Strength:
Solidly built, lots of goodies, roomy, powerful. Great milage. Awesome heater and A/C. Great sound system. AND MORE. I could easliy use my 1200 character limit.....
Weakness:
Sport suspension can make the ride a but bumpy at times. Poor design of window washer fluid reservoir in relation to the rear window pump. Awkward location of CD player. Poor water channeling...drips on drivers door switches with window open a bit but only while not moving. LOVE IT. Bought it used with 31,000 miles Tried the Caravan and Windstar all and found the best. More solid than the competition. I fail to see how some of you with 1999's and up are doing a tune up on double platinum 100,000 mile plugs. Problems do occurs with cars. Have some of you people NOT heard of a warrranty? God sakes the GM Major guard bumper to bumper extended warranty (7/75,000) only cost me $1500 Granted I have had the power sliding door repaired 3 times and it needs a 4th. Warranty covered everything I needed or expected it to. $1,400 for a sliding door motor ain't cheap and GM bought me 2!!! plus 2 control arms due to a technician screw up. But it's all covered. Best $1,500 I ever spent. Oh yeah... both power window motors, and a body program control module all on GM too. The van isn't flawless but then what is....? If you find it... buy it. The point is everything has been taken care of and coverd. Sound like a warranty ad? So be it, but it works. Try it. I plan on getting a 2003 LT within a few weeks. and the best part is you have until the before standard 3/36 warranty is up to get the extended. Loyal Ford man gone GM. The Windstar and Caravan don't cut it!!! Get a warranty on anything you buy because crap happens. Cheap and easy repairs of any kind on ANY vehicle are a thing of the past. Face the facts, pay the price or buy a bike. Similar Products Used: Caravan, Windstar |

See above !!! This car is a piece of junk. Bought it with 52,000 miles. Had problems with oil usage right from the start. Coolant light coming on - mechanic flushed coolant because it was "filthy" - solved problem for about two months. Coolant light on again along with temperature gauge moving erratically from cold to hot and back and no heat problems. Now garage says it is probably the head gasket which isn't showing up on the test yet. Windshield wipers are parked on the windshield when shut off. Quoted about $400 just for the parts for that. Gas gauge sometimes shows full when gas is nowhere near full. Had the car for 13 mos with 63,000 miles now on it. Can't afford to fix it - can't afford to trade it. It was obviously somebody else's headache before they dumped it. |

Strength:
Good gas mileage
Weakness:
everything My venture is in the shop as I write this with a repair bill to the tune of $4200.54. The dealership tells me that the thermostat stuck which caused the water pump to freeze up which caused the engine to overheat and lock up. They had to put in a brand new engine, thermostat, and water pump. The odd thing is that the van never over heated nor did a light come on the dash board to indicate a problem. The coolant light did stay on (but when we capped it off with antifreeze it would go out), we had a local mechanic to look for a problem but they could not find one. The only solution I find in this is that I now get a new three year warranty and believe me, before the warranty is up I will get rid of this vehicle. I agree with others, I will never own a GM again!!! Similar Products Used: Ford aerostar which was also a piece of junk. |

Strength:
Prior to intake gasket/water pump problems, vehicle had given good service with good gas mileage, ride, etc. Dealer service with sliding door recall handled promptly.
Weakness:
Engine intake gasket. Hard to service spark plugs. Engineer who designed should have to repair once installed. Had van for almost 3 yrs (60000+ mi) with no problems. Normal svc (Non-dlr). Then water pump started leaking and was replaced. At 66,000 mi started losing coolant. My mechanic found some intake manifold bolts finger tight and gasket defective. Water in oil. GM Customer svc said not aware of problems (don't check internet??? or log complaints). Essentially told me since not dlr-svcd for normal maint, no telling who loosened bolts. No history of problem - isolated case. Out of warranty -- sorry but don't bother us with your problem. Repaired but not sure of ultimate damage to engine. Also, power steering pump whining and increased steering effort required. Have been a GM driver for 40+ yrs but will not be as soon as I unload this. Similar Products Used: 86 Plymouth Voyage (engine rebuild @ 90k miles due to oil pump failure) 95 Ford E-250 van (Commercial) 225K miles with nothing but normal maintenance. |

Strength:
gas mileage - easy to park - roomy for 2 when traveling
Weakness:
gaskets - way too expensive - lost $14000 deprecitation in 21/2 years D'ont buy a Venture - mine blew both intake gasket and head gasket. Dealers are aware and factory is not recalling. They can't say if i burned antifreeze long enough to compromise the engine. |

Strength:
Seating is OK.
Weakness:
Loud, expensive tune-up, stuff breaks easy. Cheaply build Van, in my opinion. Can't wait to unload mine and buy someting else. Don't but a Venture! Own a 1999 and have had several problems - Driver Side Window stuck, water pump went out, Transmission "thumps" on shift changes, very noisy on freeway, loud engine noise (even at idle), cost a ton just for simple tune-up, factory tires wear fast (only 30K on mine), and the instrumentation panel is, well, just super ugly! Just don't buy a Venture. |

The seats and all be fairly easily removed. That is about it!
Weakness:
Mechanically infirior product to everything, including my first go-kart! The absolute biggest piece of junk I've ever been exposed too. I have been a loyal GM customer since my very first Cavalier. My entire family owns GM products and frankly if I wasn't trying to break the Lease trap I wouldn't be considering another GM vehicle. If you want a mini van PLEASE get something else. I've had problems with the windshield wipers, the windows (not rolling down), the engine has a high pitch noise, the transmition "thunks" when changing gears, the passenger door lock fell into the door, the ABS keeps failing, etc... Drove wonderfully before engine was ruined. Very roomy.
Weakness:
Faulty headlight covers, sliding door doesn't always latch, faulty gaskets, wide spread problem seen in all repair shops. Bought with low milage, within year both headlight covers fell off, replaced to a tune of $360.00. Now at 77,000 miles intake gasket collasped causing a connecting rod to go throught the engine. No warning. GM customer care aware of faulty gaskets refuse to help, state have to wait for recall. Would not buy another GM Van ever! Similar Products Used: Ford Aerostar |

Weakness:
Intake & head gasket problems. You guys just haven't put enough miles on them yet. Our intake manifold gasket went out at 71,000. Dealership repaired at a cost of $700. Two years and 34,000 miles later, it's a head gasket and a $1300 bill, now I am wondering....How long this time? Oh yes, the headlight covers, yes those to fall off. |

24.2 mpg over 60,000miles Versatile seating Good ride Entertainment package in Warner Bros. edition
Weakness:
Back seats sit too low. Had to replace handle on tailgate door twice. We're very pleased with the Venture so far, After three years we have had no repairs other than regular maintenance. The ride is good, the mileage is great andit does well in snow and ice with traction control. We have enjoyed the VHS player on trips, and we like the versatility of the seating. My only complaint is the back seats sit too low and the poor design of the door handle on the tailgate door. Similar Products Used: 1990 Grand Voyager 1993 Caravan |
