm and a leg to fill the tank. My friend's 95 Nissan Sentra doesn't have that type of power, and it's got a manual transmission. So far, nothing's gone wrong. Battery is still good, the engine has no problems, neither does the transmission, and both are still original, and it probably runs like it's brand new. Weakness:
Handling - especially when windy Exterior design - looks great from the sides and weird from the front and back After six months I am very happy with the car. It is comfortable and the ride is pretty amazing for a little car like this. I am not all that happy with the steering and the way this car handles in windy conditions - feels like you could easily lose control at times if you dont keep a steady hand. The A/C seems slightly weak during hot weather. Otherwise, the engine is really good, the ride is super quiet except on rough concrete, the interior and controls are exceptional, build quality seems to be great (rarely any rattles). The brakes are perfect. The engine seemed slightly loud and vibration-prone at first but over time it has mellowed out and now is very pleasant usually. Could use better, grippier tires for sure. I got the rotten egg smell others have mentioned for about 1 month and never since then. All in all, i recommend this car with only slight reservation. Fuel economy - I get about 30-32 mpg around town and 37-40 on highway. Similar Products Used: 1995 Honda Civic EX 1998 Toyota 4Runner 1998 Honda Accord 1992 Toyota Corolla |

-Doesn't exactly look like a Corvette -Seats are kinda stiff -No power locks -Cramped Quarters for Bigger People Wow! What a car. It's not a Corvette on the outsite, but this car will last you forever. The gas mileage is incredible compared to any sports car. The parts are rock solid. The V4 engine has more power than you think it would. Acceleration is great, breaking is a bit stiff but still good. Their is a ton of trunk space compared to a Sentra or almost any Chevy. It's very small and probably would not be to comfortable for people 5'11" and up. The interior is well designed and very nice, considering it's age. I was lucky enough that the lady installed a cd player in it before she sold it. Pretty good speakers, could be better though. The seats are pretty hard though, I would suggest a comfortable cushion. An overall great car. Similar Products Used: 97' Toyota Camry 89' Mazda Miata Eagle Talon (Don't know year) |

Won't beat a corvette in a drag race Base model has rock hard interior brakes are less than desirable It doesn't boast power or performance like an american or german car, but it will last forever if you take care of it. I have had bad luck with cars since I got married. My wife and I sat down and found out that with all the car repairs we've been putting in our old klunkers, we might as well make a car payment and have something reliable. I was not disappointed with my Toyota Corolla. I have put almost 25000 miles on it in the year I had it and I've had no problems. It's even aesthetically pleasing. I like Toyota. I bought a Tercel with 150,000 miles on it a couple of years back and drove it for another 100,000 miles without a major repair. Similar Products Used: Toyota Tercel Mazda mx-6 |
