Strength:

Style/looks Confort Brakes Handling Responsiveness

Weakness:

When upgrading to a 6-disc CD changer, the radio on the console is not changed, and one ends up with an additional CD on-dash, which is somewhat convenient, but a bit annoying. Attracts too much attention at times

This car is just awsome! It definitely drives like a German car. A nearly four year-old production model that definitely turns heads; it's all about style and design. The interior is indeed one of the best among sport cars these days. Brakes are incredible! I drive an average of 70 miles/day always in a hurry, and this car's power, speed, and responsiveness is just great. Of course it's not faster than a Corvette or a Boxster, but I am not planning on racing (especially on daily traffic...). This much style (hate-or-love it kind of style though)and the solid Audi reputation for this price is a very good deal.

Good AWD system Killer HIDs Very good service Feels absolutely solid Very nice midrange power Decent gas mileage Looks classy and aggressive

Weakness:

Understeers too much Terrible throttle response Ridiculously heavy flywheel CD player should be standard at this price

When my mom got the car a little over two years ago, I loved driving it. I was 16 and had an Acura Integra. To me the TT's power was simply amazing, the handling just great, and it looked gorgeous. Well two and a half years have passed, and I've gotten into autocross racing and other forms of (legal) car racing, and have modified my own car very much. These points have highlighted some significant faults to an otherwise great car. To me the TT is a car that test-drives well. It feels more solid than anything I've ever experienced, the brakes are strong (though a bit too grabby), the suspension is quite firm but rides surprisingly well, and there is undeniably impressive power as early as 2200rpm when the turbo reaches full boost. It's when you really push the car that it's faults come through. You have to be going over 40mph or so to get any sort of neutral cornering attitude. The thing weighs far too much for it's overall size and the size of it's engine. Sure it has luxury items and AWD and is solid, but a 5.7L Corvette weighs less.... The biggest thing that bothers me is the engine/driveline. It has nice gear ratios and the engine delivers great midrange torque, but other than that it's actually pretty worthless. No low end power because of the reliance on the turbo, the engine gasps past it's 5900rpm power peak so there's not a lot of top end, and the throttle response is just miserable. Couple that with turbo lag and you have to wait a couple heartbeats for any sort of power to come on, not a good thing when you need to balance the car in a corner. In addition the flywheel seems to be super-heavy because without the turbo spooling much in neutral, I swear it takes longer to rev to redline in neutral than in 1st gear. Perhaps my biggest gripe of all is that this combines to make it virtually impossible to heel-toe downshift. The sleepy throttle response, turbo lag, heavy flywheel, and wide pedal placement make it far more difficult than it should be. Especially compared to my Integra with an 8-lb flywheel, no turbo, and fairly well-placed pedals, it's a struggle to accomplish. It's a great car for someone like my mom - quick in almost any gear, still to this day extremely stylish, strong brakes, somewhat practical... I recommended the TT over the S2000 and Boxster to her because it is safe and predictable, and easy to drive at a pretty spirited pace. When you want a purer, more frenetic driving experience however, the TT will sadly disappoint while the S2000 and Boxster and others like the Corvette and Z3/4 will shine. It all depends on what you want.

Strength:

Design, Handling, Braking, 6 sp trans, Performance (225 hp engine) excellent workmanship, great gas mileage and reliability. Large hatch with back seats down for this class of car.

Weakness:

Big attention getter for this price point get people bothering you when you just want to be left alone (good and bad). High belt-line produces limited visibility making it difficult to judge parking, curbs, etc. but this is the same in most sprty cars. (I'm really reaching here :)

I purchased the car 8 months old with 12000 kms on it with a hefty savings of around $13000. Demin Blue on Denim Blue. My second Audi, build quality and brakes are second to none. Exceptional handling and with the 225 engine, enough power for most. Very rare car in my area get TONS of attention (a bit of a drag after a long day) Still puts a smile on my face when I drive it.

looks, brakes are good, handles well, quattro, and it looks good :D, oh did i mention it looks good

Weakness:

even with more power its still too heavy to be considered fast, rear visibility is limited but if you adjust the mirrors properly its not bad, hard to keep clean

Basically this car is visually stunning ive only had it for a few days so far and its great. the 225hp engine does dissapoint a bit so i may have to try the v6 out when the lease is up. the handling characteristics of this car are so neutral and predictable it gives anyone the confidence to drive quickly in any weather conditions. it rained today and it was the first time i had been able to drive it in the rain, and once the esp is off a whole new side of the car shows itself. this car is untouchable in nasty weather

Sophisticated design with the baseball optic leather make the interior outstanding. Excellent 30+MPG on the highway. Road feel promotes confidence.

Weakness:

Rear visibility.

Awesome vehicle, enough power to make driving fun, quick and responsive. Also researched the Honda S2000, but I did not care for the interior. Considered the BMW Z3, but already redesigned into the Z4. The quality of the interior and the comfortable ride make driving a pleasure.

Styling, Braking power to name a few. Took it on a fishing trip and caught 60lbs of salmon. Everything fit in to the little trunk. Gas millegae for the car is as good as my VW. Handles like a go kart. Roof doesn't leak.

Weakness:

Should have stereo controls on stering wheel. Other than that I can't complain. Even the service has been a good experience since they pick up my car and drop off a loaner everytime.

Absolutely amazing. I can't believe this is my first convertable. Just over a year old and still a smile on my face every time I drive it. Fast enough for me, stylish, always getting looks. Stereo is amazing first time I didn't have to upgrade a car.

A bit under power Blind spot

I have had my TT Roadster 180 for 2 years. It has been very reliable, built quality is excellent. Handling is good. A larger power engine would definitely make it much better but it is already good enough to challenge a BMW325i (or even the 330i) on the street which costs the same money here. The engine has a lot of potential and can easily be upgraded to make it a perfect roadster. After two years, I am still excited everytime I get into it.

Electrical problems with guages, rear hatch release, gas cap release, clock, windows going down on their own, etc. Being forced to drive back to the dealer where they pretend that no one else is having the same electrical problems.

Have driven the car over the last year and a half. Mine has 26,000 miles on it and overall I have been disappointed. I had the misconception that higher price equaled higher quality. This has actually been the least reliable vehicle that I have ever owned. Initially the styling and appearence pulled me in and being one of the "10 BEST" from one of the car magazines didn't hurt either. But...Electronic problems that keep appearing have made leasing this car a burden. Performance is mediocre--0 to 60 in the high sixes and if you own one you know that this feat comes with a real heavy dose of revving and clutch dropping. So, in other words, the thrill of the performance does not even begin to excuse the poor reliabilty. Handling is okay and braking is good but again you have to be able to drive it rather than repair it for it to be of any use. for this price range there are better options.

Strength:

Classic styling -- has virtually redefined the industry. Incredibly fun to drive. Ease of raising and lowering top. Quattro sticks to the road like glue. Reliability great -- 25K miles and no problems. Really comfortable for long trips.

Weakness:

Trunk room too small -- clubs ride shotgun. Engine underpowered -- desperately needs a 2.8L engine option.

What more needs to be said? An absolute blast to drive, and a real head turner. And for me, at 6'4" and 240, plenty of interior room (a far cry from my wife's Z3!). A larger engine option would be great, even though I have the larger 225 hp engine. Six cylinders would make the car truly a driving delight. I have been nothing but satisfied with this car, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a (reasonably) inexpensive convertible. Audi redefined style with this gem -- style now copied everywhere, from the new T-bird to the new H2.
