VERY DISAPPOINTED! nice way to start a review huh? I have had this vehicle a little more than 2 years, and already I have had it in the shop 8 times. Three times for trans issues where the third time they finnally replaced it. Twice for engine belt fallinig apart with in the same year. The horn shorted and went out. The inside map lights work somitimes...And now after the last belt was replaced (charged $100 because extended warantee does not cover) I have a nocking noise around the belt and alternater area, it goes away after the van is running a while. VERY BIG disappoinment. And then there are the brakes that desinagrated and had to replace the pads and the tires seem to wear quickly.... Also experience alot of road noise which new tires and balancing did not elimenate... I owe to much on it to trade it in...yet I will get rid of it hopefully before anything more can go wrong. If any one knows how to get any where with dodge or lemon laws....please email me @ klswanky@yahoo.com..

Air bags!!! no matter what you do to ''''''''em- they will stay there undamaged!

Weakness:

see above

Back in 95'''''''' I had front accident. $11000 damage to the front- AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY!!!! Chrysler said- not enough of impact!!!! Yeah, right!? Well, maybe, 60mph is too slow for them to open? Even a cop, who did investigation, was surprised. I even bent my steering wheel upon the impact with my hands. Thank God, seat belts saved me and my wife. I only wish, that Chrysler president, or whoever send me that letter, would be in the same situation! I tried to sue them, but GOOD LUCK!- you need $15-20g to do it! Also, Lemon Law would not apply here. I send complaint right after the accident to the nat. safety admin. and still waiting for the response. If I were YOU- I would never trust or even sit in any Chrysler. It was my last one. Cheap sh...

Factory stock brake pads wear out soon.

This is a great vehicle. I know a lot of people that have Chrysler Minivans and no problems. I haven''t had one problem. I had to replace the brake pads once at 30000. Figured they were cheap pads and put on NAPA premiums and they have lasted 40000 miles so far. And they seem to have at least 20000 miles left on them. Anyway, no problem with the tranny or components.

Drove a long trip and parked in the drive way. Next morning could not drive and found that one of the rear wheels was not moving. Found out that the break ceased up. Mechnaic tells me that I drove with the hand brake on but that is not true. I am very very sure that I did not drive with the hand brake on. Could the brakes get hot because of very long trip (1450 Kilometer) and cease up? Any knowledgable respone is greatly appreciated.

Strength:

Ride, steering, handeling. Options, like the center console, you can order two if you like, stereo is excelent 3 zone heat and AC, lots of storage, middle seats are easy to remove, I can still use my Yakama bike rack from my 99 Caravan! Fuel economy. I like the way this van drove and sat on the road, with the sport suspention it was a little firmer that some of the others but you get 4 wheel disc breaks and bigger wheels. I didn''t go for the 3.8, that is what I had in my 99 Caravan and it, like the Ford and Honda engines are hard on fuel, but better on power, life is a compromise. The interior of this van is buy far the most attractive, the Honda looked to pedestrian

Weakness:

3rd row seat is heavy, you can go for the split rear seat if you remove the seats often, this will save you 50% weight. It would be nice if you could order the 3.8L in the sport.

Test drove them all. Caravan had the best look, ride and features. However I must say they all had there strengths and weaknesses.

Comfortable. Good driving. Good fuel compsumption (Motor 2.4 L)

Weakness:

Transmission, brakes.

Same as previous reviews, I fell in love with the minivan when I rented one on vacation. I buy used (9,000 miles) for a good price, but at 20,000 miles the transmission failed. The warranty don''t cover the reparation because it has two years and one month. The transmission quality is very bad. Also I had to replace the rotors and I replaced two times the brakes pads. Now I''m looking for windshield wipers, and the dealer price in Panama is $60 for each one!!!

Strength:

Love it except for the problem with the transmission and the tensioner.

Weakness:

Transmission

Had 98 Caravan for a year. Bought it with 29,000 miles on it. Had it 8 months and had to replace the serpentine belt and belt tensioner ($300). We''ve had a problem with it shifting for the last few months. It hesitates then lunges forward when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Engine also revs high at around 50-60mph when accelerating up an incline from a slow start. Then it shifts hard as before. I''ve read a lot of these reviews and many have had transmission problems. Has anyone else experienced the same problems as I have?

Nice driving. Nice people at the service department.

Weakness:

Many mechanical problems. Low resale value - and with good reason.

First American car I have ever bought and I don''t think I ever will buy another. On the positive side, I think I made a friend at the service department at the Dodge Dealer where I was always treated nicely. I really like how the car drives. It is very nice for a van but I had it into the shop too many times and now with the transmission going, I am ready to give up and trade it in (I couldn''t in good conscience sell it to some poor sucker). I saved money when I bought it but have paid much more in aggrivation.

Obvious; room, power with manual tranny, versatile, and comfy on highway. UNfortunately, they don''t make the 5 speed any more.

Weakness:

Brake rotors don''t last.

Wow! I didn''t know these things were so bad! I have had (actually, my wife drives them) 2 of these, the first an 85. BOTH with standard, 5 speed transmmissions. I sold the first one at 118K miles, and it didn''t burn any oil. Only the AC went out on that one, and it was aftermarket anyway. Our current 94 has 128K miles on it, and is still going strong, with no major problems except a clutch at 70k, but I expected that. It has outlasted Ford Windstars and Chevy, whatever they call their minivans, of our friends. I think all those other people must have the 3.3 engine, which my local dealer says is junk. I would buy another one, and will next year. The brake rotors did require replacement sooner than I thought they should, but that is all the major things. These are actually the most reliable vehicles I have owned, including a Datsun 260Z, Porsche 924 and 944 (talk about expensive to repair!) and Jeeps.

Weakness:

trans, switches, brake releases.

I bought this vehicle thinking it was a great one since I had heard so much good about them, but as soon as I read the reviews I got gun shy and I''m gonna try to sell it. Hopefully I won''t lose to much mone on it. The brake release switch went out and I had to take off the dash and release it with a screw driver til I could get it to a shop. And now the left drivers door switch has went out. Other than those two has been great for 4 months.
