Strength:

My family really loved this vehicle until it broke down in the middle of a busy street.

Weakness:

The lies, denials and blame shifting by General Motors and their dealerships.

Like thousands of others I had the intake gasket problem. Brought vehicle in because coolant light on. Dealership says it has small leak but it is fine. 3months later need to have the engine rebuilt at a cost of $4000. They blame me for the problem and say sorry you are a couple months out of warranty. GM Canada says they don't have a problem.

Strength:

Roomy, I love seating.

Weakness:

Gm needs to stand up for there products in all respects. Needs more ADEQUATE FUNCTIONAL cup holders!

Boy, where do I begin. Loved my van, and still do to some extent. Bought it with 23K on it in April '00. I drive a lot with 4 children and we live in the country so now has 116K. Had sliding door mechanism replaced under warranty, not a big deal. Yes, my intake manifold went bad also around 75K - $700 - with friend's employee discount at dlrship. I have been through about 8 sets of brakes and 2 sets of rotors. Pads lasting 8-20K miles -- this sucks! Power steering has issues...whines and sticks mid turn to the left, then you have to crank it to turn back to the right (GM says no documented problems with my year van and power steering just 97 and before) Yeah right. Let's see...driver side window motor quits when it wants to, oh and the . gas gauge--it does fine up to 1/2 tank and then it has a mind of its own. Dlr told me $800-1000 to fix I LAUGHED AT HIM TO HIS FACE!!! Rear tailight has electrical issues...melted the housing for the bulbs had to have it replaced. Was told the wheel bearings were gone out of both right and left front wheels...took it somewhere else and the guy said they were crazy - replaced brakes and turned rotors fixed issue. My transmission also clunks sometimes. Main CLUNKING come after you stop then it goes clunk. Now I am "burning Oil" as I have been told. Using about 2 quarts a week...nobody can find a leak, but yet I have no "SMOKE" coming from tail pipe. Someone said it might be Head gasket then changed their mind - this was the people who wanted me to replace the wheel bearings though. And much more!! I can't wait to get rid of this van!!!! I am buying foreign next time and that is aweful to say. We have had problems with the last 3 chevrolets we have owned!!!

Strength:

Comfort, seating arrangements and ease of removing seats. Great fuel mileage.

Weakness:

GM should stand behind it's vechicles better and take care of people with man. gasket leaks. seems to be a common problem and THEIR fault(Bad design or something like that) Not isolated cases, should have a recall.

Excellent Van, very comfortable, and super fuel economy for this type of Vehicle. It did have the usually problems, Intake man. leak(fixed under ext. warranty, glad i got it), new water pump at 101,000. It's got 105,000 on it now and is running great. Like it so much i boght a 2002 short wheelbase, but get the exteneded warranty.

Value, cost vs equipment gas milage bucket seats vcr/tv electric sliding door comfort compaired to Japan of German van 5000 chevy dealers worldwide cupholders info center, compas, temp outside tow rating radio ant in front glass ect...

Weakness:

Must move motor to get to back spark plugs Onstar is junk

This is my second Venture and both have been great vans. The first was a 1998 and was rear ended so I bought the 2001. The WB edition is great. Sliding door is great for my three kids, and they love the vcr and tv. I'm in the Air Force and drive all over the country. Have had no problems with the 2001, at 22000 miles and going strong. I had a transmission problem with the 1998, but may have been because of drive at very high speed in Germany for 3 years. The 7 bucket seats are the way to go. I do my own oil/filter and other upkeep. This is a very economical van to own. I love the cabin air filters for my alergies. 4 airbags and abs make it very safe. Great van, would recommend to any family.

Strength:

Ride, DVD system, quality seems to be present even though a lot think domestic equals no quality.

Weakness:

Engine is adequate but could use a about 30 more horses.

