Strength:

Lots of room for very tall people. Easy to park and good on gas as long as you do the speed limit! I tend to drive between 70 & 80 mph, which has resulted in 27 mpg average. At lower speeds, get much better mileage.

Weakness:

Wish it had cruise control and map lights. Also, really wish it had center arm rest. I tend to do long trips and I miss these two features.

We stumbled upon this car. Needed to replace a car and saw the xB dressed in the 18" racing wheels. Fell in love with it. While we wanted the manual to address the low HP, we took an auto trans because we wanted the Black Cherry color. It's a fun car to drive and everywhere we go, we get asked lots of questions. People either love it or hate it, but those who hate it say "it's cool though."

Strength:

The car has a nice radio and the back doors are wide which make it easier to load and unload my small children. The car has a blue light on the panel which indicates the engine is still cold. As soon as the light goes out you have heat available. It takes about two miles to get heat out of the car.

Weakness:

The car vibrates or buzzes at highway speeds. I don't like the gear spacing. At highway speeds I keep looking to shift to a sixth or seventh gear. My wife doesn't like the seating position. She feels it lacks mid thigh support. The space behind the back seat is only about 21 inches. The space is very boxy and you can fit more things in that you would think at first glance. When we where looking we brought milk crates in to compare the space to the Toyota Matrix. The Matrix could only fit 4 crates and the Scion XB was able to take 6 crates, but to use the space you have to be able to stack the baggage. A longer luggage area would have been better. The passenger front seat has less leg room than the drivers side. The center control area encroaches into the passenger side.

the car has lot of standard features for a car at this price level. The car is missing an option of cruise control or roof rack. The center mounted speedometer is easy to get used to and I like it better than I thought I would. The dealer only had the automatic version of the car on the lot to drive when I placed my order. Because of warnings in other reviews about lack of power, I ordered the manual transmission and the cold air intake. Manual is okay, but the gear spacing is too close together so at highway speed it feels like the engine is reving too much and there is no sixth crusing gear. In retrospect, I should have ordered the automatic version Due to the low gearing, the car feels like it has enough power, although it is no hot rod. The car can maintain speed up long hills in fifth gear even when it was loaded with my wife and two kids. We had two snow storms since we picked up the car and found that is not as good on the snow as the all wheel drive mini-van this car replaced, but it is much better on the snow than the Nissan Altima my wife drives. People either like or hate the look of the car. I like it my wife thinks it is goofy looking. The attendants at two different gas station asked what kind of car this was. One liked the look and the other told me that it was really ugly. I've had three gas milage readings. One at 35 1/2 MPG, another at 34 1/2 MPG and one reading at 32 1/2. The last reading was for driving in the snow and included my letting the car warm up while I cleaned the snow off. Most of the driving was on two lane county and state roads in fairly light traffic. I was able to do the purchase over again, I would have got the XB but with an automatic transmission. My wife would not get the XB, she would have got the Toyota Matrix instead because she finds the seating position more comfortable. After two weeks and a thousand miles the buzzing at highway speed is not as annoying as it was when I first picked up the car. I'm either getting used to it or perhaps the car is breaking in and getting a little smoother. But the gearing is still a bit too low.

Great looking car, great stereo, gas mileage, inside is very nice and HUGE inside. Very roomy. My friend who is 6'2" sat inside and had another 6" above his head. Good pickup even with the auto trans. Good ride, feels like a real car when driving. Everything is great on this thing. and I do mean thing.

Weakness:

Just one. Toyota should use some better tires. Driving on rough pavement can be a little noisy. This can be fixed by getting some good quality tires.

Fun car. There is nothing else like the XB. I think this car will hold its resale value for many years and miles. Not a car for the cookie cutter. Moves in traffic great. When driving, EVERYONE around just STARES at your XB. You love it or you hate it. After having a Trooper and a 4runner, I love getting some real gas mileage. I got it in El Cajon and drive back home to PHX AZ (355 miles)on the free tank of gas from the dealer and had some gas left over. YEAH!!!! 35 MPG. Cool car for someone who wants econo car and some style. Car looks more expensive than it really is and its a TOYOTA to boot.

Strength:

-Fuel-efficient. -Great looks. -Economically priced. -For Heaven's sake, it's a Toyota, what more can you say?

Weakness:

- Everyone offering to buy it from you.

I was looking into getting a new car and the Toyota Scion XB caught my eye. I've had my car about two months now, and I absolutely love it. This little car is slick, cool and gets attention everywhere it goes. I live in Los Angeles, and I find it to be the ideal commuter car. Gotta sit in traffic for a couple of hours? You'll sit in comfort with the Toyota Scion XB. There is plenty of room and the stereo is great. For a great fuel-efficient car at a great price, I can't think of anything better than the Toyota Scion XB. But one warning, you may get tired of everyone admiring your new set of wheels!

Strength:

- Fresh, new look - One of the few Toyota models still assembled in Japan. - GREAT stock sound system - Roomy - Traction Control - Good gas mileage

Weakness:

- Location of instrument panel may be hard to get used to - Rough manual tranmission - Not much cargo room when backseats are up - No stock alarm or any form theft-deterence

"Is that a Mini Cooper? What is that?" That's how my first Scion inquiry started. When I told him its a Toyota he said, "You gotta be kidding me!" I never really planned or even thought of owning a Scion xB. But, when i desperately needed a new car, the xB was the perfect choice. Its affordable, got the looks and its a Toyota. Its like the planets lined up! I love my xB 'cause i know its the car for me. A car that can take me from point A to point B in style. If your looking for speed, luxurious comfort and capabilities like off-roading and towing, then, this might not be the car for you.

Strength:

Gas efficient, plenty of room, too many options, affordable, handles well, and it's very different, a real eye-catcher!

Weakness:

If you own a Scion Xb, be prepared to talk to everyone! They all want to know what the hell you're driving! If you're a shy person, this probably isn't the car for you. Other than that, none that I've found, yet.

This car is awesome! It's great on gas, roomy, and even though you wouldn't expect it from a box- handles extremely well. Scion (Toyota) gives you a lot of car for the money, but on top of that, the dealership offers all kinds of after-market options! Plus, on a road full of similar vehicles, it stands alone!

Strength:

Great space use, very peppy, excellent gas mileage, fairly quiet, good handling and braking.

Weakness:

Weak air conditioning, limited exterior colors, speedometer should be more in front of driver back seat rattles.

Car of the future now but A/C is a weak point if you live where it gets above 90F. Skillfully managed to get room for five in a space of only 12'11''. Back room space is hard to believe until you actually open the rear door. Numerous options usually not found in this price bracket included heated side mirrors. For a car weighting in at 2400 pounds the ride comfort is high and handling is way above average.
