Strength:

Good handling and ride. Comfortable seats. Great views! Relatively easy to work on. Carries a big load.

Weakness:

Front brake lifespan. Rear springs starting to sag.

Bought it three years old at above dealer. It had 60,000 mile on it then. It has 162,000 on it now. The front brakes don't last a long time. Very easy to replace, though. Transmission had the usual clunks and buzzing that others reported. After installing AMSOIL auto trans fluid, all that gradually went away. Van has been very trouble-free with one exception. The cooling fan quit at around 100k and took out some wiring with it. I replased the wiring and the fan with an after-market one since standard fan costs over $300!

Strength:

Predictable, neutral steering and handling characteristics. Good visibility through the large front windscreen and side windows. Outside mirrors are well placed and large enough to give a good view of the road behind. Good for hauling kids and all their hockey equipment all over the province. Good for hauling two families and ten days worth of camping stuff from one end of the province to the other. The engine is powerful enough to allow safe passing and lane changing even when fully loaded. Defroster element at the bottom of the front windscreen is a clever touch. Decent sound system.

Weakness:

VERY POOR FRONT BRAKES. The service interval of 30,000 (or less!) km for complete replacement of the whole front system (pads, calipers and rotors)is one-third of the interval expected. I'd expect to see ventilated front rotors and rear disc brakes on a vehicle this heavy that can also tow 1,500 lbs worth of trailer. I was surprised to see thin, solid front rotors and fairly small drum brakes on the rear. The fuel economy has never been as good as stated on the EPA estimate shown on the sticker. The best this van has ever done is 20 mpg. Lots of wind noise from the passenger side front window. The seal has been replaced twice and the noise is still there. The 3.0 L engine seems to have valve-train oiling issues - the cam followers clatter excessively and for a prolonged time when the engine sits overnight. The oil cap, which has been replaced three times now, leaks oil onto the valve cover and the exhaust manifold on cooler mornings. Transmission auto-shift points seem to be variable and, often, unpredictable. Regular service items (filters, etc) are almost impossible to reach.

Bare bones, standard wheelbase, mini-van w/o any power options or the tinted windows. 3.0 L v6 with the 4-speed automatic transaxle. Good seating w/plenty of room in most seating positions. A fairly good idea for a family vehicle that was poorly executed. Difficult to service, things are hard to reach and difficult to re-install.

Strength:

- Interior mobility and size (nothing can compare to the hauling room of a van...other than a truck) - For me, little repair

Weakness:

- Known transmission issues in the series...

Great car. Went 9 years without needing any major repairs, sold it recently to make room for a new car, but it was a great car while we had it.

Good gas milage Convinient adjustable cup holders Front and rear air/heat (several vents) Two sliding side doors Individual lights for everyone Storage compartments Built-in infant/child seats (convertible) Lighted mirrors for driver & passenger Easy-to-remove rear seats Arm rests for everyone Upholstery holds up

Weakness:

Transmission on our van occasionally lunges after highway time

We bought our Voyager with 12,000 miles (it was a rental van at a dealership). After driving it 6+ years, I have no real complaints. I cannot think of a more handy vehicle for traveling, towing kids around, moving large objects on rainy days, etc. Our van has the optional child-seats (so convinient even after our children outgrew them). I highly recommend this vehicle for busy families. I know SUVs are cooler, but you cannot beat the interior mobility of this automobile --try getting to your back seat little one in a Suburban while the car is moving!!!

It sits well on the road

Weakness:

Too many problems

I have had nothing but problems. First, had to replace the complete cooling system. Then had to replace the breaking system last year again this year there is a problem with the breaking system. This is the second time the breaking system fails to function while on the road.

Strength:

Very ergonomically designed and comforable.

Weakness:

Too many oil leaks, fron and back motor seals periodically need replacement, a major task. Ghost wiper, American technology at its best.

NEED ADVICE ON HOW TO STOP TRANSMISSION LEAKS, PLEASE. Transmission went through major repairs; oil leaks started again. Recently changed all transmission seals and packing. Workshops have failed to stop the transmission leaks. It has become an embarrassment with oil pathces in the parking lots.

The Whole Body of The Van.

I purchased my Plymouth Voyager from a Private Owner 5 months ago. I've had to do several repairs. It's like one thing after another. Does it every end. I have not had a change to take it for a good drive because it's always in the shop. It's enough to put me against buying another Van. This van makes all Plymouth Voyager's look BAD!!

Strength:

I especially enjoy the high position and viewing ability from the drivers seat. I feel very safe and have come to trust this car to get me anywhere and back. I also enjoy the spaciousness. I take the back seat out and still can seat 4 passengers comfortably. I can also tow groceries, band equipment and gardening supplies in the rear.

Weakness:

The only ax to grind I have had with my Voyager is the slipping air conditioner fan belt. No one seems to be able to tighten it up or adjust it so it does not squeal like a stuck pig. Fortunately, after 3 1/2 years of noise ( I had felt was a small price to pay) the thing fell off and lie stuck between my front tires. At this point the auto repairman decided to replace it. I paid $50 for the belt, and $50 for the labor. Now, my car is as quiet as a cucumber and drives like new.

I purchased my 6 cylinder voyager in 1997 with few extras I paid $24,000 for it brand new. It has really paid off. With frequent oil changes and general upkeep it has been a most dependable vehicle. I can honestly say that after 6 years and 140,000 + miles I would not trade it in.

I never had anything simular. I drove a pontiac station wagon before this and it was not as dependable.

Strength:

No major work needed. Great gas mileage. Love the versatilty of the cargo area. Handles well. It was all good!

Weakness:

With no rear air, the kids would get a pretty sweaty headed in the hot summer months.

We loved our van!We purchased the '92 Voyager in '95 with 89,000 mi, as our first van for our growing family. (four children). Other than normal wear and tear replacement parts (battery, relays and fuses) we have had NO MAJOR PROBLEMS! We've just passed it on to child #1 and have purchased another Plymouth Voyager- hope to have the same great run. Knock on wood :)

Strength:

Roomy. Good ride. Good AC.

Weakness:

Transmission does not appear to be sturdy enough. Front suspension iffy.

Although the minivan is still running well at 115,000 miles, far too much has gone wrong. It is on its third transmission (58K and 92K). The front tires and brakes last about 20K and the tires are not cheap ones. The front suspension was incredibly noisy and had to be replaced just after purchase. There are several oil leaks which the mechanic cannot fix so this car will be junked soon. Some of the dash instrument lights have failed. The arm rests fall off regularly. The driver side seatbelt retraction mechanism failed and had to be replaced. The radio has started having problems. All in all, however, the car would probably be on the road at least another year if the oil leaks could be fixed.