Well I finally did it.....got rid of the sport coupe for the much needed mini van.(3 kids) I researched practically every mini van on the market and finally decided on the Venture because I loved the ride and price. This things rides like a dream, the engine is adequate and just everything about the van I pretty much love. I looked at the Honda van, which was very nice, but too expensive and I'm trying to go domestic. I'm a union guy and want a union american auto. The DVD system is awesome, keeps my kids occupied, even my 2 year old's eyes are locked on it for a while. I love the room, I can't believe how much stuff I can cram in this thing!! I'm very happy with my van as is my wife, lets hope it stays that way. I got a $4500 rebate on this baby!! $3000 + $500(Quest rebate) + $1000, GM family members got an extra $1000 from 04-24-2003 to the end of the month.

PRETTY ROOMY, A LOT OF FEATURES. BEST FUEL MILEAGE IN ITS CLASS.

Weakness:

ROUGH RIDE, LOUD ENGINE. CHEAP PARTS.

JUST BOUGHT THE CAR USED. AS SOON AS I CAME HOME, I FOUND OUT THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY. I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS CAR. IT ALREADY HAS 61,000 MILES ON IT. I THINK I SHOULD GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CAR BEFORE SOMETHING BREAKS

Strength:

I bought this van for the seating arrangemant it offered.

Weakness:

It's a Chevy.

I have had no problems with my 1998 Chevy Venture until last week. Like SO MANY others on here I too had the intake manifold go out on my van. 970.00 dollars later it has been fixed. I think. The water pump was also replaced FREE only because the Dealer missed it leaking on the initial check for the intake manifold. Now, 1 day later the "CHECK ENGINE SOON" light is on...I am heading back to BELZERS CHEVROLET in Lakeville MN this Monday. They of course were reluctant to fix the water pump for no charge...but did so anyway. It seems very obvious to me,after reading all of these complaints about the Venture's that CHEVROLET should have had a recall for the intake manifold problem.

Strength:

The folding 3rd row seat, seating for 8, built in child seat, power sliding right door, OnStar, RDS radio with CD/tape, VCR entertainment system with wireless headphones, the DIC with outside temp., compass and trip computer. Overall great features and better value compared to the Japanese vans. Plus periodic free goodies with the WB model.

Weakness:

Headrests could be better, no tachometer, not enough thigh support for 2nd row seats, not enough cupholders if van is full.

The Venture is a great van, just passed 2 years on ours and almost 16K miles with no problems whatsoever. Since we have 3 vehicles, it is our weekend and daytrip vehicle. It drives and handles well, also smooth and responsive with good mpg. Have gotten over 27 mpg on the highways for long trips. Its 6 cyl. engine at 185 HP is not the strongest among current MV's but it is good enough with adequate passing.

ATTENTION ALL: The info listed above is my friends car. recently i heard she had some car trouble so i volunteered to help, let me tell you something, i was astonish at the problem. Number one, the head gasket gone, coolant in the oil. valve lifter need to be changed, coolant flush, change oil. All this for 1,700 dollars, "WOW." So i helped her call into HQ, well i thought at first it was going to be a total fix or new engine, but it turned out to be a lie. They told us that it was caused by the fuel injector and manifold, what a bull, (the guy did not know what he was talking about) then he says we had two choices. ONE: GM fixes the gasket and lifters (25% off), but if other problems occur we are responisble. TWO: New engine, we pay 75% of cost. So you see, they kept arguing on the fact of "your past the warranty" also "you milage." SO are you telling me the car is suppose to break after the warranty or past a certain milage???? well, i have a HONDA CIVIC 90 and it still runs at 116,000 miles and still going, BET THAT GM. So you see, i told her dump the car, the product is helpless, also with all other complaints i don't understand why they don't do a recall and fix the problem. DONT BUY THIS CAR..... ALSO I FEEL THAT ALL THE PEOPLE HERE THAT FEEL THAT THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED UNFAIR OR FEEL UNSAFE WITH A CHEVY VENTURE OR HAVE PROBLEMS..... I BELIEVE WE SHOULD LODGE A COMPAINT AGAINST GM????? ANY SUPPORTER????
