Strength:

Good seating room other than that none,IT's A MINIVAN

Weakness:

Well, Just about everything, brakes are junk ABS is useless it makes braking worse, I think anything turns better than this piece of @#$!. Looks, what looks this is the ugliestthing ever. Suspension is horrible for a loaded and even unloaded vehicle, it bounces, sways, bangs and anything else you can think of. Traction on even wet pavement is horrible this things rearend slides every wheren on snowy roads, it gets stuck trying to get up my driveway in the snow. Towing is horrible This car is not ment for towing rear fishtails, the vehicle jolts during braking and acceleration. Power what power this thing accelerates from 0-60 in a minute. The ride is awful (see suspension), sounds like crap and milage isn't that good.STAY AWAY FROM THESE WORTHLESS PIECES OF JUNK!

If you want a minivan you are on crack, they are ugly crapy vehicles that should be banned from the roads! Get an SUV they are sooooooo much better, they actully have power, looks, and they dont get stuck on your driveway, they might be more expensive, but you wont be embarassed if someone asks you what you drive or sees what you drive(it's a man thing). What kind of man whants a soccer mom mobile anyway? SUV's are so much better, minivans=junk DONT BUY ONE!

Strength:

The car has a lot of space, and very practical built. With the backdoor and the left slidedoor, there's no problem to get large objects into it. I use my car in my job and I find the car almost perfect for this kind of use.
The car run smooth, it's strong and very comfortable to drive.

Weakness:

The cars automatic transmission broke down only 2 hours after I bought it. The dealer installed a new transmission, so hopefully it'll last as long as I own it. The cars aircondition is not as good as it probably should be. It want get warm on cold days (-10C and less).
The quality of the painting is questionable.

I could recommend this car to anyone who needs a lot of space, a comfortable car, and an economic car to drive. One should anyway be aware that the cars transmission could be a weak point on this car. Be sure to check out the cars servicemanual before buying. When buying an used car one will always have to fix minor error from time to time, but as an overall I'm very satisfied with this car. I will definitively consider buying another car like this when changing car next time.

Interior thoughtfully designed, excellent visibility for driver and passengers. Good gas mileage.

Weakness:

Recalled twice for tires and rims. Review mirror fell off. Rubber cowling on front windshield shrunk. We have owned the vehicle since it was new. It has low mileage for being 3 years old. Warranty just expired and with just 24,000 miles on it. The car began overheating after just 3-4 miles of driving. We just spent $1,021 on it to replace the water pump, tensioner, and belts.

We are disappointed our experience has not lived up to the Caravan reviews.

Handles nice, roomy, style, milage, reliable and comfort.

Weakness:

Compressor burned up at 45k, transmission replaced at 62k,
Radiator replaced 3 times within my 165k traveled. Nevered towed a trailer.

First minivan owned. I purchased the extended warrenty for 100k or 6 yrs.
I have close to $5,000 of receipts with was paid for by the warrenty. For the 165k mile I put on it (bought it new), I really enjoyed it. I would like to keep it but feel that the trans will need to be replaced soon. My
radiator needs to be replaced again (4th one). Small electrical problems are starting to show. Love to buy another one but feel the quality is not there. Looking at the Winstar.

Workhorse. I have used this to carry kids, lumber, drywall etc.
The engine has never had a problem. I find it good in snow considering I'm rating it against a 4 x 4 I also own.

Weakness:

Poor paint job, The front indicator lights are very hard to replace. Also have that crazy "mind of their own" problem with the front wipers. This is more amusing that bothersome, but it is still there. Brakes seem to need alot of extra maintianance.

I would recommend this 1996 to purchase ONLY if you have a good record of maintianance. Mine has 188,000 klicks on it. I have serviced it every 4000 kms. I don't know how it would have performed if I didn't stay on top of it. Cost per yer has been low.

As a mid priced van I would recommend it. I would make sure you have a reliable dealer/service centre to follow up on recalls etc. If your not willing to be viligant - pay the price and get a Honda

Strength:

We like the roominess for transporting kids/dog. It is nice to sit up high. The AWD works great in the winter time...we get lots of snow, and it will go through anything (if it will shift into gear!!!).

