Volkswagen Jetta (2005 - 2010) Midsize | Compact

Volkswagen Jetta (2005 - 2010) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The fifth generation Volkswagen Jetta Mk5 debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show on 5 January 2005. One major change to the Mk5 is the introduction of the first multi-link independent rear suspension in a VW Jetta.

Styling reflects a new direction for the Volkswagen brand, with a new chrome front grille, first seen on the Golf Mk5 R32, which has since spread to other Volkswagen models.

The Jetta available in the U.S., is powered by a 2.5 litre 5-cylinder 20-valve engine in most trims. In North America, the Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine was not offered in five U.S. states when the Mark 5 Jetta was introduced, due to the tight emission standards promulgated by the California Air Resources Board. In addition to California, four other states adopted the more stringent California standards.

Strength:

A lot of the features that you usually have to pay extra for on other cars are included on the Jetta - Heated Seats(on cloth or leather)now that's HOT and the Auxiliary Input Jack- everyone has a Ipod now - (except me) but im going to get one

Weakness:

The engine is a little loud, back seat is a little tight but i dont have to sit back there LOL, Large trunk

The Carefree Maintenance Program was the best thing they could have added to their 2009 models - 3 years or 36000 miles- i love that because im the type of person who would wait till the last minute to take my car to get serviced but now since its included i dont have any excuses,

Strength:

Nice looking, quiet when driving, accelerates quickly

Weakness:

Never reliable, always in the shop. Drains the bank account

WORST CAR EVER! I bought the car because I'm a commuter and thought it would be reliable and have good gas mileage. Since the day I bought it I've had nothing but problems. Windshield wiper motor goes out, alternater, head lights ( only one ever works), noisy starter ( WHEN IT STARTS), ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS!!!, I have had my car at the dealer 6 times with nothing but a large bill. I'm usually back there within a month. Honestly, I'd rather pay to drive a semi then drive volkswagen POS! They are horrible! I wish I had listened to everyone before I purchased the silver piece of junk. Avoid these cars if you can! I've paid close to 5,000 to fix the car overall after the brief warranty was up.

sensors come up to often

I bought the car and at first I didn't like it so much, I had problems, sensors, battery etc. But after a few years of owning the car, I realized you do not have to fix every little light that comes on the dashboard, vw had many sensors that go off randomly, I owned the car for 4 years and just recently lost it due to a major accident and I miss it soo mucn. I plan to buy the new vw. they are VERY SAFE and Durable Strong Cars. I think you should buy one and see for yourself

Strength:

Mileage, looks, comfort, handling

Weakness:

cup holders are ridiculous, paint seems to chip easily, could have used a more durable leather on seats

ALl in all has been a great car. I average over 500 miles per tank - and have been up to 700 on just highway. So average with mostly city driving is baout 30 mpg. Handling is excellent, interior features - stereo, heated seats, console lighting are pretty high caliber for a car in this price range. Trunk space is huge. Back seat might be cramped for adults if the front seats are back, but I've never heard a kid complain. I've had the car since new and have 60,000 miles on it. Have only had one weird mechanical issue with glow plug that was not covered as I am past warranty. It was a $600. fix which seemed excessive. Other than that, I have no complaints. Odd to see so many bad reviews. Am considering a Mini Cooper but after reading reviews may just stick with my old reliable.

It is a cute little car

Weakness:

Hard to find parts for this car and nothing is cheap. Be prepared to be putting money into the car constantly

I really loved this car when I did not have to take it in to the shop every other month! I was continuously repairing the car. I had to change the brake sensor 3 times, the rack and pin, air compressor, and many little computer things.

Model Reviewed: Jetta TDI with DSG

Strength:

Fuel economy. Pleasing to drive with torquey engine. Smooth, quiet ride. Excellent suspension control.

Weakness:

Plastic pieces tend to rattle at certain temperatures.

This is the best car I have owned in a long while. Fabulous diesel engine coupled to an outstanding DSG transmission. New independent rear suspension is a great improvement over the 2005 model. Large trunk and plenty of space inside the cabin. I have cloth seats which are very comfortable even after long trips - seats are well shaped. Steering wheel, controls and finish are excellent with everything in the right place. VW really listened to the complaints of the previous model. Would definitely buy again.

70mph, 5th gear at 3000RPM I am just starting to hit peak torque!

Weakness:

Car wants to speed and thus easy to burn extra petrol.

The car rocks. The price was awesome. I have the 5 speed manual and with 2000 miles it gets better everyday. It looks SO MUCH MORE expensive then it is.

I will update at about 10000 miles!

Quality, Service departments, Electrical problems, multi function display

Eletrical problems from 6500 miles on. Not a consumer friendly auto. Try going to a local parts store for oil and/or filter. Been in for warranty work many times and problems still abound.
