Stow and Go Seating
Great gas mileage
Turns on a dime
Comfort
Spacious seating
Optional Features
Tri-zone climate control
Interior Space
Back well for added space when back seats are up
Easy to drive
On board computer gives you exact gas mileage, temperature, etc etc.

Weakness:

Lack of 8th passenger option.

This is the best van for your buck. With 5 star crash test ratings you feel safe. The van comes loaded with options that most vans in its class like Honda would run you at least 5K more for. It drives and rides like a dream. We have never had a mechanical issue, we take care of our vehicles.

Strength:

Roominess, comfort and convenience amenities, utility, looks

Weakness:

Depreciation for the first six years or so, then it levels out (but on the other hand, that means the pre-owned buyed can get a lot of vehicle for not much money); Lots of electrical gadgets means lots of opportunities for glitches

I haven't had the T&C for long, but so far, so good. My Limited has all the goodies, and is extremely comfortable. In fact, it is comparable in amenities to my Cadillac (but not quite in ride quality).

As for some of the gloom and doom owner reviews on this and other web sites, a little perspective is in order. I own four cars of different makes and models (T&C, Saturn, Caddy, and a Ford Mustang convertible) plus a Pace Arrow motor home. Uncannily, every owner review-oriented web site I visit for each one is at least 90% of the "I'll never buy another one!" variety. Oddly, I've never had a serious problem with any of the above mentioned vehicles, nor any of the other forty-plus vehicles I've owned going back to late '60s models. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe, as some have suggested, people with an ax to grind are far more likely to write internet reviews than ones who are happy and satisfied. In other words, the prospective provided by these web sites may be a bit skewed.

As for the people who rant about their problems with the T&C (or any other American mini van) and proclaim their next van will be an import, they need to go over and visit the Odyssey and Sienna owner review forums. Ironically, THEY HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINTS! Transmission failures, rust, poor workmanship, complaints about dealer service and manufacturer support, blah blah blah. If you erased the make and model info out of the Chrysler, Honda, and Toyota reviews you wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

Bottom line - mass production is a crap shoot. Do your homework, use some judgment and common sense, and take internet complaints with a grain of salt.

Steering, windows

I have had nothing but problems with this car. The steering has been fixed three times, the front window replaced twice and the rear window blow out for no reason at all. It was around 60 degrees, no rain, nothing. I had a Dodge Caravan which was the best car I ever owned. I will never buy another chrysler again.

CHRYSLER GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!!! ESPECIALY WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR MOTORS!

Great Ride just toooooo many problems. 1. Rear door seal.
2. Passanger Latch belt
3. Break job at 15,000 miles.
4. Electrical problems a.(head lights turn off when you turn on the high beams.) b.(lights started go off and on without touching any switches; replaced light switch)
5. Window motors a.(driversde front) b.(driverside rear).
6. Replaced break arm/pedal (rusted out).
7.Motor problems jumping and sputtering a.(had to replace spark plugs and wires 30,000miles) b.(same problem except this time had to do fuel injection and filter cleaning as well as replace spark plug wires 40,000 miles)
8. Now motor better good but is idealing very fast. Will take off quickly in reverse and can go up to 35MPH(in about a 1/4mile) in drive without touching the gas pedal. Also has a little tick or knock in motor when running.
Overall maybe just a lemon maybe not after seeing other reviews. I am tired of haveing sooo many problems though. I still drive my 93 Model S-10 2.8V6 with 261,000 miles and have not ever had this many problems until i hit 210,000 and even thin it has not been as much problems. What is the deal with CHRYSLER??????

Looks good, Spacious.

Weakness:

Not very mechanically sound

I have always loved my van and enjoyed driving it... until now. Six months ago my window motor went out. Which I have only had the car for a few years. Then this week my ignition decided it was going to have to be replaced. $400 ++ dollars on a car that I am paying $500 a month on!! An ignition problem is something I would think would need done in a old car. We have also had to replace front and rear brakes at about 30,000 miles. Although I am going to keep my van I hope that the problems have been resolved in the newer models.

Strength:

nice riding, good gas milage for suv, seats very comfortable, nice that back seats recline a little, home link is really cool, very good motor

Weakness:

rear cargo plastic scratches two easy, a rear power assitted hatch would be very nice

I don't like this car, I love it. Most people I talk to who have one say the same thing. I have the cx plus package with the power moon roof. The home link is very convient. The extra light the moon roof adds really give you that Gee I have a lot of room in here feeling. It rides like a buick (comfortable) and handles really well. Some reviewers say that it's under powered but I say it's a v6 that gets good gas milage, how fast do you need to accelerate. And I'm saying that as a 32 year old. My personal feeling is it has plenty of get up for passing. I bought it with 24,000 miles and it has now 49,000. The only problems thus far is the right drive axle seal was leaking at about 34,000 miles and was replaced under warrenty. The hatch back interior door handle as broken on one side, which is typical on most GM rear hatch door. It would be really nice if that door was power assitted. So far this as been a great vehicle that I hope to have around for years. This is a very good alternative if you can't afford a honda pilot, or toyta highlander and is way better than a Jeep Grand Cherkee or ford explorer.

Weakness:

brakes wear out quickly!!!

Wow! Reading other reviews I see I am not alone. My issue is the BRAKES! The front brakes needed replacing at 18,000. I've had SUV's and never replaced brakes this quickly. Lo and behold another 14,000 miles and there we were again needing front and rear brakes and rotors on the front! All this at 32,000 miles. I should mention I don't live in San Francisco or pull a horse trailer. After much argument with the dealership they agreed to only charge for a discounted fee on the rear brakes which I still felt was wrong. I see after researching that there was a mass recall and lawsuit on Chrysler and Dodge products for brakes a few years ago and I envision myself in the next one - after I get rid of this minivan. I,too had the motor on both front windows go out (like someone else here). After reading reviews I sense these problems are the tip of the iceberg. Now I know why I have 0% financing 0 - for all the $$$ I'll need for repairs. I think it's time to back to what I had before - a Ford.

Model Reviewed: Town & Country LTD.

Strength:

Roomy, comfortable, quiet on the road.

Weakness:

WAY too many electrical issues for such a new vehicle.

Prior to purchasing this used van, I owned an 11-year-old Ford minivan. That old van never gave me an ounce of trouble -- solid as a rock -- and I traded it in after putting nearly 300,000 miles on it, for the Chrysler T&C LTD. Although a very comfortable and roomy ride... From day ONE, I've had problems with this van. Most are electrical: driver's side window erratic (now not working at all); rear lift gate erratic; side doors both erratic; dimming headlights; interior dashboard/display is dim and suddenly gets brighter; gas mileage not as good as promised; a clicking noise in steering wheel; and squealing brakes (although brakes are still good).