Weakness:

We bought the van with just under 50,000 miles on it. In the 4 1/2 years we have had it, we have put about 40,000 miles on it. Had a ton of problems with the door dingers shortly after purchase. Had the van back to the dealer atleast 5 or 6 times before they straightened that out. Have had other minor problems with things that shouldn't be going wrong...serpentine belt, tensioner, etc. BUT our biggest complaint is the bleeping transmission. Started having problems at about 80,000 miles...maybe a little less. Have had it in twice for selenoids, etc. Were just told by the transmission shop to try unhooking the computer on the transmission...if it would go in reverse without the computer hooked up, then it is just the computer. Guess what...it wouldn't go in reverse, so that means to fix this huge inconvenience, we have a $1400 repair bill. With all the complaints about transmissions on the Dodge/Chrysler minivans, I can't believe that the company doesn't step forward and do something about it. We had a Pontiac 6000 that we never had a major problem with and it had 172,000 miles on it when we SOLD it! Wish we had kept it. Our experience with this van has definitely made us decide against future purchases of Dodge or Chrysler products. Going to try a foreign HONDA next. Have talked to lots of people with much luck with Hondas. Would rather buy American...but can't stand the cash output or the inconvience involved in owning another Dodge.

I would definitely NOT recommend it to anyone...not even my worst enemy!

Smooth ride, good pick-up, roomy for kids

Weakness:

Paint keeps chipping on slider doors, dealer has fixed it 5 times previously and problem continues...now that we've turned to arbitration dealer decieved us, scheduled a final repair and then did nothing. Appearantly called us down under false pretenses so that Chrysler could send a representative to the dealership and proceeded to video tape my van inside and out and then tell dealer not to do the repairs because the vehicle was "abused." I have 2 young children and babysit 3 others- the van is not going to look like it would in the show room!

Will never buy a Chrysler product again! Vehicle has depreciated from $25,000 down to $10,230 since we bought it 15 months ago, and dealer can not get the repairs correct. Sliding doors which constantly chip are due to the misalignment of doors...which up until arbitraiton proceedings began, dealer has acknowleged and now will not stand behind or repair the problem...not that the 6th time would be a charm!
On one trade-in attempt a salesman at same dealership told us the newest grinding noise under the hood was normal...he'd bought a '99 and it did the same thing..ugh!

Unusual problems...
Reliabilty.
Transmission makes funny sounds upon slowing the vehicle.
Battery went bad at 40K.
Head gasket at 47K

It seems to be a decent vehicle, but with only 47K miles, its too early to verify its dependability.

Weakness:

My van has just 47,000 miles, and as I write this, it's at the dealership having the broken clock spring replaced. Last month the head gashet blew, and so did my check book to the tune of $1600.00 The "manager" of the service department called me, just a little over an hour ago to inform that the head gasket is still leaking...and of course my transmission is dying. But hey, it's only going to cost me just $966.00 to tear down the transmission to see what the problem is! I have already replaced the brakes front and back several times, the serpentine belt twice, the battery twice...no wonder when I told the Dodge service person about how the transmisson slips constanly, and whenever I put the car into reverse I hear this incredable thud, he only nodded his head...I guess he's heard it all before! I was the only one shocked that a transmission would and could fall apart at 47,000 miles!!!!

Okay..I did my part..I bought "Amercian" and I am certainly paying for it!
This was my first Dodge, and belive me, this is the last Dodge.

Strength:

This vehicle was very clean and provided all the room needed for me the wife and son. Came in very handy moving Christmas gifts around last year.

Weakness:

Where do I begin... First and foremost, the vehicle has just crossed 83,000 miles and I bet you'll never guess, THE TRANSMISSION IS DYING!!! I can get in and put it in reverse with no effect sometimes, or it takes a few seconds to fall abruptly into gear. Next, driving will get you 1st and maybe 2nd gear, but 3rd is only acheived by dropping the vehicle into neutral, taking my foot off of the gas and shifting back into drive. Even then when I get back to giving it some gas it will crank back down into 2nd. By the way I have the 3.0 V6 with 3 spd auto tranny. After all of the hype I've seen here for Honda, I think that will be my next purchase. I sympathise with all of you having the same transmission problems, mine was quoted at $1300 to repair.

I definately would NOT recommend any Dodge Minivan product if this is any indication of the rest of their line. As I said, Honda is in my future.
