Villager
Strength:
Very reliable car.
Weakness:
Cannot find any weakness I will encourage anyone to buy a Villager. I have had my van over 3 years. I bought it used with 89000 miles and never had to do any repairs and it has over 135000 miles. Everything works never left me on the road. I commute with this vehicle. I travel over 1000 miles per week and I was never left stranded. Nice care like ride, good around corners, and cuts through the wind like a knife. I would recomend this vehicle to anyone wants a good, inexpensive, reliable car. By the way the villager is made by Nissan...It is A Nissan Quest in a Mercury body; the engine says Nissan on it and the Nissan Quest parts fits on it. |

venture Extended LS
Strength:
Very roomy and comfortable. Removable seats add to the convenience of driving, and the power in this van goes well with my tendency towards speeding. Lots of safety features, and the sliding electric door is great when you have kids
Weakness:
Only problem I have had is the windshield wipers will not go down when turned off. They stay upright on the sides of the windshield. Was told the "chip" to fix would cost approx. $800. I can drive with them where they are! Bought this in February 2002, had been a demo and had less than 10K on it. I love this van! . Strength:
Great vehicle until this unreasonable maintenance expense.
Weakness:
Poor headlights (dim). Hatch handle broke. Spring from Passenger front door simply fell out! I thought this was a good vehicle, and a good value until I had to replace the engine! This van was very well maintained, serviced every 5K miles. At 80,000 with no symptoms, the engine started smoking excessively and running rough. I had it towed within 5 miles of these symptoms, and had to replace the engine at a cost of $5K!!! The leaky intake manifold gaskets combined with crystalized coolant completely ruined the engine. Just my luck, no assistance from GM. Would have been better off having the van stolen, or burned!! Similar Products Used: 1999 Honda Accord. |

Crystal
Strength:
Fits the whole family.
Weakness:
Have experienced paint chipping on both sides of the front fender. Both headlight covers blew off. Was told this does not commonly occur. However the autobody company in the area, informed me that they could not keep them in stock. The transmission went at 69000km. Also the water pump and the engine had to be fixed due to leaking I purchased this vehicle in November of 2000. Salesmen were helpful in meeting our needs. GM does not acknwoledge problems with their products Similar Products Used: Previously owned a 1992 Dodge Caravan. Had to replace the transmission in 2000 at 195000km. It was sold when I purchased this van and is still running |

Strength:
I find the van very easy to drive in all kinds of weather both in the city limits and on the highway.
Weakness:
Paint on the front fenders. The windshield is very hard to clean during the winter especially when there is ice build up around the wipper blades. I have rust spots on the left and right front fenders in the exact same spot. I have seen similar spots on a number of other 1997 Ventures and in my opinion it is an obvious defect. |

Strength:
Fuel efficient econo box.
Weakness:
A lot of things broke and there is absolutely no concept of customer service in the repair or warranty of vehicle. This seemed like a fine vehicle.Brought it in for fixes on many safety items, mostly seat belt issues in May 2002 and I asked about why the AC wasn't as cool as I thought it should be. Was told that new coolant was not as cool as old Freon. Accepted answer as I know nothing about cars. In June of 2003, at 2 years and 3 months old, and at 70k when I turned on AC for first time, noticed there was no AC. Took car to dealer who told me it was going to cost $1000.00 to fix and was not covered. GM Canada officials said too bad because the dealer in Calgary never posted that I had a question about the AC. No regard to the fact that I hadn't used AC since September when Van was only at about 45000k and under warranty. GM representative Mary Leocata who rendered this decision to me also stated that the new coolants are not as cool as the old coolants and in spite of this then proceeded to hang up on me saying that GM's final answer on this was that "I was out of warranty". I expected more from GM on this issue as there were too many factors that they did not want to consider and that they seem to not have any concept of moral obligation and prefer to stick with thier interpretation of the letter of the law. I would not trust GM with reliability in thier dealerships or thier customer service. Any vehicle is only as good as the service you get when you have problems!!!!
