Posi Traction last month in Arkansas's ice storm worked great. Others were slipping and sliding. Ride is excellent. Also like seating arrangement choices
Weakness:
Havn't found any so far Strongly reccommend. Paid suggested list, but feel its a real good value. Each day on the news recalls are mentioned for SUV's and Vans. Honda has only received rave reviews, and make me very happy that I have chosen the best. Trade in values should be extremely good as its limited production and great reviews will keep them up. Similar Products Used: Caravan, does not compare to the Oddessy. |

EX NAV
Strength:
The vehicle handle quite and is comfortable for all on long trips. There is plenty of room for storage. The fold down rear seat is great. Plenty of power for highway driving.
Weakness:
The Navigation sysytem in my car has been a nightmare. It has been replaced twice along with the display. Although the dealership has been very cooperative to date. The screen freezes constantly and it has never worked more the 5% of the time! I would buy the vehicle again, but without the nav system Similar Products Used: Best competitors would be upper model windstar or the Sienna. |

Honda Odyssey
Strength:
My wife and I have always had "driver" cars: two BMWs, a M-B S-Class, two Cosworth-engined M-B 190s, a Subaru SVX, etc., but we really felt a minivan would be the best vehicle for us in retirement. The *only* minivan we found which could be called a "driver's" vehicle was the Odyssey. The ride is firm and controlled (independent rear suspension), the engine is smooth and powerful, the steering is quick, the turning circle is really tight (nearly two feet less than DC minivans), etc. Nothing else came close.
Weakness:
We've found very little to complain about in terms of the vehicle. Because of the very high demand for Odys we visited many dealers in New England and did find one or two who were trying to maximize their profits above MSRP. But most dealt very fairly with us in terms of putting us on a waiting list and selling at MSRP. The Ody was definitely worth the wait. 1. Terrific driving experience for a minivan Similar Products Used: This is the only minivan we have owned. We researched carefully (as do most Ody buyers--which is why they are willing to wait for one). We felt it was the only minivan that gave us the kind of driving experience we were accustomed to. We didn't want a vehicle that drove like a bus or truck. |

All the usual Honda stuff
Weakness:
The power-sliding doors on the EX model. My major complaint - the warning buzzer on the driver's side power-sliding door goes off for no reason. It drives me crazy! The dealer has tried to fixed it several times. The last time they kept it two days and tore the entire door apart. It stopped the buzzer for about three months. Then one day it went over a bump and the buzzer went off again. My dealership is great. They are the best dealership of any kind I have ever delt with but this buzzer is driving me over the edge. I am going to start Lemon Law proceedings next month. I would recommend it for all the usual Honda reasons but get the lower model and avoid the sliding doors. Similar Products Used: I have a Windstar and I just sold a Previa. The Previa was the best mini-van ever. The Alltrac version was by far the best van ever made and the person at Toyota who came up with the Sienna as a replacement is probably the guy who designed the power doors for Honda. |

Strength:
Not much to dislike about this van. Very nice power for a mini-van. That's one of the reasons we bought the Honda. Easily better than any of the 5 previous vans we've had before. (Chevy, Villager, Caravan (s)) Like thew fold into the floor rear seat. Big advantage over others. (It will get copied by other) Have driven it a full year.
Weakness:
Not much except the electrical plug in for cell phone is way too low on the console (down by floor) Electric doors are slow to close. You must be PATIENT! Don't care for the spare tire arrangment (hidden in floor in middle of van) Didn't matter until we had a flat tire. Our kids are teens now, and we've gone through years of the van thing, and this may be our last van, but easily, it is the best we've had. Love the excellent power, and great highway drivability. Very smooth. Have had no problems at all, until some one backed into the front a couple of weeks ago. Similar Products Used: Had several makes of vans before since about 1985. The Honda, of course is newer design and improved engineering, but is still very well done. Had 1977 Honda Accord when they first came out. This is our fourth Honda vehical. (have Honda lawn tractor too!!) |

It's got the Honda name I suppose.
Weakness:
Pretty much everything, and I'm not joking. Weather-sripping was already wearing out, erratic transmission shifts before it completely locked up, pulled to the right even on new tires, Honda service men were complete idiots, and parts are very hard to come by when needed. After the Caravan was totalled I was in desperate need for a reliable vehicle, since Honda seemed to have a good reputation I decided to go with the Oddysey for my wife and children who practically lived in the Caravan. After a complete transmission failure with numerous other problems in the first year of ownership I decided to get rid of it while the loss was minimal. I've had a 2000 Caravan now for about 6 months and it has picked up where the other one left off. The heck with Honda, hello Dodge. Similar Products Used: 1995 Dodge Caravan-whoa were we spoiled. The Caravan, had it not been totalled, would have lasted forever. Maintenance was much easier, better interior layout, more comfortable on long trips, I wish I didn't have to see it go. |

Trailer hitch option must be purchased with a transmission oil cooler even when all I want to do is tow a bike rack. I am happy to carry Christmas trees for everyone. Moving, give me a call. Need me to pick up your new refridgerator. Tell your 5 friends they can ride in here with us. I am not from around here either but I can still give you directions.(Navi) Similar Products Used: Dodge is the only one close with the new power doors and hatch but still does not have the resale value or the reliability. |

This is the best looking minivan I have ever seen!! It has good acceleration and handling for a minivan, and does it all in style. It can hold the whole family, plus tons of cargo. It has the excellent Honda reputation, which is especially reassuring since we also own a 1991 Dodge G. Caravan!! (Anyone who owns one knows what I mean!!) I love all the extras it came with, (pwr sliding doors, pwr driver seat, pwr windows, mirrors, & locks, flip & hide rear bench, alloy wheels, etc.) And because they are difficult to get, it holds its price very well!!
Weakness:
The spare tire is hard to get to, and it should have a full size spare. The sliding doors are a bit slow, but they are a great conveniance, esp. with the remote!! The roof rack is useless unless you buy cross bars, (which we did). The only quality related problem is a cover on the roof rack that we have had to replace about ten times, (thankfully under warranty), but we have been informed that this problem has been taken care of. Also, it needs premium fuel for max performance, which can cost alot with the gas prices where they are!! (Good thing it gets good gas milage!!) This is the first Honda we have ever owned, and we are VERY glad we purchased it!! We have heard that a lot of Honda dealers are charging a lot over MSRP, and/or charging a lot for excessories, but our dealer sold us our van and excessories, which we bought many of, (air deflector, cassette player, floor mats, cross bars, mud flaps, cargo tray, etc.). We had to wait a LONG time for our van, (as did most people), but it is well worth the wait!!!! We have put over 27,000 miles on it since we got it, but it still runs flawlessly!!!! We absolutely love it, would buy another one, and recommend it to anyone with two or more kids, or who needs to haul stuff around!!!! Similar Products Used: It blows all of the competition out of the water!!!! The only thing that even comes remotely close is the Chrysler trio of vans, and they have absolutely no reliability, (believe me, I know!!!!) |
