Corolla LE
Strength:
It has surprising power, but by no means is it a mustang. This thing will zip around the freeway like its nothing. It can fit into tight spaces and small parking spots. Lots of leg room in the rear even with the front seats all the way back. Interior and exterior styling - I like the interior from the dash layout to the wood trim. Have gotten good compliments from people. The exterior - like I said, I personally wasn't too enthusiatic about the exterior looks, but I have grown to like it. And, I have also gotten good compliments from people. One guy (that I don't know) said that it looked like a BMW. One thing is for sure, whenever I drive this thing people sure are looking- don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing.
Weakness:
Not enough leg room; I'm 5'11" and I have the seat all the way back. I have to fully extend my arms to reach the steering wheel. Pulling down the sun visor always knocks the rear view mirror out of position. The sound system is lacking compared to similar cars like the Sentra and Neon. I haven't really noticed any better or worse gas mileage than other similar cars, but it sure does get better gas mileage than my last car (a 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee). The rear headrests can get in the way when trying to back up or check your blindspot. I bought this car in December 2003. It came with 19K miles already because it was a former rental car, but it was still new being a 2003 Corolla. It came fully loaded, power everything, CD player, automatic, and has an alarm. The minute I took it for a test drive, I new this was my car. I was a little skeptical of the new re-design but the looks have grown on me, plus I really like the interior. Besides, I didn't buy the car based on looks, I bought it based on Toyota's reputation for making cars that are dependable. The very next day after I bought this car, the battery gave out, I took the car back and they replaced the battery (free of charge only because it came under warranty) and it hasn't been a problem since. Also, whenever it's cold when I start the car, there is this loud weird sound that comes from the engine, but only when it's cold. The noise lasts until the car warms up. There's this thing on the floor on the drivers side. I guess you could call it a foot pedastal. Maybe it's good for short people but I'm pushing 6 feet so I ripped that thing out of there. All in all, I think the Corolla's a good car. But next time I buy, I'll buy brand spankin' new Similar Products Used: I traveled a lot for my last job. As a result, I rented a lot of cars, these are the cars that I usually got and I must say in my opinion, the Corolla has them all beat. Ford Focus, Nissan Sentra, Dod |

Strength:
Reliability & safety, resale value, fuel economy (although I can't get even close to advertised 38mpg), nice interior & exterior.
Weakness:
Corolla should be offered also as wagon or hatchback as in Europe. Driver's seat needs better lower back support. Rotten egg smell. I would recommend this car to everyone. It would benefit from some minor improvements (see below) and I wish it came as wagon. Very good driving experience. Also the car attract attention Similar Products Used: Civic, Taurus, Fiat, Audi 80 |

Strength:
Adequate room in the rear seats. Enough headroom in the front. Nice interior. It by no means has good acceleration or power, but it is more than what I was expecting.
Weakness:
No trunk button on keyless entry remote. Sunvisor overlaps with rear view mirror. Not comfortable for people 5'10" and over. See Review Summary. The small space in the interior is making me regret purchasing this already after only two weeks. I am 6'0" and I ride with the drivers seat back all the way, and I still feel like the pedal is too close. I didn't notice it when I test drove it, but I sure noticed it on my first 70 mile commute. Having said that the pedals are too close to the seat, the steering wheel is too far away. Like I said, I'm 6'0" and I have to fully extend my arms to place my hands on the steering wheel properly. I could move the seat closer to help, but then I'd be sitting on the gas pedal and brake. It's just not a comfortable driver's seat for people taller than 5'10". At night time, the bright white speedometer reflets off both the front windshield and the driver's side window and it is distracting. In the day time, the sun visor is useless. You can not flip it forward unless you want to constantly readjust your rear view mirror. The driver's side sun visor overlaps with the rear view mirror. The advertised 38 mpg is not possible unless you drive the entire tank at 60 mph with a 20 mph tailwind and the A/C turned off. The car is very jerky; it is not smooth when accelerating. For the same volume adjustment, CD's play much louder than the radio so you must adjust the volume whenever you switch from radio to CD or vice vera. The fabric under the driver's feet is warping as if it has water damage. I purchashed the car new, have only had it two weeks, and have not spilled anything on it yet. I removed the rear two headrests as they are distracting to me as I look in the rear view mirror. The last thing I've noticed about the car is that it has a distracting noise coming from the right side of the vehicle when driving at highway speeds. The sound comes and goes at will and I not been able to identify the source. It sounds like something between something flapping in the wind and the sound you get when you let the air out of your tires. It is very unpleasant. Great looking, fun to drive, nice ride, very peppy
Weakness:
The head rests are a bit high, which makes backing up difficult at first, it just takes some time to get use to I purchased my first Corolla in 2000. It was a 97 DX and I didn't want it. I wanted a truck or SUV, but my parents were paying so they got to choose. After a month of driving it I loved it. I recently traded it in, with 130,000, for a 2004. I love the 2004 S. It is great and handles wonderfully on backroads and highways. It is much bigger then models from before 03 when they changed they design. Lots of little storage compartments Similar Products Used: 97 Corolla |

Weakness:
A bit small if you are taller than 5'10" I have been an avid Toyota fan now for about 12 years. I purchased my first Corolla in 1990 and have owned a total of 7 Corollas since (see th similar products below). In fact, I now own 2!! My favorite has been the 2001 Corolla LE. This car has performed flawlessly for me for 3 years. And since 1993 I have not had a single car repair. Read that Again! In 10 years no single car repair. That means no fixes in the shop, no parts broken, no leaks, not a single issue. Only oil changes. I tell you - you can't beat that. Now, the car is a bit small if you have a large family or you are a large person. But, we have a family of 4 and have traveled many miles in ours. The trunk is well designed to hold luggage. The 2001 design has the best ride of all the Corollas so far and the car feels solid on the road. It's a bit heavier than the 1993-1997 series and rides more like a higher-end sedan. I'm very disappointed to hear about the 2003- series with the rattles and egg-smelling exhaust. The 1998-2002 series do not suffer these issues. MPG & reliability - nobody beats Toyota; trunk room large for small car
Weakness:
Small interior, tight feeling (leg, shoulder room and forget putting anyone in back seat), Toyota is has shrunk their cars way too much; hard to get in and out of car; feel every little bump in road; looks -boring; standard tires terrible in snow and tread wears very quickly; driver position too much and not much adjusting possible; poor sound system I used to be lifelong Toyota Corolla fan...until they came out with this model year (and several others following 99). They shrunk the car down and made it feel more rinky-dink/cheap feeling. Further, the driver seating is way too high and uncomfortable. If you want a dependable car you can use to zip around town, dont car much about the ride, and want great gas mileage - this would be the one. If you want something that doesnt feel every bump in the road and is even semi-comfortable, not feeling like a toy car - dont get this car. Similar Products Used: 1994 Corolla CE |

Weakness:
funny smell from motor, poor interior layout I have driven my "high rolla" for over three years and am very pleased. It has been the most reliable used car I have ever owned but not the most efficient. Although it is tan in color and the most boring-looking vehicle I have ever seen, it is very fun to drive, rather peppy and I love zipping around town in it. Great on the highway too (but not with the AC on)! My only complaint would be the rather musty smell that comes in from the vents which no air freshner will get rid of. Also, I have to say I hope I never have the misfortune of getting into a collision with this car as is does feel rather small - but it's a compact - what did I expect? I have had no mechanical or brake trouble with this vehicle at all - 80,000 miles. Similar Products Used: 1999 Honda Accord, 1989 Honda Prelude |

the space is limited..need more torque i had this corolla for couple of years, But one day on the freeway we get into a car accident and wut u noe, the impact was so bad that the whole front right side of the car was missing. WE had put trust into this corolla but our trust of level have lowered since the stupid air bag didnt come out.. but hey we all came out alive and uninjured. COming out alive may be a good thing, but the fact that none of the air bags came out makes me a lil suspicious. But anyways my corolla could of been one of those few unlucky ones with defects.
